Summary: Superb!!
Review: This is one of the best thrillers I've read all year. The pace is awesome and the story very compelling and tense. I couldn't put it down becaue I just couldn't wait to see how it ended. Very, very good read. Ms Gardner has a definite winner here. All the characters hold your interest, especially the rape victims and Detective Griffin. I'd love to read another novel featuring him. I highly recommend this novel. Be prepared to not be able to put it down.

Summary: WOW!!
Review: This is the best Lisa Gardner book I have read yet. She is a great author and I could not put this book down. I adored Griffin, the cop in charge of the investigation. I hope she brings him back in another book one day!! The story itself was intricate and well written. Everything was explained neatly in the end and nothing was left hanging. I like that. The suspense was mighty and the romance kept to a minimum. I like that, too. But best of all this story was poignant and I was in tears much of the time. With the death of Griffin's wife, Carol's messed up marriage, Meg's messed up family, and the effect the rapes had on these victims, this was a very meaningful and sensitive book. I thought Ms. Gardner portrayed these emotions brilliantly. It is a deep, and sometimes raw read that leaves you feeling very sympathetic to a rape victim. This is one of the best books I have ever read and it ranks up there with a Joy Fielding novel. It has all the elements I enjoy in a story and I highly recommend it!

Summary: Killer thriller novel gets better by the page...
Review: This was my first Gardner book, but it won't be my last. The villain is brilliant and oh-so-sick; the heroes are brave, troubled, and worth rooting for. The plot twists are unpredictable and clever. As a man, I found the depictions of three rape survivors to be educational as well as moving. The Rhode Island setting is not something you can find routinely in suspense novels, either. This tale presents us with about 18 characters, good, bad, and inbetween, who come off as people with depth. That's not easy to do in a 300-page formula suspense tale. It would make a nice four-hour television mini-series, if those were being churned out anymore. To shorten it to two hours or less might do the book a disservice. It is a Lifetime Cable kind of story, since women battling obstacles is the core of the book, but the chief male character needs his screen time, too, and deserves it. If you like crime novels in general, don't skip this one...it is one of the best in recent years.

Summary: Very good!
Review: This was one scary book! Lots going on and you have to pay attention. Once you get into this book, you will not be able to put it down. Very big on procedural, very little on romance. Dont read it late at night! You wont be able to get to sleep!

Summary: Hard to put down!
Review: This was only the second of Lisa Gardner's books that I have read, and I will definintely be looking for more. I read into the wee hours of the night. It was simply terrific!

Summary: Minority Report
Review: Well, after reading the reviews of this book, I am definitely in the minority.... I once read that if you put a group of monkeys in a room banging on typewriters, eventually they would come up with a novel. This must be that novel. I found it contrived, too pat, illogical and unbelieveable. Not to mention boring and uninteresting. It read like a grown-up Bobsey Twins novel. Amateurish. What amazes me is that something like this can actually get published! I would think Ms. Gardner's publisher had higher standards than this. Maybe I should submit a book to them! Do yourself a favor and save your time, money and efforts for a more worthy and entertaining read.

Summary: Fantastic!!!!!
Review: What a great thriller!! This one was cleverly plotted and beautifully written. After reading The Next Acccident, I thought Lisa Gardner was good-- but after this one there is no doubt--she's AWESOME!! Realistic dialogue, creepy villians, and heroes/heroines that have just enough flaws to be absolutely perfect!!

Summary: Lisa Gardner does another great job
Review: What an exciting book. Just when you think you've got it figured out, here comes a twist! She does a great job with the violence without making it too graphic. I had a hard time putting it down until I thought something bad was going to happen to a little girl (near the end). Read the book to find out if I was correct.

Summary: Absolutely gripping!
Review: When I picked up this book, I should have known better. I have never been able to read Lisa Gardner's books without putting it down ~~ and this book is no exception!

The book centers around a state detective hot on the trail of a double murder. Griffin had just returned to work after a bereavement leave ~~ he had just lost his wife to cancer ~~ only on the day he arrives to work, an accused serial rapist, who was on his way to court for the first day of trial, was shot to death by a sniper. Then a few blocks away, the sniper was blown up as he entered his car. The suspicions soon focused on the three "survivors" ~~ three women who were raped by the accused serial rapist, Eddie. And that was just the first chapter.

This book will be hard to put down ~~ Gardner strings you along with tempting bits every chapter ~~ and no matter what you do, you can't resist it. She delves into the psychological aspects of the rape victims as well into Griffin's mindset as he tracks down the mystery of the rapists and murders. You find yourself relating to the darker sides of the story and you really shouldn't read this alone at night ~~ it will spook you! She delivers this book with a fast-paced, page-turner story ~~ and I highly recommend this book for everyone's summer reading. It's fabalous and she's also a great writer to boost. You can't beat this one!

Summary: Get Ready to be Entertained!
Review: When I read, I read strictly for entertainment. I want to be drawn into the plot and entertained by the characters. Lisa Gardner didn't draw me into the plot of The Survivors Club-she yanked me into it head first! From page one to the end, the suspense never lets up. I didn't think Ms. Gardner could top her last book, boy was I wrong.

The story opens with two men trying to plot the perfect brutal assault crimes without getting caught. They discuss theories and discard methods that haven't worked. Let me tell you it's unnerving to read something discussed so casually. Cut to the courthouse where a man is set to go on trial for brutally assaulting and raping three women and one who didn't survive the nightmare. Up on the rooftop lies an assassin waiting for the perfect shot to take the man out. The moment arrives, he fires, escapes to his awaiting car only blocks away. He starts the engine, boom-his car explodes. Meanwhile back on the job for his first day after an eighteen-month medical leave is a state policeman. He had witnessed the agonizing death of his wife while taking down the man known as the "Candy Man", a pedophile who killed ten small children and just happened to be the his next door neighbor. Thrown into the mix is three women who form the Survivors Club to deal with the trauma they have each went through. Three women, who come from different walks in life, with nothing in common other than they have survived every woman's worst nightmare. This is pretty intense stuff especially when you consider it's just the first three chapters of the book. But hey, Ms. Gardner doesn't let up there, chapter after chapter throws new curves that keeps this story as fresh and compelling as the first three chapters.

This book was mesmerizing. I'm sure there will be those out there who will criticize the fact that there was no romance in the book, or those who will think Ms. Gardner strayed into the unbelievable area on DNA and police procedures. But for someone who reads strictly for entertainment, this book has it all. Grab a copy and settle down for a fascinating journey with The Survivors Club. You won't be sorry.
