Rating: Summary: This recording is wonderful! Review: For anyone who chooses the New International Version as their Bible will absolutely love this recording. It is lovingly narrated and precisely word-for-word. I recommend it to anyone who wants to hear the clearest and best recording. It is well worth the price and I love to share it with friends. It's funny how few people realize that there is a recorded Bible out there. Thank you Stephen Johnston.
Rating: Summary: Holy and Timeless Review: I got these tapes for my 16th birthday. Since then, I have listened to them over and over, nine times in all. That doesn't matter. Mr Johnston's voice is good and well and shows why the bible is holy. I would recomend people to buy them and cherish them for their holiness.
Rating: Summary: Great Version of the Bible Review: I have become addicted to listening to the Bible and the New King James is beautiful! Stephen Johnston is my favorite narrator. Thanks for getting the NKJV on tape...what about CDs?

Rating: Summary: There are better productions... Review: I must be the only dissenting voice anywhere regarding the production of this audio version of scripture. I don't dispute that Mr. Johnston has a beautiful voice. However, I find that the production of this recording is very poor. It is narrated too fast, with hardly a breath between verses, chapters and books. I doubt this is how Mr. Johnston actually read it, but rather an editing room issue. A previous reviewer eluded to some editing splices where errors were corrected with voice overs. The number and quality of voice overs is distracting. Some of the voice overs are obviously not even Mr. Johnston. Additionally, the background music, in my opinion is obtrusive. At points, the music is distracting. In the early part of the book of Psalms for example, the music shifts from quiet and serene, to climactic concert pieces. I found myself almost paying attention more to the music, trying to guess the piece. All in all, I would not recommend this version.
Rating: Summary: Make good use of your time Review: I really have enjoyed the Audio Bible. It enables me to listen to The Word while driving in my car. I'm exploring areas of the bible that I haven't been able to get at with all the time commitments in my life, especially in the Old Testament. I enjoy this version (NIV) and the reader, Stephen Johnson has a voice that allows for good listening. The background music is nice and not overbearing. My only criticism is where the editors fixed what I assume are reading mistakes with voice-overs that don't quite match the volume and cadence and interrupts the music in the background. This calls attention to the change and draws attention from The Word. It would have been better if they opted for a re-read of the entire chapter (track) rather than fix things as they chose. Even with this minor glitch in the production, I am very pleased with my purchase. I welcome the availability of the CD version. The CD's come in a binder-like folder with the typical see through plastic holders for the CD's . This makes it easy to browse through the CD's as the Book/Chapter name that comprise the tracks are printed on the CD. For example, was easy for my son to find and borrow the CD that contained the book of Job to listen before a bible study class. I am sure this purchase will enhance your understanding of the bible. There is something about both listening to the spoken word and having it heard in the context of the verses before and after that enhance your knowledge of the scriptures. Enjoy and grow in faith ... Rating: Summary: Mr. Johnston is fabulous. Powerful voice, easy listening Review: I spend 2 hours driving to and from work each day. Listening to this dramatized Bible puts me in a remarkably serene mood. The Word comes alive and it's like listening to live theater. I'm so glad I have this Bible. Thank you Stephen Johnston.
Rating: Summary: To hear the Bible so richly read...It's so understandable! Review: I would recommend that anyone who ever wanted to "read" the whole Bible will get more than they bargained for. The narrator's reading brings the word literally to life.
