Summary: Very insightful, but with reservations.
Review: When I picked up this book I was convinced of nothing. From the opening pages the book was very compelling. The life of the lady was fascinating and the evidence against suicide convinced me. How could she have downed all those pills when the officer who searched the room found no glass of water? Why was the body positioned with face to the bed with arms by her side, when victims of barbituate overdose suffer convulsions until they die in a contorted position? The autopsy evidence seemed pretty incontrovertible. The barbituates in her blood analyzed by toxicologist Abernathy showed it would have been enough to kill 9-20 people! But the examination of the victim's stomach incredibly revealed No Trace of the drug. While this makes the case for suicide seem flimsy I have real reservations about the conclusive theory that Robert Kennedy actually showed up at MM's with two thugs and did her in, personally, (when he could have just ordered it) eyewitnessed by Norman Jeffreys and his mother. If they are eyewitnesses then why the heck are they still alive? RK must have been not only deranged, but a reckless imbecile. My loyalties are firmly with Norma Jeanne over the lot of the Kennedy's any day. She was truly a great and wonderful woman. She is fascinating and sad in that she never attained what she wanted most in life, and was denied as a child- to give and recieve love. Whatever the truth is it is clear that evidence is being kept from us, and a true investigation has not yet been allowed to come forth. I wish I could do more than just hope for the truth to come to light.

Summary: One of the best written about M'M
Review: This book is absolutely great. I've read a few of other books about her and this has got to be one of the best. I wasn't able to let it down until I just had to rest. I felt so sad - it really moved me. The book was very realistic to me about a girl striving for the love that she deserve but never really achieve. I like the part about the autopsy where it was describe in very good details. There are so many books written about her but this one you have got to read.

Summary: good research
Review: Wolfe presents an exhaustive amount of research on the events surrounding Monroe's death and her state of mind at the time. You may agree with the author's conclusions (he says Robert Kennedy killed her) or reach your own conclusions. (I think her shrink did it.) The book throughly covers the mood in L.A. at the time and I liked it for that as well as its exploration of Marilyn's death. The book only needs a bit more comment on Monroe's psychology to make it authoritative.

Summary: Big Piece of the Puzzle
Review: Really well documented and exhaustive investigation about Marilyn's last days. This book brings new evidence and realistic facts about a possible (and probable) conspiracy that could have taken place in 1962 and reviews in detail what could have been the role of Marilyn's entourage in the murder. One of the most fascinating books about Marilyn because it finally gives a good example a journalism and avoids speculation about . Highly recommended !

Summary: Most extensive evidence supporting Marilyn's murder!
Review: I am barely halfway through this book, and yet, I am compelled to write this review. This is the most evidence compiled in one book to support the fact that Marilyn Monroe was murdered. I hope that, within my lifetime, the district attorney in L.A., has the guts/balls to order another autopsy on Marilyn and discover the truth. With today's forensic technology, I'm certain they could discover the true cause of her death. But, even now, the forces that hid the truth all these years will, most likely, prevail, and continue to obscure the truth with bribes, money, threats, and blackmail.

Summary: This is one of the best books I ever read. Very interesting
Review: I couldn't put it down. I read it in two days. I believe this is really what happened in Marilyn Monroe's life. It does have it's touching moments. If you like MM definitely buy this book. A+++++++++++++

Summary: Stunning and engrossing
Review: I must agree with the other people who have offered reviews about this book. If you have been teetering over the suicide/murder scenario since that fateful day in August, 1962...then this book should put to rest any questions you may have over how Marilyn Monrie died. There is no question in my mind that it was murder. It's right there in black and white and it is totally infuriating that a new, honest investigation has never taken place. Wolfe thoroughly researched this with all resources he could get his hands on. It's disgusting that so much vital evidence has mysteriously disappeared. A new investigation needs to take place now. We've already lost some major witnesses over the years and survivors like Pat Newcomb and Norman Jeffries won't live forever. As far as the book itself. It is hard to put this book down. However, the only reason I don't rate it a "5" is because a lot of pages are spent on Marilyn's life story. I've read that all before. But these new revelations from Jeffries cannot be ignored.

Summary: Difficult to refute author's evidence
Review: I've always been somewhat ambivalent about the conspiracy theories surrounding Marilyn's death & have vacillated between the foul play line & that she took an accidental overdose. I read Anthony Summers' "Goddess" when it was first published & was certainly of the conviction that there was indeed foul play. Having just read the first part of this book & skipped to the end missing out the biographical element of the middle section, I am yet again convinced that at best there was one huge cover-up to protect RFK and at worst that he actually had a direct hand in the deed or was at least present when the fatal barbiturate dose was adminstered. Earlier books I've read have all indeed questioned the validity of Marilyn's bedroom being the scene of death, no water present, the body lying in an unusual position, no evidence of convulsions or vomit which is usually the case with overdoses etc etc etc

It is certainly difficult to refute the evidence presented in this book & the various testimonies that have only just come to light, ie those of Norman Jeffries (this I had never read about before & I've read numerous MM biogs) and of the ambulence driver James Hall. The events that the author concludes took place that night are totally plausible, but what is surprising is the fact that this disparate group of people present when MM died all conspired over the years & colluded in this cover up. The numerous versions of the suicide theory are all fatally flawed & key witnesses such as Eunice Murray the housekeeper have constantly changed their stories over the years - lending them no crediblity whatsoever. However, it is unfortunate that we will never ever know for sure as RFK, Ralph Greenson & Peter Lawford all took their secrets to the grave with them.

This is indeed a compelling read, although sometimes I found I was so bombarded with facts that it was a little difficult to absorb.

If you're an MM fan, then read this book & Anthony Summers'"Goddess".
