Rating: Summary: Always Exciting, Often Poignant, Never Boring Review: After reading The Next Accident, I was eagerly awaiting the newest release from Lisa Gardner. I'm happy to say that I was not disappointed in the least. This is a fine book for many reasons. The plot races along and takes the reader through many mindbending twists and turns. Gardner has the ability to leave readers shaking their heads and times while keeping the story plausible and believable. The ending has all the marks of a great thriller and will please both her fans and new readers of her work. While the plot of the novel is excellent, the aspect of this book that sets it above most run-of-the-mill novels of this genre is the strong characters that Gardner uses. Griffin is one of the best cop characters that I can remember reading about is some time, while Fitz plays his foil to perfection. The three women members of the Survivors Club are also well developed, especially the younger Meg. Surprisingly, Jillian's mother, a stroke victim who has lost her ability to speak and communicates by tapping, is one of the most gripping characters in the book. This is a fine novel that readers will not forget. It is violent at times, sad at others, while remaining interesting always. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: The Best Club Review: Amazing! A very good book from the beginning to the very end. You'll not find a way to put it down. You'll not loose the interest until the last page. I strongly recommend this book for those who like a good reading and a very good suspense.
Rating: Summary: An twisted tale that will have you hooked from the beginning Review: Carol Rosen and Meg Pesaturo were both raped by the College Hill Rapist. Jillian Hayes wasn't raped, but her younger sister Trsiha died while being raped by the College Hill Rapist. Three women drawn together by one man form the Survivors Club - a support group and activist group all in one. Together they are strong and united with Jillian as their leader and spokeswomen - but things are about to change. Eddie Como was the man that was caught and charged with the crime and there was perfect DNA evidence to prove it. The first day of his trial a snipers bullet kills him - and hen the sniper dies too. Starting his first day back on the job after 18 months, Detective Roan Griffin was not expecting to find himself involved in one of the biggest cases of the year. But something is not right, there is a puppet master pulling the strings of this case and they have to figure out what is happeing - especially when the College Hill Rapist attacks another woman after his death. This book was amazing, and the ending was one that was not expected. The characters are well written and the suspense is agonising, especially as you think you work out the story at least a half dozen times before the end of the story. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to get my hands on other books by this author. If you did like this book then try reading Tess Gerritsen who has the smae amazing ability to drag you into the story, churn you around in the story, and then spit you out at the end feeling as though you have been on a rollercoaster ride.

Rating: Summary: What more can be said? Review: Everyone has said the same words over and over - this book was fantastic! I read it in a day and a half and found myself spooked while reading it. I don't know how she will be able to top this. I would definitely recommend this book, but keep lights on and doors locked.
Rating: Summary: SURPRISES AND SUSPENSE ABOUND! Review: Few can create authentic, fully realized female characters as capably as Carol Kaplan. With "The Survivors Club" the women are not only living and breathing, but they're breathing fire. Jill Hayes, Carol Rosen and Meg Pesaturo share a common bond: they've all suffered at the hands of the same rapist. They make up the Survivors Club; a trio fiercely determined that what happened to them will not happen to another woman. To that end they have been instrumental in the apprehension of Eddie Como, the College Hill rapist. Readers are stunned when Como is shot, murdered in broad daylight outside a packed courtroom shortly before his trial is to commence. A double whammy is in store when his killer, a professional gunman is slain a short distance from the shooting. These killings are the puzzle facing Detective Sergeant Roan Griffin. The obvious answer lies with the three women. But, could these women or one of them be capable of plotting such a scenario? Even more bizarre, could the trauma of her rape turn a peaceful, law abiding woman into a killer. As Griffin probes for answers he comes face to face with beautiful Jillian; she is successful and apparently in control. Nonetheless she harbors the pain of the unspeakable. Leave it to Lisa Gardner to provide another twist to her tale with the brutal attack of one more woman. There is still a sick someone on the loose who seems bent on making sure there are no survivors. Another surprise filled, suspenseful yarn from the gifted Ms. Gardner...
Rating: Summary: How can a dead man commit a crime? Review: How can a dead man, who had been assassinated early in the morning in clear view of the public while being delivered to a courthouse for trial, leave bodily fluids at a crime scene later that night? The closure that the prosecutors, the policemen, and the three victims of this serial rapist sought and needed was now cruelly denied and the public was nearly in a panic. Perhaps it was understandable for anyone so brutally attacked to plot revenge against her perpetrator. But now had the three victims, who had formed the Survivors Club, railroaded an innocent man, and, worse yet, had him killed? State police detective Roan Griffin feels echoes from his past in this bizarre case. It seems just a bit too convenient for this to be happening on his first day back on the job after being away for a year and a half to recuperate from a breakdown suffered in the pursuit of a murderous pedophile.
The book is really well constructed. The plot moves quickly with any number of interrelated developments that are high in plausibility yet surprising. The lives of the main characters, the three victims and Sergeant Griffin, leading up to this point, are well explained and integrated into the plot. The book is well worthwhile for those interested in well-written mysteries.
Rating: Summary: NOT UP TO HER USUAL STANDARDS. Review: I have read all of Lisa Gardner's books up to this point and have seen her consistently improve with each subsequent book. I was, however, left with a sense of disappointment after reading the Survivor's Club. I found myself putting it down frequently and not being tempted to pick it up again. The story itself was reasonably good, although the ending was anticlimactic. This was also the case in this author's first two books although she improved on this dramatically by book three. My real issue with this book is the graphic nature of one of the rape scenes. There were also the flashbacks of the survivors. If you, like me, have problems reading graphic rape, then this is not the book for you.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT READ Review: I just spent my Sunday engrossed in this book. I even took it with me while I walked the dog. It is a book you can not put down and it delivers from pg one to the end. It teaches about rape without being whiny and has a great ending without being sappy. Characters are well defined and you can relate to them and their frailities. A totally satisfying mystery.
Rating: Summary: We could all use Griffin on our side Review: I liked this book a lot. I especially liked Griffin, Fitz and Waters. The women were not especially interesting which is surprising because of the name of the book. But the three guys were very good characters that I kept wanting to know more about. I would recommend the book, but would wait for paperback. I just don't recommend too many books with hardcover prices. Griffin and Waters were great characters and could use a story of their own in the future.
