Rating: Summary: great audio CD Review: Either this is a terrific book or else all audiobooks should be read by Gregory Harrison. I listened to this book during a 6 hour drive and the time passed very quickly because I was so involved with the story. Harrison's intonations were a perfect match for Siegel's style.
Rating: Summary: Talk about a bad day... Review: I was on vacation in New York City earlier this year, and on my subway ride to the Statue of Liberty I saw a woman reading this book. Proof that I can find reading suggestions EVERYWHERE I go! I immediately bought this book and devoured every page.Derailed tells the story of Charles Schine about his amazing twist of fate. Running late for work one morning, Charles is forced to take a later train. On this train he meets the beautiful Lucinda -- Lucinda of the short skirt and long legs. Shortly, Charles and Lucinda strike up a conversation, which soon turns into a heated affair. But this seemingly fun, passionate thing (albeit adulturous) becomes the spark to ignite the flame, and Charles's world comes crashing down around him. One thing after another, like a horrid chain of dominoes.... I was utterly fascinated by this story. Would make one think twice before cheating on their spouse, that's for sure! Maybe this book should be on every brides' wishlist!! I will most definitely read another book by James Siegel. He did an awesome job with this one and kept me entertained from the very beginning.
Rating: Summary: Lucinda Harris is irresistable... Review: or at least she becomes so to Charles Schine, after an encounter on the train. Charles' marriage and job have him off-center, and he's worried about his daughter, who has a severe and risky case of juvenile diabetes (an interesting and informative portrait of how devastating it can be!). The attraction with Lucinda is mutual, but during their first assignation, they are the victims of an unspeakable crime. You'll be dazed by how quickly Charles' life starts to go down the drain, and, while he's sometimes hard to like, you'll find yourself rooting for him to try and get out from under the devastation that has overtaken his life. Siegel's a great new voice! Big 5 stars- a page turner!
Rating: Summary: Not bad, not exceptional Review: This book presents Charles Schine, a true weasel of a main character who cheats on his wife and then expects sympathy for getting in trouble over it. Charles is definitely not the brightest bulb in the box, but the extortion he faces makes for some strong tension and conflict. Overall, a decent read with one glaring blunder: a simply preposterous deus ex machina that saves Charles' life. Not to spoil it for you but imagine you're about to get broadsided by a speeding Hummer and an angel miraculously soars down on wings and lifts you to safety. What happens in this book at one of the most pivotal moments of conflict is just that absurd. Siegel's editor must have been taking a snooze!
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: I'm not much of a reader, but I received this book as a gift. As a 16 year old female who doesn't enjoy reading all that much, this is a book I couldn't put down! I'd read a few chapters everynight from midnight...to 5am! I lost track of time and was so absorbed in the book. This book is definitly a goodie...I think it would be great as a movie too!
Rating: Summary: Could Not Put This Down! Review: Have you ever seen a good looking women or man on the train or bus? Many of us have lustful thoughts that are just as quickly pushed aside and we move on with our normal lives. What would happen if you didn't? That is the premise for this taut thriller: what happens if act on those thoughts. The best part of this book presents the story in a believable, true-to-life, format.
Rating: Summary: WOW! A GENUINE PAGE-TURNER Review: I got this book last night, and less than 24 hours later I have finished it -- I literally couldn't put it down!! Excellent story and enough twists and turns to keep anyone guessing. I can already picture Tim Robbins as Charles in the film version...
Rating: Summary: Suspense Review: In the beginning the book was lacking, but as the book progressit became very intertesting. I enjoyed reading this. I love the suspense and the twist throught the book.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK DELIVERS THE GOODS!!! Review: Usually taking my time with good contempory fiction/thrillers(ie Connelly, etc etc}..not with this one!! Although it gets a little disturbing{to say the least} I put it up their with the best I"ve read in quite a while. {Connelly out of L.A. and hits the L.I.R.R...better than he could of done it himself!! Up there with Bloodwork!. A Friggin great read,as Patterson says..SEIGAL HAS ARRIVED!! This book,95 percent plausible sans the OKLAHOMA bomber saving his life at the last minute, hey, chance,as Seigal conveys....has it all..It holds you, puts you there , and goes a little deeper..could be a great flick, but the book already puts you on the screen.. I"ll probaly check out his first release, but more likely, be looking for his next one..Michael, you"ve got some company!
Rating: Summary: Wow-It's great Review: I bought this book thinking this author might have a new take on people who just seem to get in trouble and with whom you might identify. I'm not a guy but did I ever feel sorry for this man. It pays not to mess around but once he did it was unbelievable how horrible his life became. I really got to care about him and his family and I wanted to get to the end of the book so I could stop worrying about them-sounds silly but the author made them so real to life that you wanted to see him get out of the mess he was in. I read the book straight through-couldn't put it down. Don't often find a writer who can create a caracter so real that you feel his pain and boy did I hate the villans. Awesome writer-Will buy every book he writes-he's great!! He's up there with my favorites- J.Deaver, H.Corben and R.Crais. All consistent winners.
