Summary: Typical Action Yarn
Review:
If you are a fan of action thriller novels you likely will enjoy reading The Last Family. Relatively standard fare here - highly flawed hero leads an elite force to hunt down a super-villain before he can murder one last family. While being very readable, author John Ramsey Miller doesn't offer anything really original (character-wise nor dialogue-wise) - nothing that you haven't read before. The plot had real possibilities but sort of fell apart as the supposed super-elusive villain gets caught in a relatively standard manner thus diluting the climatic suspense. Still, if you are looking for a good, quick read The Last Family wouldn't be a bad choice.

Summary: Martin Fletcher is the bad guy of the year
Review:

John Ramsey's debut novel shows us the disturbing and often revolting mind of corrupt DEA agent Martin Fletcher. Violating the Socratic rules of fiction, Fletcher kills women and children in his quest for revenge. His violence is not excused by the rather traumatizing experiences of his childhood, in fact it makes him all the more evil. In Fletcher, Miller has produced the most thouroughly evil and dangerous bad guy of the year.

The low point of the novel is the rather contrived and all-too-neat ending, which lacks the depth that characterized the rest of the novel.

Fans of other writers as varied as Tom Clancy and Ronald Kessler with appreciate this novel.

Summary: A good read if slightly flawed storytelling
Review: A great debut novel. It was hard to put dowm. Mr Miller has written a very entertaining, action-packed, fast-paced, compelling book. The characters were great, the villain was incredibly scary and believable and Paul Masterson was great, flaws and all. I can't wait to read his next novel. A sequel would be great. I highly recommend this book if you like fast-paced action. But beware if you're squeamish.

Summary: WOW, this book is "DYNAMITE".
Review: Action, Action and more Action . I was glued to my armchair, my lawnchair, and even my beachchair. For being an avid reader, I was kept spellbound from beginning to end. Hopefully Mr. Miller will grace us with a repeat in the not to distant future

Summary: THE LAST FAMILY IS THE BIRTH OF A NEW AUTHOR OF SUSPENSE...
Review: and if you read it you'll see why. It's not only suspenseful, but beautifully written with sentences that flow easily. The characters are brought to life, giving you an understanding, as well as sympathy for the family, and a hatred for Martin (the villian). The setting sets into the jigsaw puzzle, and completes the pieces to form a beautiful picture. If you adhore suspense, or just love a great story, then passing this one up would be a grave mistake. If you have read it and share the same opinion as myself, then sit tight, because his next novel, Lost and Found, is on its way.

Summary: This is the ride of the year until the last two paragraphs
Review: From page one, Mr. Miller offers a chillingly possible, compelling narrative that draws the reader into the story, without ever making it seem that he is leading you on. He balances the techno babble and precise realism characteristic of Clancy and Bond, with an understanding of people, and the way they interact, which makes the story come alive. It was a two day-- stay up until 3AM-- read for me, and one that left me anxious to see the next episode in the life of the Mastersons. Except that in the last two paragraphs, I found myself objecting-- it couldn't end this way. More the reason I cannot wait for Miller's next offering!

Summary: Very good for the 2/3 part, falling apart 1/3 in later part
Review: Great story in general but kinda fell apart and came loose in the final stage of it. This is a very talented writer with great storytelling talent. I'd love to read more of him to see if he could hold his story tight enough next time.

Summary: They don't get much better than this
Review: Have you ever read a book and wished that you could turn it into a movie. If you answered yes, then you know how I feel about The Last Family. If you said no, then read this book and find out what I am talking about. I am thoroughly convinced that no one in the Hollywood movie community reads novels. Because if they did, this book would definately be transformed onto the big screen. This is a high octane read with excellent charecters. I live in New Orleans and loved the way J.R.M. used actual buisnesses and locations of New Orleans in the book. I look forward to the sequel that has to be on the way. GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!

Summary: Real life isn't pretty, and this book illustrates that.
Review: I don't mind that Paul Masterson is not the perfect hero, who in real life is? This book grabbed me from the very beginning, and not many books do that. I have been looking for a sequel ever since. John Ramsey Miller will always have room on my bookshelf.
