Rating: Summary: Another great success by Mary Higgins Clark.... Review: "While My Pretty One Sleeps" is another great novel that adds to the proof of Mary Higgins Clark's great writing talent. I gave this novel five stars because it was a great book packed with mystery and suspense. Once you pick it up you do not want to put it down. The mystery begins to unfold with the disappearance of the famous gossip columnist Ethel Lambston. Neeve Kearney a fashion boutique owner, in which Lambston shops, realizes that something is wrong and does not rest until she gets answers to all of the mysterious questions that begin to unfold. This is an absolutely wonderful novel. Any person that enjoys Mary Higgins Clark or likes mysteries should definitely pick up this book.
Rating: Summary: pick the murderer! Review: A fashion writer who is about to leak some important information to the fashion world disappears and is later discovered murdered. Fashion designers, her nephew and ex husband and second wife all have something to hide. The question is - who has the most to hide and who will act on it?This story is full of wonderful suspense and it kept me guessing all the way through to the end.
Rating: Summary: NEW #1 FAN OF MARY HIGGINS CLARK...CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT ONE! Review: A great book. I couldn't put this book down. Since the summer is here, I'm promoting reading with my children. Even after they were sleeping I continued to read!!! I can't wait to read the next one!!!
Rating: Summary: Suspenseful and exciting Review: A slow start builds into a fascinating and suspenseful book. All the characters are well-built, and although the plethora of characters makes the book sometimes a little bit confusing, it's really just intricately plotted. This is just as good as Clark's Let Me Call You Sweetheart.
Rating: Summary: I'm sorry, but WHY.... Review: do people feel the need to completely summarize the novel?? No one wants to read these reviews because they are simply recapturing what the novel is about. It's a REVIEW -- review it!! Anyways, I give this book five stars, because like all of MHC's books, it's very intriguing. I like the backdrop of the fashion world. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Can Journalism Kill? Review: Ethel Lambston's body was found. The main suspects for the murder are: Douglas Brown, her nephew who will get all her money if she dies (she is rich), and her ex-husband, Seamus Lambston who has been giving her alimony checks ever since the divorce. All the clues point to both the suspects. When Neeve's mother was killed, her family thought it was Nicky Spetti, but when Ethel's throat is the same as the one on her mother's neck, Neeve thinks otherwise. I liked this book a lot. There were three suspects, and you never know who did it until the last four pages. It was a page-turner. Also, this book was just real confusing, and that is what makes it so good. It is just one of those books that you can't put down. Wouldn't you like to read a book like this? I am pretty sure that I would. That is why I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in reading it. I read tons of books than this one. In the others you normally find out who killed the person in the middle, but then you have to find the person. In this one you find out in the last pages, and the person is right there. I think that this is one of Marry Higgins Clark's best books. I may have rated it a four, but that is because I think it could have ended a little bit sooner. I don't think that it should've been dragged on so long. It kind of made the book a little bit boring. Also, the book itself could have been more into the story. I mean, it really didn't need the part about her mom dieing, that could've been left out and they still could've found out who the murderer is, because it is a book, not real life/
Rating: Summary: great, great book Review: I am a fashion designer, like Neeve, and I could not put this book down. It was full of suspense, I love it. The killer, criminal was a great surprise. You'll never guess who it is. I didnt enjoy, but didnt really mind, that their were so many different characters and plots. I strongly urge you to read thid book. It is realistic, and honestly displays human emotions. The wholw time I really wanted to be part of that family, they were actully very famous, yet kept sain and grounded lives. Its a great, great book.
Rating: Summary: This book was great! Review: I am an 8th grader. I have read almost all of Mary Higgins Clark's books and I absolutely love all of them. This one probably average for her which is really good. At the end, I was really surprised at the killer but realized that there had been many clues I missed along the way. (I read it in 2 days.) Anyway, if you like any of her other books you'll probably like this one too!
Rating: Summary: It wasn't all that great. Review: I am still a big Mary Higgins Clark fan, but I am sick of her portraying men in her novels with seemingly irreversible flaws while the women have the endurance and character of Wonder Woman. While her stories are fictional, can we at least stop living in a perfect world? Every woman on earth is not supermodel material. I say this because if I read about another perfectly formed woman who is not a day past 25 and can solve a murder within three days, I'm going to scream. The men, of course, are either good looking for their age (i.e. - they looked good a long time ago or they have potential but they don't utilize it) or bald, fat, ugly, and chauvenistic. This book came highly recommended to me by a family member. Frankly, it was a boring read and I only read all of the book out of respect for my family member. I could put it down very easily and I found the lead characters unbelievably boring. The murderer was a disappointing surprise (yet again another male). Also, it is good to give details about surroundings in books, but enough is enough. It's great that the author has a niche for fine fashion (and this was a fashion book), but the constant descriptions of sweaters, skirts, and blouses added to the consistent boredom of the novel. Funny thing though, I just picked up a copy of We'll Meet Again. Yet again there is another female heroine with uncanny youthful looks who will undoubtedly solve another murder (probably by a man again) within three days. Remember Me and Weep No More My Lady were typical Mary Higgins Clark books but with more excitement. This is probably due to more characters who were diverse enough to carry a novel. I believe I'll start saturating my mystery collection with other authors - for at least SOME variety.
