Rating: Summary: Thumbs Down on This One! Review: Up to this point I have really enjoyed Erics books, but not this one! The characters were not fully developed and there was no plot to speak of ! The book just went on and on about sex! I was very disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Intense! Review: This is the first book I've read written by Eric Jerome Dickey. I was drawn in by his candid and vivid words. This book renders the reader speechless. I found myself feeling sorry for the characters. Nicole had it all. She had two lovers whose love superceded logic. But, in the end, all three of characters found growth and understanding. I loved this novel. I think Eric Jerome Dickey is a FANTASTIC writer. In fact, (don't laugh) I actually cried at the end. Eric Jerome Dickey, thanks for writing such a heartfelt, moving and sensitive story. I encourage everyone reading this post to read "Between Lovers" you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Not for me Review: Normally I fly through EJD's books and then wait anxiously for the next. In fact I depend on EJD's "flow" to help me pass time while on the treadmill. This book was a big disappointment for me. I gave it several chances to draw me in, but I finally had to put it down half way through. I like & support EJD taking chances and exploring new story lines, but this one just wasn't working for ME. ...I'll still buy your next book, but this one's out the door.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I am a huge EJD fan and have read all of his books. However, I must say that I was a little disappointed. The story seemed silly to me and just an opportunity to write about/explore "3-way" encounters. I did not grow to care for any of these characters and found them to be somewhat unrealistic. I look forward to EJD's next masterpiece. This one was not it
Rating: Summary: THIS NOVEL OFFERS YOU THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE! Review: From the moment this novel arrived at my doorstep, I launched into it and closed the cover behind me -forsaking all else except for the occasional peppered turkey on croissant. The remainder of my sustenance would come from these very powerful characters who seemed so realistic that I wondered if they knew I was there, invading their privacy. I was escorted to my front-row seat. The program read: "Ladies and Gentlemen, For The Benefit And Strengthening Of All Of Your Senses, Eric Jerome Dickey presents.........." And I stayed there. Kleenex appeared when I needed them. I gobbled up the words; dined sufficiently. And when it was time to go, I shook the pages, desperately wanting to interject my point of view. They shunned me. I guess that was appropriate. After all, it was BETWEEN LOVERS !!
Rating: Summary: Gave me a weird feeling Review: Okay. You really have to be prepared to read a book that's intense as Between Lovers. It is not the normal relationship book by any means. The characters will make you scratch your head and stare into space at times. That writer seemed to suffer from low self-esteem because no confident and strong-minded man would allow himself to continue to be involved with a woman who doesn't give anybody (male, female, or other) a solid reason to love her and sweat her like this guy and that woman did. I can see it if Nicole had her head on straight, was a good potential mother or wife, but it had been seven years since he'd been with her and for him to wait that long just to see that she was a neurotic energy-waster, well, Nicole shouldn't have been high on anybody's wish list. Okay, fine. Then some of the scenes where these three people were touching each other, I swear I felt a weird feeling pass over me, nothing I ever want to experience again. It was just a freaky strange thing. Blech. On the flip side, when it comes to situations like this, there is no one way that people can predictably respond, so maybe Mr. Writer reacted the best way he could. Maybe he had to get Nicole out his system, maybe he wanted to see who would end up being the best man. Who knows? I am not sure that this book is for everybody in the world, but it definitely wasn't one I could forget.
Rating: Summary: A change from his norm, but still a good read Review: Between Lovers is fresh look on a classic love triangle. It is the story of a man trying to outgrow his unhealthy relationship with his ex-fiance who left him at the alter seven years ago, for another woman. This story is less about the triangle but one man's journey to move on. This is a must read for anyone who has ever had a broken heart. Many people maybe turned off by the lesbian story line. However, because "the other man" is a woman, he cannot fight for her in a traditional sense. This forces the character face his feelings on an emotional and spiritual level. Mr. Dickey makes a deviation from his usual multiple person view point and only allows the males character to tell the story. At times I missed the female point of veiw, but at it's heart this story isn't about them but his journey to heal and forgive. This book is a must read for anyone who's ever had a broken heart, and for any woman who has ever wondered about how men deal with a break-up.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE THIS MAN!! Review: Eric Jerome Dickey has out done himself. All of his books are great but Between Lovers may be on my all time top ten!
Rating: Summary: Between Lovers Review: Eric Jerome Dickey has done it again. On a scale of 1 to 10 this book is a 25 and rising. I opened the book and didn't stop reading until I had finished. I have done this with all his books. I know his characters are real because they always move me to laugh, reflect, cry and stand by each and everyone of them. Eric Jerome Dickey's books are like looking in a mirror...and the more I look..the more I LOVE WHAT I SEE! Lastly, Eric Jerome Dickey is a godsend...
