Summary: Feel the urge to hunt...
Review: This tale makes one feel as if they are actually living through a dinosaur, thinking with it's predacious mind and feeling with it's reptillian senses. Oddly enough, the feeling isn't like being trapped inside a stupid cow- Bakker conveys the stealthy raptor as an intelligent rouge, a nomadic hunter which will do anything it has to to survive. A perfect find for all the Jurassic Park fans out there

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Please Dr. Bakker, write another one!
Review: This is one of the best books that you can find. An instant classic. A story of life in the time of the dinosaurs, Raptor Red takes you through natural disasters, parasites, and even ocean life in this exciting, never-put-it-down book. You will never regret reading it.

Summary: Prehistoricly Fantastic!
Review: Can you imagine a love story twenty two million years ago? Probably can't, right? Then read Raptor Red. No, it isn't about cavemen (Homo sapiens didn't exist then); it's about Utahraptors. There are three ways to read this book: one, read it by yourself; two, read it to a dinomaniac kid; or three, listen to it on tape (okay that's not a way to read it but you get the idea). All in all Raptor Red is one of the best fictional dinosaur books ever written.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A fierce and gripping story
Review: Raptor Red takes you back to a convincingly realistic prehistoric atmosphere. The way Bakker describes the animals` thoughts make you believe it could very well be the way Utahraptor thought long ago. An informative as well as exciting masterpiece for any dinosaur lover.

Summary: Fantastic
Review: This book is by far the best book I have ever read. It is very captivating, and by far is the best dinosaur story to date. Even Crichton couldn't write a story in the dinosaurs perspective. I am a student in high school, and can't wait to start a job as a palenotologist (sp?). I hope one day to meet Mr. Bakker, and maybe even write my own story about the great Utahraptor.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An excellent vehicle for Bakker's "Heresies"
Review: Robert Bakker has found the perfect platform to convey his theories of paleontology. It comes in the form of a snapshot of the life of a transplanted utahraptor. Through the eyes of his intelligent and widowed uber-predator Bakker espouses theories on everything from dromeosaur intelligence to evolutionary mechanisms. These elements of theory more than makes up for the story which, while exciting, is a bit lacking for literary merit.

While the two pieces are not in themselves the greatest this book proves that the whole is much more than the sum of its parts. The combination of the science and fiction makes for a wonderful read, especially if one is familiar with Bakker's earlier The Dinosaur Heresies which forms the basis for much of the story.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking for an entertaining read built from a solid foundation of paleontological thought. Anyone looking for only a novel or paleontology text, however, may find themselves a bit disappointed.

Summary: Oh, to live in the Cretaceous . . .
Review: Raptor Red is, in my opinion, one of the best books ever written. It tells the story of a female Utahraptor ostrommaysorum who must find a mate that her over-aggresive sister won't tear apart. Ok, that's over-simplifying a bit, but you get the idea. This book contains up-to-date(at the time) theories and perfect pacing with Bakker's top-notch illustrations to take a trip back in time to the Early Cretaceous. Just imagine all the "raptors" sporting feathers and you're all set.

I was fortunate enough to purchase the hardcover edition of this book, sans the ludicrous hologram cover.

Summary: Run wild with this book! (I did.)
Review: This is a magnificent story. You'd think it was just capitalizing on the "Jurassic Park" craze but "Raptor Red" changed my life. Red is truly heroic. And of course, Astrodon (to me) is literally unforgettable. Few books have inspired me like "Raptor Red." It made me want to write my own novel. Those of you who know me know that's exactly what I did, and that Red is in it, and as for Astrodon... Well, the dragons and I will never be the same.

Magnificent. Just... magnificent.

Summary: Better than Jurassic Park!
Review: Raptor Red is an incredible story of suvival, as you follow the story of a young female Utahraptor in a struggle for suvival in the Late Jurassic. The female who knows herself as " me...raptor...red..." Or Raptor Red, loses her mate in a bizzare twist of events during a hunt. She is forced to suvive in a world with no sympathy, and where you may be next on a menu. Raptor Red keeps an intresting pace, and always brings something new into the story to spark your intrest. Each character you will adore as well as hate, and the story seems to broadcast a theme: No matter how bad something seems, you can always get back up. I really enjoyed Raptor Red, it's easy to read and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Review: Hi, my nickname is Lethal Raptor and I love all dinosaurs! And when a friend recommended this book I thought it would just be a normal everyday book that you read to pass your time. So I got it. Then I read it. The first few pages were just like any other except with a little bit more excitement and feeling. Then I actually started to get addicted. I found myself reading all of it. It is the best book I have ever read. I bet Robert T. Bakker put alot of effort in it! And he sure got my vote! I recommend this book like my friend did. Get it from the library or something but just do get it. You will be really glad I told you about it.
