Rating: Summary: A refreshing way to analyze your work life Review: This is a concise, easy-to-use guide about dealing with work problems. I've read the Workhealing.com website and wanted to get more information. The author is the main narrator on this set of tapes and has a smooth, calming voice. His writing and speaking style remind me of Marianne Williamson. The Four Elements that make up all of work--time, people, tasks and substance--is a very good idea. It really helps you make sense of problems at work and pinpointing what you can solve and what you can't, rather than just hating your job in general. This tape helps if you're looking for career direction, too (much more so than "Do What You Love, the Money Will Follow," which isn't always true). The anecdotes were fresh and interesting, too.
Rating: Summary: Very comforting Review: This tape is a little different than the book. It actually has more material, with new ideas on workhealing and how one can achieve it. So it is a good companion to the book.
I never thought about work HEALING. I just thought about getting a new job! But now I see that going from job to job doesn't help, unless you correct the things that are at the core of your problems. This is a great tool to help you. I like to listen to the tapes in the car (I have a tape player) and it is comforting and helpful going to and from work. I hope this comes out on CD, too. I will get the CD if it does.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous, DIFFERENT information! Review: What a great book! Whether you're having trouble with difficult people at work, don't like what you do for a living, or are looking for job, this audiotape is empowering and packed with information. I loved Side 2, which you can listen to on your way to work and going home. It's a great tool for improving your workday, and I use it over and over.
Rating: Summary: Great tool for everyday living Review: When I have a bad day at work, I listen to tape 2 all the way home. It is like a cool waterfall pouring on you, washing away all the meanness and pettiness at work. This tape series helps you understand that the natural forces at work--competition, supervision, conflict--are at odds with the best parts of our personalities. We can all be successful at work and still not stress each other out.
I was a little concerned from the description that this might be a "religious" thing, but it really isn't at all. If you're an atheist, you might not like some of the material, but there is no specific religious theme. Things just refer to a "Higher Power" or God and that's it. Most of it is about how you can do it yourself and have more strength than you think you have.
