Rating: Summary: A little of everything and whole lot of nothing Review: A few times in my life a have encountered a page turner crafted with artistry, One filled with credible super monsters and epic heros. This wasn't it. The creature herein is part Frankenstine, dracula, preditor and Terminator. Mr. Huggins hasn't discovered that if BIGGER WERE BETER, Ms. American would weigh 400 pounds. Every description of the villan is that he's bad...real bad..strong, real strong ad nausem..real nauseum.
Rating: Summary: Non-stop action Review: CAIN the title caught my attention right away. When I read the back of the book I knew it it would be a nonstop thriller.I seriously consider you make a movie about this.Don't give Solomon and Cain parts to some weakling. They have to have a strong build considering all the hell Solomon got put through. You have to give the part to an actor that isn't very famous. someone who is willing to go all out on the action.I read this book non-stop. Huggins should be proud of this book. Who cares what other people say about it. I thought it was awesome
Rating: Summary: Biblical Fury meets High-Tech Military Commando! Review: CAIN is a good read if you know what to expect from it. By this I mean it's not Shakespeare, or Milton, or Tolstoy. Simply, it's exciting, fast-paced, and adrenalized food for the senses. It may be a little far-fetched, but if you're looking for something to lose yourself in for a couple of hours, then CAIN is definitely worth it. CAIN includes both Biblical fact along with awesome modern military armament to bring a truly FUN story to life. It follows a predictable formula, but offers an incredible number of vivid and action-packed images! Perfect for the action enthusiast!
Rating: Summary: Link of the year Review: I work in a public library and saw Cain on the shelf. I was instantly attracted to the cover and immediatly linked the book (or readied it for check-out). WOW, best book I read all year, granted the details are a bit sketchy, but Cain is an awesome villian, not quite as bad as what Satan would be if he were released, but awesome!! Good job Mr. Huggins, I'll pick up more of your work soon.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant, suspenseful...kept my interest till the last page Review: This book was a VERY welcome change of pace. It was very entertaining and I encourage anyone who like science fiction and classic "Good vs. Evil" books to grab this one ASAP. There's plenty of plot twists and suspenseful moments to keep you entertained until the final page. The story itself borderlines an epic. I highly suggest that you read this book.
Rating: Summary: I wish I could give it no stars Review: I can't believe that garbage like this is produced by a major publishing house. With thousands of new writers with far better ideas trying to break into the industry, the fact that Huggins is taking up valued space is an unpardonable sin. This guy has about as much creativity and originality as a pie in the face. Which is what the reader feels is happening as they waste time on such claptrap. IQ points literally fall away with each turn of the page. Huggins uses some of the same phrases and descriptions repeatedly which shows the kind of keen eye he turned towards his work. I was not surprised to learn that Huggins is now one of "Hollywood's most sought-after screenwriters." If lame plots, hilariously bad dialogue, one-dimensional characters, and generally uninspired tales are valued in Hollywood, then Huggins will have a long career ahead of him. After all, he's displayed these same traits expertly in this trash.
Rating: Summary: Cain mixes old day religion with new day horror stories. Review: Cain is a great book if you don't get caught up in the author's mistakes he made about some of the weapons. But the action scenes have some great detail. However, some of the pieces of the story just fit together too nicely to think it possible in the real world. Sol lost his wife and daughter, but found a woman with a little girl, just about the same age as the one he lost, to take thier place. I still liked the book, it was a page-turner for me.
Rating: Summary: Put your brain on hold... Review: First off, there is nothing wrong with what one of my English Lit professors called, "popcorn for the brain". Sometimes all we want or need is a good, engaging story that will do no more or less than entertain us. That said though.... Cain is about as simplistic as they come. The action sequences are well done (and I'm sure this will make a pretty good movie someday), but the characters are so wooden that they leave splinters! That makes the story drag on almost endlessly in some scenes. The dialogue spoken by some of the characters (especially some of the religious figures) is absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure that it was written this way to show that these are highly intelligent people involved in an extraordinary, horrific siuation, but it reads horribly. Whenever you know that you're reading dialogue instead of feeling as if you're hearing people talk, you know there's a problem. I guess I'd recommend this book to someone who wants plenty of action with very little characterization, or someone who has suffered a severe head trauma.... That might make this book a little more entertaining.
Rating: Summary: A GRIPPING SCI-FI TALE WITH FANTASTIC CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! Review: A FANTASTIC READ!!! A great mixture of sci-fi fantasy. I couldnt stop reading CAIN because of the tremendous action and fabulous character development. CAIN is one of the best books I have read in a very long time! P.S. The villianous monster CAIN is one of a kind!
Rating: Summary: Comic-book style light fluff Review: This tale is good for a weekends read if there's nothing more engaging lying around. The sci-fi elements are not very well thought out, the horror elements are not very scary but the action sequences are ok. Just don't take them too seriously. This is "GooseBumps" for adults, nothing more.
