Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Culturaly Based Folktales on audio tape
Review: Sarah Barchas has chosen 6 very engaging folktales presented on audio tape. All stories are delivered with a seasoned storyteller's professionalism. She chose to tell the majority of the stories in English and provide key phrases in both languages. The effect provides context based learning of Spanish words and phrases while having fun.

The accompanied booklet provides simple black and white drawings for each story as well as several engaging bilingual questions and vocabulary list as follow up activities. Perhaps the most interesting section of the booklet is the 6 pages of Suggested Reading and music to expand upon the themes of each folktale.

My only critisim is Ms. Barchas' low quality of the accent used when speaking Spanish.

On the whole, Ms. Barchas has provided kids of all ages (including parents) a true resource of cultural exposure in a fun, bilingual setting.
