Summary: The Book is DOA
Review: The plot of this book has all the sizzle of a wet firecracker. Everyone's motives are either unclear or shallow and seem forced to fit the plot. Kaldak's portrayal of macho hunk with soft heart and sad past is a stereotype that went out of style a generation ago. Why on earth he allowed himself as a CIA professional to be led around by the nose by a bossy female photographer is beyond me. Beth Grady was so annoying... Although Kaldak returns to Beth in the epilogue, it's not clear what motivated him or why she chose to accept him back no questions asked. Consequently the scene lacks power.

Instead of Beth coming across as a tough female not in need of male rescuing, she appears blindly stubborn to the point of stupidity. Her risk taking was foolhardy in the extreme. And I found it difficult to believe that any woman who'd never fired a gun could pluck one from the ground, aim, and blow somebody's forehead off. The entire story was both difficult to believe and predictable as yesterday's weather (Kaldak-Beth-Josie was a foregone conclusion). The only suspense was whether or not I would stay awake long enough to finish it (I did- barely). Give this one a miss unless you're desperate and your only other choice of reading material is an article about gum disease.

Summary: Hard to get through
Review: This book was alright. I bought it because I enjoyed Johansen's other books (Face of Deception & Ugly Duckling), but this one wasn't up to par. It was very drawn out, and at times I just put it down because I couldn't stand reading it anymore. Once I got over the middle portion (which seemed like the longest part) the end went by a lot faster. Wouldn't be on the top of my list of recommendations.

Summary: Read And Die of Boredom
Review: This is without a doubt the most insipid book I've read in a long time. I found the characters unbelievable and the plot unrealistic. Bess, the main character was a real witch. This was "formula" writing at its worst. I wouldn't waste my money on it.

Summary: I.J.'s thrilling and enchanting style
Review: I really enjoy IJ's work and how she keeps me on the edge of my seat. I listened to the unabridged version while doing housework and found myself listening in the car as well. I would recommend it. Bess can be a little pain at times, but I got over that. Kaldak was actually not a gorgeous stud, but that made it all the more believable. Check it out.

Summary: My Favorite by Johansen
Review: And Then You Die has easily been placed at the top of my favorite book list. Some of the reviews complain that some of the events in the book aren't quite believable. Well I don't think they are meant to be. We all watch James Bond and and love every second even though it goes outside the bounds of plausibility. Bess makes a great heroine and Kaldak is a great combination of nail hard toughness and some well disguised compassion. The plot takes off at lightning speed from the second you open the book and you turn the last page with a definite groan of disappointment. If you are a Mary Higgins Clark fan this is the best treat you could give yourself. Iris Johansen takes the suspense/romance genre to a new level.

Summary: THIS IS DEFINATLY THE BEST BOOK IVE EVER READ!
Review: I absolutly loved this book. When I first picked it out it was an assignment to read and thriller youd like. Well I choose this one from the editorial on the back cover and I loved it. The twisted plot and unexpected deception was great! I would recommend this book to anyone. I was on the edge of my seat reading this and I can guarantee you will be to! You have got to buy this book, it is so suspensful. Bess and Kaldak were perfect characters Iris Johansen is a pure guiness. I am not a big reader but Id read this book 100x.

Summary: It was a great book.
Review: This wasn't my first Iris Johanssen novel, before it, I had read, Long Before Midnight, but had not liked it. It was okay, but I didn't like the part when Noah is killed. But I decided to try another, and I,m glad I did, becasue it was great. Bess Grady is a very cool heroine. The romance between her and Kaldak was very intersting, and I love how she twists everything around.

Summary: Recommended to all my friends
Review: Iris Johansen knows how to scare you and knows how to make a story so believable that you are fearful it will happen. What Bess Grady sees is beyond horrible. In a small town, on a normal day.....everyone dies...why? what you find out will make your blood run cold....I can't say more else i'll give the plot away....enjoy

Summary: And Then You Die
Review: I did not like this novel at all. The characters were annoying and not very believable. I had to force myself to finish the book. Definetly not one of Iris' better novels! I would skip over this one if I had a choice.
