Summary: ~ The Book You Can't Put Down~
Review: Sammy Keyes is a series of books that not very many people look at and think that looks like a good book. But don't judge a book by its cover!

Sammy Keyes is a thirteen old girl who always seems to run into mysteries! Sammy lives with her grandmother because her mother left her to go to Hollywood and become an actress. In one of the books The Hollywood Mummy, Sammy wants to visit her mother. So she and her best friend Marissa get on a bus from Santa Martina to go to Hollywood! When they arrive Sammy's mom isn't very excited because she told her boss Max that she was twenty-five years old, single, and had no children! So she tells Max that they are her nieces. What will Sammy do to find ou the mystery? Well I'm not going to tell you so read the book yourself. Trust me its worth it ! You won't put it down!

I like this book because the author put alot of thought in her writing. They are better than other mysteries like Nancy Drew because Sammy is younger and more clever!

Review: Sammy Keyes was a great book. Sammy did great on finding who the murderer was. I was shocked about finding that Max was the real murderer. I liked the part when Sammy and Marissa had to wear dresses. It was sad that Le Brandi died. I think this books message was to never give up.

Summary: They keep getting better!
Review: The books in this series just keep getting better. This one was so exciting! I just couldn't put it down when I got near the end. In the beginning of the book, Sammy and her best friend, Marissa hop a bus to Hollywood to try to bring Sammy's mother back. She went off to Hollywood a year ago to try to become a star. Sammy finds out that her mother, Lana, has completely changed her look, and had a fake ID made up saying she's 25 and born on Valentine's day, when really she's 35. She obviously can't have a 13 year old daughter, so she tells everyone else in her acting agency that Sammy and Marissa are her nieces. But that night, an actress that looks just like Lana, and is trying out for the same part that Lana is trying out for, is murdered. Sammy suspects her mother of killing her and tries to find a way to prove that it wasn't her mother. Also, the head of the agency, Max Mueller has asked Lana to marry him, and he's 65 years old and still worships his wife who died 25 years ago. This book is soooo exciting, and I couldn't put it down! I definetely recommend this book to all mystery lovers and fans of the series. It's a great book!

Summary: AMAZINGLY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This book is so good it's freaky. Feisty tomboy 13-year-old detective is back and better than ever! Along with her rich and prissy yet innocent and nice best friend Marissa, she tackles Hollywood to bring her movie-star-wannabe mother Lana back to reality. They find that she changed her name to Dominique Windsor, like some aristocrat. She knocked ten years off her age and even had a fake ID. But the man Lana is dating is the strangest part of all. And smart Sammy finds a little slip-up in the story of Lana's fellow actress's death...and she will find out who killed her no matter what!

Summary: Another Great Sammy Keyes Book!
Review: This is such a GREAT book, it was probably one of my favorite Sammy keyes books! In this, Sammy catches a bus to Hollywood to visit her mom-the MOVIE STAR, with her friend Marissa. When they get there, everything goes psycho! First, Marissa and Sammy masquerade as Lana's "niece" since everyone thinks that she's ten years younger than she really is, and her mother Lana looks completely different! To top it all of, she is thinking about getting married! But the guy she is "almost engaged" to has something really weird about him-and Sammy Keyes is determined to find out!

Summary: Sammy Storms Hollywood-Sammy keyes and the Hollywood Mummy
Review: This story begins when Sammy Keyes and her best friend, Marissa set out on a Greyhound to Hollywood, where Sammy's mother is a budding starlet, on the brink of success. When they arrive at the Spanish villa where she is staying, they are suprised to find a completely new woman in her place. Her mother has completely edited her persona to a girl by the name of Dominique Windsor, ten years younger, and without a daughter. Little did Sammy know, that was the smallest of suprises. The following morning, the woman in the next room is found dead, suffocated. Sammy is soon on the case, with Marissa and the fiesty maid named Hali. Trailing through the streets of Hollywood in a battered bug, Sammy has soon begun to untangle the murky mystery- only to find that her mother is the intended victim! Can she expose the culprit and save her mother in time? Read his exciting book to find out! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystery and suspense mixed with a little humor,or who has read and liked the past Sammy Keyes books.

Summary: Whitney's review
Review: Well I don't know if you could tell but the main character of this story is Sammy Keyes. The main character (Sammy Keyes), her mother moved to Hollywood so she could pursue her acting career. She tries to find a good job in Hollywood, California. Her mother Lana Keyes lives in an apartment sort of thing with fifteen or sixteen other people, Lana's roommate LeBrandi was killed and Sammy is doing everything to figure out who killed her. She questions everyone and nobody can be trusted. She will be as sneaky and nosy as she could possibly be. Nothing stops her. The genre of my book is fiction.

I think it was a good book because it keeps you turning the pages and guessing what is going to happen next. I recommend this book to anyone that likes mysteries because through the whole story you are wondering who the killer is and what is going to happen next. Like I said people who like mysteries would really like this book probably from ages nine to 14 or 15 maybe. Well pretty much anyone though. Almost every paragraph ended with a cliff-hanger because you had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. This book was not boring at all because of all the parts in the story that made you wondering what were going to happen next.

Summary: A good read, however, don't be disapointed...
Review: Wendelin Van Draan once more draws us head first into the world of Sammy Keyes; thirteen year-old detedtive--unofficially of course. Sammy's mother ("Lady" Lana) left her to stake out success in Hollywood and Sammy has spent the last years with her Grandmother. However, Sammy is sick of waiting for her mom to get back and decides to do something about it. But when she arrives, Sammy is shocked to discover that her mother has shed 15 years off her age, changed her appearance and her name. But now that "Lady Lana" is "20" again, it would be rather suspicious if she had a 13 year old daughter, and Sammy's mom is all for sending her home on the next bus only to forget about her again. But in the midst of all this, one of actresses living in the same acting agency as Lana is murdered; suddenly, Sammy's mom is a suspect and a target and its up to Sammy to solve the twisted mystery of the Hollywood Mummy.

Okay, so this book isn't as "grasping" as the other books. In some ways, it lacks character developement and is overloaded with plot. In other words, we don't know enough about all teh characters to take a deep interest in all that they are doing. Still worth reading for fans of the series however. If you haven't read teh other books, I suggest going back and reading the first one; Sammy Keyes and the Hotel Thief, which was much better.

Happy reading always! -Lia

Summary: Round of Applause for Wendelin Van Draanen
Review: When my mother recommended the mystery Sammy Keyes and the Hollywood Mummy to me at a Scholastic Book Fair, I thought to myself, This book does not look good; mysteries are usually never interesting books. Well, I thought wrong. The wonderful mystery written by Wendelin Van Draanen turned out to be one of the best novels I have ever read. In fact, as I was reading The Hollywood Mummy, I could not put the book down, it was so well written.

What really pulled me into this book was the riveting plot that Mrs. Van Draanen thought of. She made the plot have many twists and turns inside of it, so you really never knew who the culprit was. At the same time, the plot just made you want to keep reading, and never wanting to stop. For example, Wendelin Van Draanen made the end of each chapter such a 'cliff-hanger', you just read on to the next chapter without even noticing. Another example is in chapter five, when Sammy, Lady Lana, and Marissa are breaking into LeBrandi's room so that they can wake her up. They cannot find anything to unclick LeBrandi's lock, and as they are searching through drawers, they uncover a significant clue in the mystery. What happens during that situation just makes you not want to put the book down. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries and suspense. I am sure that the next books I shall read are going to be other Sammy Keyes books.

Happy Readings----
Julia
