Review: Mary Higgins Clark was born and raised in New York. She worked as an advertising agent before she became a famous writer. She won numerous awards and has received thriteen honorary doctorates. The story, While My Pretty One Sleeps, takes place in NY city during the 1980's over a seventeen year period. This story is about a woman named Neeve Kearny who is in search of her mother's killer. The story begins with the murder of Ethel Lambston, a famous writer. Neeve asks Ethel's nephew, Jack, for his assistance in finding the murderer. Throughout the novel, the reader encounters numerous suspects, but does not learn the identity of the killer until the book's end. Neeve's persistence in searching for the killer finally pays off. Clark uses several figurative devices to move the suspense along in the book. Her use of foreshadowing hints at several would-be killers from Ethel Lambstons own husband to men asociated with the New York mafia network. Only the least obvious clues, of course, point to the real killer. Clark also includes much allusion by mentioning famous landmarks and fashion designers from NY city, such as the Garment District, and Calvin Klein. These only add to the reality of the story. In addition, hyperbole can be found throughout the book and adds a touch of humor now and then to lighten the dark, somber mood. For example, "Ethel talked his ear off" and again with, "Seamus felt chilled to the bone." Her use of figurative devices make the novel interesting to read and add a touch of realism to the story. The novel was 318 pages long and held my interest from the beginning to the end. While My Pretty One Sleeps contained many characters which made the story a little confusing and some of the suspects become obvious, but the identity of the real killer was kept well-hidden to the very end.

Review: Mary Higgins Clark weaves together suspense, murder, and a love story in While My Pretty One Sleeps. Neeve Kearny, the daughter of the ex-police commissioner, owns a dress shop that fashions dresses for the rich. She has befriended a customer, Ethel Lambston, who writes gossip articles. Ethel's sudden leave of absence has left Neeve puzzled as to her whereabouts. When Neeve finds out Ethel is dead, her father fears for Neeve's life. After his wife's murder, Myles has been a bit over-protective of Neeve, his only child. When Myles finds out his daughter is in trouble, it may be too late to save her from the fate her mother suffered. Neeve Kearny is a fashion expert with a trusting disposition. As the evidence in Ethel's murder unfolds, Neeve searches in every corner to find out what really happened in this case. When the facts aren't found, she becomes curious. Neeve really knows her stuff in the fashion industry, which helps in the case of Ethel's murder. However, she is too trusting, which gets her in trouble, especially near the end of the novel. Myles has great instinct, but he lets this trait prevent him from enjoying his life and moving on after his wife's death. While his pretty one sleeps, Myles worries about the other girl in his life: his daughter. The twist at the end of this novel leaves the reader wondering how reality is still the truth. While My Pretty One Sleeps holds new possibilities at the turn of each page. The novel has only one fault; the reader can't put it down! In this book the reader finds he can trust no one. Mary Higgins Clark makes the facts seem fictional and the truth seem unimaginable. While My Pretty One Sleeps challenges the reader to question his own trusting lifestyle.

Review: The Climax never ended for me! Page after Page, I stayed on edge and could NOT put the book down. Mary Higgins-Clark is well spoken and got the point through to me as NO other writer could! I reccomend this book to anyone who is into suspenseful and mind boggling novels!I look forward to reading more of her novels!

Review: This 318 page book keeps the reader guessing " Who done it?" until the very end of the novel . While My Pretty One Sleeps is about a fashion designer named Neeve Kearny who is in search of her mother's killer. With the help of Ethel Lambston's nephew, Jack Cambell whose aunt is also killed, the two solve the crimes. A long the way they discover several suspects ranging from Nick Sepetti, who was member of a mafia family to Seamus Lambston, the husband of the latest murdered victim. This book was an interesting suspense thriller.

Review: This book was just so full of excitement, it was hard to put it down.
The book just takes you through one event after another from murders
to mobsters and even to love. Who would have imagined that a stray
remark from a journalist would tigger off a series of murder and mayhem.
With the murder of her friend, Ethel, Neeve is determined to find the
killer and then proceedes to find a lot of hidden truths, even some
that are too close to home. The ending will definitely surprise
people, because that is just what it did to me! Way better than a 10!!!
