Rating: Summary: Amazing, un-professionally written smut novel! Review: Even as a Republican whose stomach turns at the sight of Bill Clinton's face or the sound of his voice, I still found this collection of un-documented bachanalian anecdotes impossible to swallow. The text contains absolutely no citations. At the end of the book, the author provides a partial list of people he consulted while doing his research. Basically, all he did was take a sample of the most egregious stories from books such as All Too Human and Unlimited Access and weaves in with them a truckload of sordid second-hand rumors, and calls it an all-American love story. The so-called author should face charges for character assasination. I don't doubt that some of the stories are true, nor am I casting the President as a victim of someone else's lies. The greatest victim in this story is Truth itself.
Rating: Summary: A true and revealing book Review: This is a definite 'can't put down' read. The author is extremely talented writing this interesting and fast moving book on President Clinton's life. If it is true, and I now have no doubt, then it is sad, how a man who was entrusted with so much power could betray the American people with his deployable behavior in the oval office. There are some who complain the author did not use reliable sources in portraying the President as a 'still' out of control adolescent. For those who have questions about the truthfullness of this book, ask yourself, who would you believe, the author and his sources, or the President and his supporters.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book portrays the reality of all the facts that peoople still choose to ignore to this very day. There are men like Clinton everywhere in the area of the country he grew up! Ask the women down there! You can believe it or not but until you have spent a couple decades there, don't thumb your nose so lightly. Get a grip, look at the red flags and especially the staring into the camera and the wagging of the fingers! It's one of the commonest traits of men (and women) with the same perversions. Great Book!
Rating: Summary: Perfectly ordinary people... Review: This book is not the inside story of the Worlds' most famous couple, but it is an enjoyable read all the same. Perhaps we'll have to wait a few more years to know the true ins-and-outs of this relationship. Bill is a fascinating man - the way he held on to not only Office but his marriage is almost unbelievable; Hillary, equally strong, but in a more subtle ways. I came to this book expected scandle, but realised that no matter how powerful a couple might be, behind closed doors they are very much human and quite, quite ordinary.
Rating: Summary: We've all read these stories before Review: Anyone who went to college in the late 60's and worked in the early 70's and is still working today has seen the transfiguration of their generation. Did Hillary really not shave her legs? Probably not. 10's of 1000's of intelligent left-wing/right-wing females of this generation eschewed razors and deodorant, as well as curlers. The coke bottle glasses were the mode o' day. Those that failed to melt into the pot (no pun intended) were classified as "Sally Sororities". Did Hillary think she could get to the White House without Bill? Probably not. Women did not have the same escalators then that we have now. Don't forget the glass ceilings. Regardless of Bill's philandoring (and how many women did the average college age *boy* of the 60's and 70's sleep with?) Hillary saw his power/charisma as a way to get the top. The only way at that time. Did she make some serious judgement errors? Probably so. Did he make some serious judgement errors? Probably so. Does the book discuss this? Emphatically no. We've read all these stories countless times, lets find a journalist that will dig into their subconscious. Why didn't Hillary think she could make it without Bill. This says alot about our "women's lib" society even in the 70's and 80's. Don't bother buying the book. Get it at your library and read/skim while watching David Letterman. A good mix.
Rating: Summary: Quick reading book, gives REAL INSIGHT on the Clintons. Review: If you have ever read the day's headlines about the President and the First Lady, and then wondered just what in the world is going on with them, then you need to read this book. The book reads very quickly and easily. You will find yourself wanting to know more when you get to the end. Democrats will probably be peeved that their president is exposed as the person he really is. Republicans will cherish every word and feel like they finally get to say "We told you so!" when the details on the Clinton's private lives are revealed.. Aside from the Clinton story, it is very interesting just to get a glimpse of how the political world really turns. A thoroughly enlightening read.
Rating: Summary: Full of unsubstanitated conjecture. Review: It was absolutely appalling to me that books like this are allowed to be published. I could not find one shred of documentation for any of the "stories" that were told in the book. Perhaps, this book is in the fiction area and therefore anything the author chose to write is ok. I would strongly urge people who read this book or any other like it that they look for the source of the so-called facts. I've spent some time reading the never ending pile of books written about the Clinton's. If you check the facts you will find most of them sadly lacking. Try reading the one by James Ritter, carefully documented by fact. The only people who would like this book would be people who are not interestd in facts, but who choose to spread gossip.
Rating: Summary: Christopher Andersen writes a very negative unreliable book. Review: I think we need to ask Christopher Andersen a lot of questions about his sources for the context of this book. I think when he wrote this he knew that many would believe anything negative written about Bill and Hillary. They've made mistakes but come on, only the right wing conservatives will believe all of this...because they WANT too.
Rating: Summary: THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE Review: I am shocked to think that Bill and Hillary have been pulling the wool over our eyes for 7 years. I thought that the right wingers were just trying to sling some dirt. After reading this book I am convinced that they are dishonest people.I've been sticking my head in the sand for too long.As of today,I am joining the Republican Party, even though they are trying to take away my child's school lunch. Thanks to this book I am no longer stupid.
Rating: Summary: A Candle In The Dark Review: 'Bill and Hillary : The Marriage' is the candle that finally sheds light in the basement of the White House. Christopher Andersen's sources are credible, his writing perceptive and his objectivity commendable. The fact that he states in the Preface, "I think Clinton is a hairball down the throat of alley-cat politics" is of no significance. Andersen's clear prose is both elegant and economical, as this brief passage on page 92 demonstrates; 'Bill looked at Hillary. Hillary looked at Bill. Al Gore looked at Hillary. Hillary looked at Monica. Monica lit a cigar. Al smiled. Hillary lit a cigar. Al grinned. Al lit a cigar. Bill lit a cigar. Cuba never had it so good.' Andersen also has the ability to make minor details major insights. On page 115, he quotes the conversation between Bill and Hillary straight after Bill had recanted his innocence on national television; 'Bill was relieved. "I should have done that a long time ago," he said. "Honeyhips, the guilt's lifted. I feel like a new man." Placing a reassuring hand on Bill's Viagra tablets, Hillary nodded and replied, "I know what you mean, Studster. I feel like a new man too. Now where did I put Jack Nicholson's phone number?"' Andersen's portrayal of Monica Lewinsky is accurate without being judgemental. He writes on page 46, 'Monica was the lamb in the flock of interns. White-souled and vulnerable, she finally surrendered to the wolf-wild blandishments of the older man. Bill knew her weak point; her soft spot. Boy, did he know her soft spot!' Christopher Andersen's book leaves no question unanswered. Teddy Kennedy's role in disguising Monica as the Iranian Ambassador in order to facilitate her late-night visits is revealed, as is Hillary's soul-destroying realization that she would never make it as a piano accordianist. Congratulations, Mr Andersen. Your candle burns bright.
