Rating: Summary: Awesome!!!! Review: Binchy has created a wonderful story about friends and what they will do for each other in times of turmoil, and growth. Benny Hogan was ten when she first encountered Eve. She was forced to invite her to a birthday party, that would turn out to be the start of a strong friendship. They were two peas in a pod growing up in Ireland in the fifties. Then came college...After years of staying in the same town...the place they knew, Eve and Benny venture to the University in Dublin. It is there that their circle of friends expanded, and they began to grow up. Read this story about life, love, and the power of friendship...
Rating: Summary: I Loved it!! Review: Maeve Binchy is one of my favorite writers and Circle of Friends is my favorite of her books. It is a wonderful book, and if you haven't read it yet, I suggest you do. It was also made into a movie with Chris O'donnel and Minnie Driver and it is also really good.
Rating: Summary: A heart warming tale of university, friends and life!! Review: This book was a page turner, start to finish. I was a little hesitant when my sister thrust it into my hand, but the story took me away to small town Ireland, and before I knew it, I had gone through heartbreak, experience, and growing up with main character Benny and her friends. Benny, a chubby warm and friendly girl is so real that you sympathize with and understand her perfectly. The book follows her life, from elementary school down the road, to university in Dublin. Binchy develops the characters extremely well, to the point where you feel a part of the string of young people who go to dances and classes. The romance aspect of the book is wonderful: It`s the idea of the ugly duckling (Benny) who`s noticed by the handsome prince charming (Jack) and is carried away by his true love for her. But there is a bittersweet edge to the romance, and it illustrates perfectly how we all learn from our mistakes, whether they be in love or friendship. As you can prob! ably tell, I adored this book- and highly recommend it to anyone, young and old. Reading it after my first year of university made me realize the meaning behind having a "circle of friends" and all that goes along with it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!
Rating: Summary: Benny and Eve are AMAZING!!! Review: I think Maeve Binchy is one of the most talented writers today. Benny and Eve are two of the greatest characters whose stories have been told. In so many ways I feel like I can sympathize or relate to what they encounter and have to deal with while growing up and on their own. It's even better to read about such a strong friendship and bond between the two. It is truly a story about friendship, love, life, and basically real emotion. This book is amazing!!
Rating: Summary: I just LOVE the book Review: The book is really good. Even the title is catchy. Benny is a character cleverly portrayed by Miss Binchy. So is Eve Malone, who is Benny's best friend. All I can say for those who hadn't read the book and is hungry for a good reading material, please, read this one. You'll love it.
Rating: Summary: This is the best book I've ever read Review: I've never read a book over 280 pages, but in just a few days I'd already read almost 300 pages of this book. I can't believe how I just turned pages and read for hours at a time without even realizing it. This has to be the best book I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: Really enjoyed Bennie! Review: I enjoyed this book a lot, even after seeing the movie, which was also done well. I couldn't put the book down, even though at times it seemed like I'd never be finished with it. A bit long. I really enjoy the way Binchy develops her characters. Definitely will recommend.
Rating: Summary: Any college girl should read Review: This is one of the few books that you can't put down and you wish would never end. Circle of Friends was, fittingly, the last I read before I started college. The characters were so real and the story so beautiful that I expected to find Jack, Eve, and Benny here. Even though I didn't, I'm glad I got to meet them in fiction.
Rating: Summary: Another success of Maeve Binchy!!!!!!!! Review: First off, I would just like to say, Maeve Binchy is apart of the few known authors who write quality stories, without the violence and stupidness of our modern authors. I would like to thank her for that! I can't begin to tell you all how much I loved this book. It made me get so involved and care for the characters as if I knew them personally!! It's not only this book I love of Maeve Binchy's. I also recommend "Echoes", another one of my favourites. I think I speak for other supporters of Maeve Binchy, when I say "please write a sequel!!!" (to any of her books!!). Thank you very much! A loyal fan
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: This is one of my favorite books! I've read it several times & I really related to Benny because I am an overweight woman who's married to a very attractive man (fortunately my husband doesn't have Jack's character faults!). The movie did not do this book justice, especially in leaving out Eve's relationship with Mother Francis & the wonderful Fonsie & Clodagh.
