Rating: Summary: My 4-year old and I love the books and songs! Review: I noticed the book with tape at the local library and checked it out for my 4-year old. She really relates to the rhyming and rhythm of the songs. This is great because she was having problems with rhyming at her pre-school. I really think the songs have been a fun supplement to help her conquer the rhyming concept. When the lullabies are playing, my daughter likes to look at the pictures that correspond with the songs. She analyzes each picture and questions the facial expressions and how it relates to the songs. I enjoy the songs because it brings back so many memorable childhood experiences for me. The song's tune are a little different from the way I learned them as a child, but I teach my daughter to sing both versions. I also teach her the hand and body motions to the songs. We love it and use the book and tape as a bonding aid.
Rating: Summary: My three year old did not respond well to it Review: I purchased this book w/tape at a african american bookstore in Atlanta expecting this book and music to really expose my child to her heritage but my three year old hates it and would rather hear her old nursery rymes tapes. I thought it would be a variety of african drums and alittle kids rap as well as gospel. All the songs sounds like slave songs or either white opera singers, I was disappointed with this book and tape.
Rating: Summary: Wow! I can't believe I can purchased this item. Review: My best girlfriend sent me the book and tape when my 16 1/2 year old was a toddler. My twelve year old enjoyed it too, but most importantly I LOVED it. It brought back so many fun memories for this 40+ year old woman. I relocated a few years ago, and misplaced the tape. I found it a couple of months ago, and to our disappointment it was damaged. I could not bring myself to throw it away, so I kept it. I bought it in to work, and my co-worker suggested that I enter your name on the web...and the rest is History. Needless to say, I can't wait to get a new copy for my great nieces, my daughters, and ME!
