Rating: Summary: A Christmas Story as Good as Silent Night Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Alvirah and Willy make a great team, and since I am Catholic, I enjoy anything when somebody is trying to help the Catholic church. I was so angry when the theft was committed! No one should steal anything sacred from a church! This book is best read at Christmas time. I know that next Christmas, I am very likely to read them again!

Rating: Summary: The Queen of suspense is back. Thank you Mary ! Review: I was very disppointed by Mrs.Higgins Clark's latest novels (Moonlight becomes you, You belong to me), for exemple, were ugly surprised when I read them. How could the queen of suspense be so boring ? How could I with absolute certainty know the murderer's name after a few chapters ? No, definitely, this wasn't the talent I was so addicted to, this novels couldn't be hers. This is maybe the novelist speaking, since I also write crime novels in French. So I hesitated, entering my favorite swiss library, to buy "All through the night". First of all : THIS BOOK IS WONNDERFUL, keeping your eyes up until the final page. Thank you, Mrs. Higgins Clark, to call back again Alvirah and Willy, thank you for having built a real plot, thank you for the tear I felt rolling down my face while the violonist was playing for... (No, no, no, I won't tell it here !) This is a marvelous novel, beautifully written, with a great gift for construction. This is what I call a real Christmas gift, for no one in the world, Madam, and I'd prefer to say, as in french, ma GRANDE DAME, is actually able to tell a such fascinating, suspenseful and and moving tale. Christmas time is pretty good for wishes : I only hope, Mrs. Higgins Clark, that I'll enjoy your next novel as I did with this one and with so many others, particularly "A cry in the night", "ALL AROUND THE TOWN" - an absolute masterwork, or "Remember me". I wish you a very pleasant Christmas time with your new family. Once again, thank you.
Rating: Summary: Queen of Suspense???? Review: I'm sure that Mary Higgins Clark no longer needs the money, but she could at least give her fans an unpredictable novel that doesn't insult our intelligence. I suspected how this book would end from page 1, but read the whole thing anyway in hopes that I might be surprised in some way. Not only was I disappointed, but I came away angry at the oversimplified plot, at the Meehans for being the most annoying crime solving couple in literary history, and at the idea that a woman who abandons her baby outdoors in the dead of winter has a right to come back and lay claim to that child seven years later. I expected better from this author and it'll be a long time before I read anything by her again.
Rating: Summary: A Feel Good Story Review: If you are looking for guts, gore and grit, look elsewhere. This is a mystery without a dead body. It pulls at the heart strings, and brings back my favourite Clark characters, Willy and Alvirah, who I can't get enough of. This is one of the fastest reads I have experienced, but it was heart-warming and perfect for the holiday season
Rating: Summary: A great holiday mystery, uplifting but not saccharine Review: If you have a couple of hours and want to devour a light, quick, and pleasant holiday book, ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT is the one for you. This is not the usual Mary Higgins Clark book. It's also not for die-hard mystery lovers.I loved the way this book was centered, for the most part around lively, lovable senior citizens, showing their activities, alertness, and concerns. Several subplots (robbery, abandonment, child care, con artists, sleuthing) come together to form a wonderful Christmas story (to be read and enjoyed any time of the year). This book left me with "feel-good" vibrations. If I had one complaint, it would be that the book was too short.

Rating: Summary: English Project Review: In my opinion I thought that All Through the Night was a good book. At the beginning i thought it went kind of slow. Then it got a little more interesting. If i wasn't as old as i am i might have gotten kind of confused. I mean the author kind of confused me when she did one group of characters in one chapter and a whole different character in another. I basically thought that it just jumped around a little too much for my taste. They didn't start to tie into one anotheruntil the end of the book. Then that's when i figured it all out and pasted all of the pieces together. Overall Mary Higgins Clark is a very good author. She keeps you interested until the very end and no matter who you think is the main person involved it is always someone else.
Rating: Summary: A beutiful(yes beautiful)Christmas mystery Review: It is a month before Christmas, but not everyone in the Big Apple is as happy as Willy and Alvirah Meehan, winners of a forty million-dollar lottery drawing a few years ago. The former plumber and ex-cleaning lady are disturbed when the tenants of their dead friend Bessie claim that their former landlord made out a will leaving them the brownstone. As far as everyone is concerned, the house was supposed to be left to Bessie's sister, who intended to turn ownership over to the Home Safe Program, run by Willy's sibling, Sister Cordelia. Alvirah believes that there is something phony about the tenants and the new will. She intends to do some snooping to prove it. Alvirah also takes on another case, locating Sondra's daughter who she abandoned seven years ago in the doorway of the church rectory(Alvirah and Willy are a part of the congregation). She had expected the Monsignor to find the baby a home, but instead a thief abducted the child as a cover when he tripped the church alarm. The felon escaped and gave the girl to his aunt to raise. Mary Higgins Clark is a recognized talent, who deserves all the accolades that comes her way. ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT is a beautiful Christmas tale that demonstrates miracles can occur while maintaining the author's trademark level of suspense. Fans of Ms. Clark, mystery lovers and anyone believing in the holiday spirit will enjoy this novel immensely. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: A 'Reader's Digest' Sort of Tale Review: It seems as if M. H. Clark was 'made' to write a tale for Christmas by her editors. Her lack of enthusiasm is quite apparent by the lack of depth and intellect in this read. This book may appeal to the beginning reader, but it is very disappointing for others. Too simple, too predictable, too ho-hum, and does not grab the heart as I would have expected from Mary.
