Summary: Present in Spirit
Review: The descriptions of the characters, the land, the emotions make one feel they are experiencing the struggling within this group. Overcoming their fears, their losses, and learning to accept one another...a story that goes straight to the heart. It truly makes one thankful for our pioneers...and for the grace of the Almighty.

Summary: I didn't want to put it down!
Review: The only trouble I had with All Together in One Place was I couldn't put it down! I love how Jane doles out little bits of information on the characters, holding back what we really want to know.

In this book, the primary characters are women, a mix of women like you, me, our friends and associates, women who in one way and another become mighty. The context of each of the women's self-discoveries and their group emergence carries us on the best of pioneering adventures, the covered wagon trek. Their revelations provide fuel for our own journeys today.

I'm so glad Jane is writing more in this series. I'm sure other readers will be as eager as I to connect up with Mazie, Tipton, Ruth, Elizabeth and the others again. The turn-around women Ezra Meeker saw must surely be smiling. Jane did them good.

Summary: Only an OK Book
Review: This book is one of the best books I've ever read. Jane Kirkpatrick knows her material and brings to life a portrait of the Oregon Trail. It's informative, humorous, and solemn all at the same time. I just couldn't help but believe that *this* is what life was really like for people in the wagon trains.

Summary: Only an OK Book
Review: This book started off great as "Mazy" Bacon and her husband, Jeremy, headed off to begin a new life in Oregon, along with others. However, I found that some parts were extremely boring, and the end droned on and on. There were a few exciting parts, though. I recommend this book to someone who likes historical fiction, and not a lot of action included in the book. All in all, the book looks a lot better than it actually is.

Summary: I love this book!
Review: This book tells a wonderful story about the bonding of women. these women help each other to grow and survive in the most difficult circumstances. The author also gives us a glimpse into history...what women had to do to cross the country in a wagon. I loved this book so much that I intend to buy all the books by this author especially the other two in this particular series.

Summary: A Book of Platitudes
Review: This book was a big disappointment. The story line had an interesting premise, and I was really looking forward to reading it. The dialogue between the characters was so filled with "homilies" and "down-home" truisms that it distracted from the story line. I had to force myself to finish this book, and found myself saying out loud, "Oh please, give me a break!" The unrealistic dialogue made the characters unbelievable. I certainly would not recommend this book and do not intend to read any more books by this author unless she works on her dialogue.

Summary: A modern day pioneer woman!!!
Review: This book was a gentle story of pioneer women. I loved it from beginning to end. I have never read any of Jane Kirkpatrick's books before and definitely will look for her others. I am anxiously waiting book two of this series. I want to know what becomes of Mazy, Suzanne, Ruth and the others. Hurry Jane!

Summary: Faith, determination and friendship across the Oregon Trail
Review: This is a "must read" novel for anyone interested in the 1850's westward journey to reach California and Oregon over the historical Oregon Trail. The pioneers risked everything to make it there and the courage, strength and determination they had to have is an astonishing accomplishment.

Jane Kirkpatrick weaves a grand story based on a true accounting by Ezra Meeker in his 1852 journal. It notes his profound impression of a small group of covered wagons reaching their final destination along the Trail. In disbelief, he observes that there were no men in this group of 11 women and children. All the men had died along the way leaving the women to fend for themselves. Based on this recollection, Ms. Kirkpatrick reveals obvious historical research to enhance the story line and satisfy those historically hungry readers with accurate representations of life along the trail.

I would furthur urge historical buffs to pay attention to the author's notes and acknowledgments following the conclusion of the story. She recommends many excellent reference books which offer true accounts of the overlanders experiences, including detail books regarding everything from the pioneer's clothing to maps.

A truly wonderful book, the reader should be pleased to know they have two more sequels to keep the wonder going!
