Rating: Summary: Memoirs of an Invisible Man ---- with a twist Review: This book was hard to put down. It is an interesting mix of M. Bulgakov, "Tales from the Crypt", Memoirs of an Invisible Man, and a Victorian novel. Read it for Halloween; you will never smell the same.
Rating: Summary: Agradable y triste, fria e intensa. Review: La historia de un ser unico. Como nunca alguien existira sobre la tierra. Una historia tan triste y tragica y tan llena de detalles y magica como solo la Francia de hace dos siglos podria ser.
Rating: Summary: Rediscovering a world of senses. Review: Patrick Suskind tells the story of Jean Baptiste Grenouille through a clear description of different odors and fragrances and the secret power to all perfumes. Sensual and thrilling in the portrayal of the different aspects of human spirit.
Rating: Summary: TOTALLY AWSOME Review: wow what to say about this book, as an avid lover of perfume with a fridge stocked full of it, a perfume for every occasion, this book did it for me. It was shocking , terrifying but im sure so true of France at the time. How else are great perfumes born, it this doesnt tell us how , what could... Read it quickly , its a pick up not put down book , full of emotion and sadness tinged with happiness. A good read and i would reccomend it highly!!!
Rating: Summary: Perfume: A Story I'll Never Forget Review: I read this book when I was 15, almost ten years ago. Probably re-read it 5 times just so I could escape into Grenouille's bizarre 18th century world. I lost the book in 1993 (lent it to an ex, never again!) and have been pining for it ever since. Thanks Amazon Books, I probably wouldn't find my favorite storybook without you!
Rating: Summary: Really horrifying!! Review: What can I say? I've read so many comments on this book - and what do I feel about it? I read Perfume before I read the latest novels by Süskind (Pigeon, The story about Mr.Sommer). And after reading these novels, Perfume in some way changed. Süskind is a strange writer - and a genious. Perfume is a horrifying book - quite simply horrifying. It's like nothing else I've read. I just FELT the book. Can't say anything else. Really. If you haven't read it yet: Please do. You'll love it - ore hate it.
Rating: Summary: Incredible! You will read, see, feel and smell every scene. Review: The reviews I have read would indicate that this is a book about the sense of smell, and specifically the smell of perfume. This is somewhat true, but at its heart, a traditional story about good v. evil, beauty v. ugliness, etc. What is unique is the sense of smell as a point of view or even the narrator. Very original! This is one of the most "poetic" or "lyrical" books I have ever read. It makes you feel, smell and visualize every scene. All this beauty in a book about a sad and evil man. Fascinating!!
Rating: Summary: Eccentric Review: This book is quite unique in the character and the plot. I must say it was quite interesting to read about all the labor that goes into a perfume. The details are incredible. The book begun well, but then towards the end, the author lost me. It seems like he was throwing anything "mad" and "different" in the end to make Grenouille "the moster" he is supposed to be. This author has a promising future, but he needs to make sure the stories stay in que.
Rating: Summary: A Euphoric Masterpiece! Review: One of the best books I have ever read!! You feel for the main character, you are intrigued by him. I now know how much smells can really reveal a lot about a person!
Rating: Summary: Murder written by a philosopher Review: Thanks to PATRICK Süskind, a german philosopher, I had the oportunity to read a different thriller, unique in its genre: a perfume maker in Paris XVIII century turns out to be an obsessive killer looking for the ultimate fragrance. HIGHLY recommendable!!!.
