Rating: Summary: One I can read time and time again. Review: Ok, so it could be my love of Scotland that makes this book so good, but the characters are so incredibly captivating. You absolutely love the fact that Trevelyan isn't gushing over Claire and the personal conflict that they go through is so great. I don't think I've ever read a more touching scene than when Trevelyan tells the Pearl that he wants Claire's misery too. I know it's not the most popular JD novel, but it certainly is my favorite. I HIGHLY recommend reading it.
Rating: Summary: The Duchess Review: This is definitly my favorite book by JD. Some people said it was slow and the hero was too mean and had a dry sense of humor. For me, this is closer to what a guy really acts like instead of the everyone-loves-me and I-am-beyond-every-other-guy kind of attitude. I don't like reading most romance novels because the heriones are annoying and the guys are buffed up to be so much more than what any guy can be, and it's just disappointing. This story, in my opinion, you can almost relate to. Claire and Trevelyan are a perfect match; they have a kind of relationship that you could probably see happening, besides the heiress part. All the characters are odd-balls and highly entertaining, which is almost always lacking in other romance novels. I absolutely loved it. I also recommend the Conquest.
Rating: Summary: Good, Not Great Review: I have ready many of Jude's novels, and while this is not my favorite, it is still a lovely, entertaining novel filled with quirky characters. The adventures described in the book are wonderful, and Claire and Trevelyan are a perfectly matched pair. The book does tend to be slow at times, but hang in there, it gets better. The ending doesn't come as a huge shock, but is entertaining none the less.
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: I finished The Duchess in 6 hours. It's fast paced, funny, sad, and full of crazy characters that you'll fall in love with. This is a great love story..she's not sure who she loves, he's not sure how to love, and then they find that through their friednship that they love each other in a way that is so special and sure it will make you think that true love in a freidnship can really exist. This is a definite keeper.
Rating: Summary: one of jude's best! Review: I have read several of Jude's Romence novels and found 'The Duchess' as one of my best liking.True, some people might find the novel and the hero(well, if you can call it that) to be a little dry, but I liked him just like that- sharp and dry. He doesn't throw unjust tempertantrum to the heroine on the whims like some other main characters in romence novels do.Anyway, if you're seaching for other jude novels try 'lost lady' and try to stay away from 'the raider' it's awful.
Rating: Summary: What a book! A MUST READ! Review: LOVE THIS BOOK! It swept me away, with emotion that jumps out of the pages, I read her books over and over again, but this one is my favorite!
Rating: Summary: This was the worst! Review: I find it hard to believe that this book was written by the same woman that brought us the james river trilogy and other wonderful books. This was, by far, one of the worst books I have ever read. It was not only boring, but the characters were totally unsympathetic, the plot, what little there was, was convulted, and upon finishing the book, my only desire was to warn others not to waste their time.
Rating: Summary: Deveraux's best Review: I have read most of Deveraux's work and I have to say that the Duchess is my all time favorite work of hers. I loved the characters and the predicament that they found themselves in. Him not wanting to lose her but also not wanting to take the responsibility of his birth. Her not wanting to disappoint her sister yet wanting to be with Treveylan (sp) instead of Harry. I have read this story at least five times and it just keeps getting better.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: I couldnt put this one down! The characters were all interesting and setting in Scotland was intreging.Great characters you wanted to love and hate...one of Deveraux's best.
Rating: Summary: It was good...but it kinda dragged on and on... Review: First, let me say, that I am a huge fan of Jude Deveraux, andall of her books please me. How ever, this book did not seem to havemuch...I guess you'd have to say passion until you are about 3/4 through with the book. But two things I will give it is I did like the characters and I think it had a fairly good plot.
