Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful book. Review: I recently read this book because my sister recomended it. It started out somewhat slowly, but then the pace picked up and I couldn't put it down. It tells about a group of friends who experience first love and betrayal. No person who reads this book will be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Wonderful! Review: This is, altogether, one of the best books that I have ever read! Her characters are written about so vividly and are ones that have features that anyone can relate to (e.g. Eve's temper, Benny's warm disposition, Aidan's quirkiness, Mother Francis' kind soul). If you ever have a chance to read this wonderful novel, don't pass it up. When you read the pages, you certainly feel like you belong to a loving circle of friends.
Rating: Summary: This book was really good! Review: I'm only 11 years old and I read this book. It was so good. After I finished it, I went to the video store and rented the movie, Circle of Friends. That was so good too. I really coudn't put the book down. I do recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Simply Magic Review: Circle of Friends, by Maeve Binchy, read by Kate Binchy. Magic story of friendship and coming of age, magically read by the lovely lilting Irish tones of Kate Binchy. This writer/reader pairing is the best I've ever come across, and though 12 tapes sounds like a lot, I wasn't ready for the tale to end. So glad to note in scanning the reviews that teachers are assigning this story -- though it is thought provoking for readers of all ages. Auntie Maeve paints even the unkindest characters with even handed brushstrokes, and puts the importance of things in perspective, while projecting joy and hope in a reasonable, reflective and realistic manner. Now I'm headed to the video store to watch the movie!
Rating: Summary: Seen the movie? READ THE BOOK! Review: I enjoyed the movie version of Maeve Binchy's Circle of Friends so when I saw the book at the bookstore, I thought maybe I would enjoy reading it too. GOOD IDEA! Once again, the written word has won out! The story is beautifully written and the characters become part of "your circle of friends" as you become involved in their lives. I would encourage women of all ages to pick up this wonderful story...they will not regret it and may add a "new favorite" author to their bookshelf.
Rating: Summary: Circle of friends Review: I have never identified with a character as much as I do with Benny. When I finished the book I went right back to page one and began again! After you read the book you will not be able to look at the movie in the same light. The characters seem so much more real, you honestly care what happens to them, and even pity characters like Nan, Jack, and Rosemary. Knockglen becomes almost a home to you as you read. This is a wonderful book full of humor and honesty about the relationships we all have with family and friends.
Rating: Summary: Exceptional book Review: The first book I read by Maeve Binchy was Tara Road. I enjoyed the development of characters and writing style so much that I ordered Circle of Friends. This book was even better than Tara Road. I could not put it down. Maeve Binchy has a wonderful way of making the reader feel as if the characters are real. It was an exceptional book.
Rating: Summary: Non-Stop Intrigue Review: It was a wonderful book that I just couldn't put down, it shocked me, made me cry, made me run through all of the emotions. It was wonderful!
Rating: Summary: My New Favorite Book Review: "Circle Of Friends" is a masterpiece! I absolutely loved every page of it... EXCELLENT!I could relate to it so well, and i cant wait to start my next Binchy.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL AND INTRIGUING! Review: I read my first Maeve Binchy book, "Tara Road" recently as my first book by this author and loved it so much, I decided to try this one. This book was absolutely wonderful! The characters are so full of life, and the way she describes everything makes you feel like you are there yourself. I read it every free second I had, and even though I saw the movie first, the book was well worth my reading time. I would highly recommend this book to young women in their 20's, it's a great book about college life in the 60's in Dublin.
