Rating: Summary: Give him a break Review: I think everyone is being extremely too hard on Mr. Dickey. How many of you have ever written a book? Probably very few. It is not the easiest task to write a book, believe me, I know. I'm currently working on my first novel and it's stressful, time consuming and takes a very patient soul to get the job done. All the late night sessions at the computer, numerous drafts that have to be typed and printed, and not to mention the stress of having to cator to your publisher as well as the fans. Gesh, this man is talented, I think we can all agree on that. Right? His story is alot, 100% better than some I have read by other authors. I can't believe you all have the nerve to come down on Mr. Dickey's BETWEEN LOVERS, while authors such as Zane writing such trash as ADDICTED, gets praise for that insulting piece of "Literary trash". Personally this wasn't my favorite book, but it did have it's good points. Like I said Mr. Dickey is extremely talented, and his descriptions are breath taking. That man has a way with words. The story also flowed very well and was entertaining at best. I loved the competitive relationship between No-name, and Ayanna, she has a sazzy tongue and was an unforgettable character, to me. The whole concept of the lesbian love affair, was a bit wierd, but it was done tastefully to be written by a man. I thought the main character was spineless, and all together they were all very shallow, sex obsessed, unholy people, but dang, come on now, they're really are people out here that think and act like that. Mr. Dickey wasn't glorifying their actions, if anything by placing the preacher father (my favorite character) into the plot he condoned all of their actions. The end came smoothly and very nice, and I'm happy that no-name finally opened up his eyes. Give him a break you guys
Rating: Summary: Not one of EJD's best Review: I've read all of EJD's novels, and for the most part have enjoyed most of them. However, I didn't enjoy this one at all. The first scene was a little confusing...didn't know who was who and what was going on with the guy and Nicole...and the further I read the story just seemed bogged down in senseless sex scenes. So much so that I ended up skipping the sex scenes just to get to the rest of the story, only to become frustratated about halfway through because it seemed I could never really get to the story. Maybe it got better at the end, but I'll never find out because I couldn't make it through the end. The sex scenes, in my opinion, were too explicit, and I didn't see how they were really germane to the rest of the story (but of course since I didn't finish it maybe I missed something). EJD has always had a fresh style in his writing, something that attracted me from the first novel I read, but was clearly lacking in this story. My favorite EJD novel was Thieves' Paradise; though it was a different kind of a story for EJD, it was very good, very well written, characters that just jumped out of the pages. I hope he goes back to this style in his next novel.

Rating: Summary: Disappointed Loyal EJD Fan Review: I've been keeping up with EJD books and Between Lovers is such a disappointment. Though I knew the subject matter, I expected EJD to be simply detailing an alternative lifestyle - since everyone has a place in society. Instead, the book is about a selfish woman out to fulfill her sexual wants (not needs). The sex is explicit, the characters are shallow, and story line typical when there's shallow characters. This story would have been more appropriate in a short anthology book - not big novel.
Rating: Summary: DISAPPOINTMENT Review: I did not enjoy this book at all, I am a faithful reader of Eric Jerome Dickey books and this book did not seem to captivate me at all. Yes the love scenes was very descriptive but thats all. Their was nothing wonderful about the character Nicole that made these people fall head over heels had nothing special about her. The characters seemed under developed, nothing stood out about them. Ususally when I read a book it takes no more than 3 days tops, but this book seemed to drag for a long period of time.It did not draw me in. There was a few and I mean very few interesting scenes but overall I found it as a huge dissapointment.
Rating: Summary: Will the real EJD please stand up?!? Review: I love EJD and I buy his books faithfully and I usually enjoy them to the fullest. However....Between Lovers. PLEASE! I just could not enjoy this book because the nameless guy was a punk to the nth degree!! In light of that, I guess its best that he didn't have a name - it'll be easier to forget him. As for Nicole, I just do not understand the power of her character simply because there was really nothing special about her. She was immature, greedy, and selfish yet she seemed to have total control of her two puppets. It is sickening the way that the guy and Ayanna allowed themselves to be manipulated by her. Ayanna? I don't know what to make of her. When she first entered the storyline, she was just as annoying as the guy. But then, considering her and Nicole's situation which was revealed towards the end of the book, I could slightly understand why she did the things that she did. Overall, this is not one of EJD's best. When I read a book I like to be able to feel at least one of the characters. I couldn't do that with this book because ALL of the characters were just too pathetic. Nonetheless, I've been an EJD fan for a long time and I don't see that ever changing - EJD just missed the mark with this one.
Rating: Summary: Off The Chain Review: This book was off the hook. I couldn't put it down!! I was a little disappointed in the friends and lovers mess. Dickey deffinately redeemed himself!
Rating: Summary: selfish lover Review: This book was a good book. The title says it all,Between Lovers. Can this confuse lady make her mind up who she really wants to be with, or will they make it up for her? It has excitement to it, and its a eye opener. This book held my attention throughout the entire story. Thanks EJD
Rating: Summary: Never Read A Book Like It! Review: This book is incredible. Nicole is a playa. She has ol' Dude and Ayana. Nicole loves both and can't choose. It's not like they don't know that she is seeing another person. Ayana and ol' Dude are just hoping that she gets over the other person. Ol' Dude was Nicole's fiance, but she walked out on him. They have been going out for 7 years. I mean, why is he wasting his time with her. Ayana is willing to do anything to please Nicole, including meeting Ol'Dude. Everything gets confusing for all of the main characters. They are all trying to find themselves. Nicole is trying to please both of her lovers which is really stressful for her. There are also many sex scenes. The book starts off in a sex scene. This is very interesting. Happy reading!!
Rating: Summary: Spicy, Yet Different Review: I own every one of Eric Jerome Dickey's novels and I've enjoyed them all. But I have to say that I enjoyed this one the least. The narrative is less straight forward than in his other novels -and I guess that's okay. But what I didn't like was that the novel seemed bogged down with sexuality. After awhile, I found myself skipping over the sex parts to figure out exactly WHY Nicole was so darned lovable - especially why was she lovable enough to string two people along for the better part of a decade. Her character seemed selfish and flighty to me. The point is, in reading this book, I felt that EJD was trying to explain something...but I never figured out what that something was. If you like spicy, mysterious erotica, then buy this book. If you want a good Af-Am fiction book about adult romance and friendship, read any one of his other books. He's still a great writer - but this particular book is a bit more deviant than I anticipated.
