He shares their doubt about the venture, their anticipation of a better life and their grief and sorrow as loved ones pass on. He can hear the groan of wagons as they tip and sway crossing the prairie. He becomes aware of and sensitive to a thousand odors. The author gives the reader insight into the motive, the hidden agenda, and the emotion of a diverse group of people with a common goal, that of reaching Oregon. The book will hold the reader spellbound for many pleasant hours.

Summary: I'm now a Jane Junkie
Review: This was my first of Jane Kirkpatrick's books - the beginning of a serious addiciton! She is an amazing poetic, picturesque storyteller; a master weaver. Although fiction, her due-deligence to historical and curltural detail gives authenticity to the story. It was a delightful experience to read a book that embraces the full range of human emotions and experiences without offensive vulgarity. I was so delighted this book was the first in a trilogy because I was not ready to leave the company of the characters. Be sure to not skip the author's prologue and acknowlegments. I highly recommend this book. You might as well save postage and order all 3; you too will be addicted and not want to wait for the next one to arrive. I have now read every book she has published to date and have always been enriched by her stories. My friends and I have truly become her groupies.

Review: What a find!! This is one you will not want to put down but at the same time not want to end!! These women will give you courage and strength to face things that happen in your life. You will also recognize a part of them in you and in people you know that have touched your life in some way! It truly brings out the full meaning of friendship and family while also relying on God to direct our path!! It shows how each person has an influence on your life they're not just there for no reason!!
