Summary: Something New
Review: This book took me by surprise. It wasnt a typical EJD book but then again it was....instead of dealing with the same old thing male/female relationship of the 90's, he dealt with the reality of 2000. just as E. Lynn Harris used Basil to talk about bi men, EJD uses NIcole to talk about the bi woman. while E.Lynns Basil isnt as open as Nicole....they are both fighting an inner battle. there are those in the African-American community that are still scared to deal with this issues (ie; Nicoles mother) and they fact that there are people living this life 27/7. dont knock EJD for writing this....show him love for takin the chance of doing something different.

Summary: Are there more stars?
Review: This book is hot..hot..hot!!!! EJD has written the hottest book on the market. It is erotica with a story. For those of you that think Addicted is off the hock, you need to read this novel. Oh, I've seen the other reviews with the one star or two stars because they didn't like the sexual content of this book. What can I say?..I LOVED IT!!! It is a love triangle with a twist and every man's fantasy played out. But as one former lover once told me..Some things are better left as a fantasy! More Nicole wanted her cake and everything that went with it. But oftentimes in life you have to make up your mind one way or the other. There really is no in between. Everyone with a sense of adventure and a senuous nature needs to read this. Go Mr. Dickey..you really did it this time! Heck..I may even want to take a trip to Paris myself!!!!

Summary: Interesting, Deep...
Review: I have read ALL of EJD books, and enjoyed them all. I have rated all of his books between 4 to 5 stars, however, after reading this book, all I can say is hmmmmmmmm.....

Summary: A Compelling Contemporary Fiction
Review: Accolades and Compliments. Never have I been compelled to inscribe a guest book or express my appreciation for someone's art. This book, any of EJD's books, will make your emotions soar! This is contemporary fiction at its finest (in more than one sense of the word). You won't be able to put the book down. From each word to each page dripping with prose so captivating - cover to cover a breathtaking journey into a world so real. Kudos to EJD (keep writing). I can't wait for the next escapade.

Summary: What Happened to the EJD I Knew???
Review: I am a huge fan of Eric Jerome Dickey, so I rushed to the store and bought this book the first day it came out. I was extremely disappointed with the book. The book is out of character for EJD. Dickey is a talented writer and I believe he was trying to display his diversity as an author with this book; unfortunately the book is a flop. The book felt like a rushed product. It lacked character development and the plot went nowhere. The story is told first person by a narrator who is never given a name. This makes the book an extremely difficult read because at times you are unable to determine who is speaking. I oftentimes had to back up several times to determine who was speaking.

Another concern I had with the novel is that I felt it was unrealistic. The three characters are caught in a love triangle. Nicole is in love with both the narrator and her lover Ayanna. They are both determined to have her for themselves, thus they submit themselves to acts neither one of them is comfortable performing. Dickey himself makes the clearest point to contradict the character's silly actions. At one point in the book it is stated that if the love triangle were between a woman and two men the man surly would not accept this type of behavior and allow his woman to see another man. Why should we believe then that the situation should be any different because the narrator's woman is in love with another woman?

I was not drawn to any of the characters. As a reader I never developed a sense of empathy or connection with any of them. Although I did feel bad for Nicole because of her struggle with her sexuality, that empathy was diminished because she was extremely selfish. No woman can have two people, regardless of whether it is two men or a man and a woman. This is just a selfish expectation. Nicole did not think of how her actions affected the lives of those she loved. She was a selfish lover.

This was a very disappointing novel from and extremely talented author. EJD should stick with what he does best.

Summary: Writing is Amazing!!!
Review: i have read all of ejd's books and liked them all, but there is something amazing about the writing in this one! i felt like i was stuck in that space of love and lust and desire and confusion and hurt and anger right along with the characters!!

Summary: The end is the best part
Review: I have voraciously read all of Mr. Dickey's work and was so eager to buy and read this one. I have to say that the majority of the book is a freak show!!! EJD was very descriptive about alternative lifestyles but I found the characters very disturbing. Nicole was a very selfish, self-centered person who could dish it out but not take it. I guess that you could say that Ayanna was a counter-balance for the unnamed main character, but I also found her to be very sinister and bitter. The main character was such a wimp throughout much of the book; I'm glad that he found his strength in the end. I wonder if this main character is somewhat autobiographical??

Summary: Sooooooo Disappointed!
Review: I have read all of Eric Jerome Dickey's books and a couple of them, I have re-read twice. So when I saw that he had a new novel out, I rushed to get it. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. This book is horrible! I can understand the message he might be trying to convey, however, the language and descriptions are too graphic and unnecessary. This novel reads like one of those trashy novels that I would never bend the cover on, and I wish that I had not paid full price for a hardcover edition of this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Reading!
Review: I'm seriously not much of a book reader. A story has to really catch me within the first chapter to ensure that I finish it. I finished this book after one day. The story is truly amazing, intense, passionate, and so much more. However, it is not for close-minded people who have problems with sex and/or alternative lifestyles. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading his next book.

Summary: BY GEORGE, YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN!!
Review: I am totally speechless. I LOVED this book. It is truly a fast-paced page turner. I had the opportunity to meet Eric Jerome Dickey on 6/30/01 at Carl Weber's (Lookin' for Luv and Married Men) African-American Bookstore in Jamaica, Queens. Eric is a truly beautiful down-to-earth warm person who displays lots of love. In signing my book, he wrote "I hope you enjoy each page" and I replied "I shall". I enjoyed the book tremendously!! All that I can say is you MUST READ THIS BOOK!! After completion of the book, it left me feeling in awe -- I wanted more. It is very difficult to pick up another book after this one because it has to either balance out or out shine this one. That is a tough one.

May God continue to bless you and please, please continue to give voice to your dreams. You totally took me by surpise with this one. 2 thumbs up and all of that. This is truly a 5 star PLUS book. I felt the pain, love and struggle from all of the characters. It gives meaning to my saying of "LET NO ONE STEAL YOUR DREAMS" -- not even yourself. In my heart of hearts, I would have loved for a different ending. But hey, love is like a record, so play on. One Love.
