Rating: Summary: A MOVING JUGGERNAUT OF A TALE! Review: Now this storyline in this book starts out entirely different than all the others and is a breath of fresh air. From beginning to end there is movement to bright locales filled with action and adventure, now this is what action/adventure seekers crave and find in this latest novel. The story is told very colorfully with great action sequences that are told with panache. I felt like I was reading a novel with a mix of road warrior meets james bond! This was a fabulous storyline from start to finish. And Ambika is awesome! The amazon-warrior woman is legendary even before you meet her, and when you finally do, the character is so interesting and fresh, the pages sizzle with sex appeal and danger! Kane and her together will keep you reading until the wee hours of the night. Mel Odom's help in this latest novel must have been a great help with the other writer, and in this latest installment - they made a very rich and engrossing, character-rich story. The western isles and its many-faceted locales made this a novel of bright insight and built a whole new world that was never boring and a great, fun read! I can't wait for the next one with this new character in it. Great job you writers, and keep up this high quality story-telling. The outlanders readers will have a ball with this one!
Rating: Summary: Another great book Review: Once again Outlanders doesn't disappoint, always giving the reader plenty of action, adventure and interesting plot twists--and in this one, a great and a new sexy character with Ambika! I never get tired of reading this series. It's not predictable and every book has its surprises. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Great new character Review: One of the things that makes Outlanders so much fun to read is all the interesting villains. But they've never met a female villain before (unless you count Tara or Beth-li) and Ambika is one of the very best. The whole book was packed with action and my only complaint is that Brigid didn't have much to do in this book. She's still angry with Kane for what happened in the previous book and the tension between them gave their relationship a different slant but the introduction of Ambika more than made up for it. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Serious Smack Down! Review: The latest in the Outlanders series starts out a 100 miles an hour and only slow downs to 90. I won't say it's a breath of fresh air since all the established elements we readers have come to expect are present and accounted for but it's a change of pace. Although there's less focus on plot and character than is usual for an Outlanders, the headlong pace and serious smack down sequences more than make up for it. Ambika, the Lionness of the Isles is fascinating and even admirable despite some of the nasty things she does. There are also a lot of interesting and colorful locales which I hope our heroes return to in future books. My only criticism of this novel was that the basic storyline was a little too "Deathlandish" compared to most books in the series, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the novel.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining and engaging Review: This entry into the Outlanders series was very entertaining with an engaging new character and new locales. Some of the on-going characters were relegated to the back seat but the book still held my interest all the way through
Rating: Summary: Arch-Amazon Review: This was a solid but kind of simplistic entry in the Outlandersseries with a strong central adversary in Ambika...though she came offas Xena's evil twin. She was just a little too much of the arch-Amazon to be be believable. All in all, it was a fun book with plenty of action and energy.
Rating: Summary: Excellent work! Review: Wreath of Fire is an exceptionally well written novel. Mel Odom was able to introduce a brand new enemy in the form of a sensual female warrior named Ambika. He did an excellent job in bringing over the tension between Kane and Brigid and was able to write the characters in the manner that we've all come to expect over the past few years. He also did a wonderful job in bringing up new questions regarding the Barons and their needs for ore and computer equipment. The data brought up about the western islands was very well written and I enjoyed the history that he created for the novel. That includes all the history on Ambika as well. This novel is an exceptional tale and I hope that Mel will continue to produce them when he gets the time from his hectic writing schedule.
