Summary: Great Book!
Review: I enjoyed this book. Although, I did not know that it was (sort of) book 4 in a series. Make sure you read "Ashes of Eden", "The Return", and "The Avenger" before reading this.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good book - A shame its not-canon
Review: "Spctre" is a very good book. Yes, its full of Shatner ego. Yes, its got a little too much Kirk in it than I'd like. But overall, its exciting, interesting, the storyline is very creative and original and its considerably consistent with Star Trek history (right down to the other books). The only problem is the one thing in which this book does not consist with Star Trek history... Kirk's supposed to be dead! Which makes the whole book non-canon and that's a real shame.

Summary: Another bone of contention for continuity fans.
Review: Did the editors happen to read "Dark Mirror" by Diane Duane before approving this book? "Dark Mirror" was much more consistent with the history and predictions concerning the alternate universe. This is another Shatner ego fest (does he really think real life women find him as irresistible as his fictional alter ego?)

Summary: another Shatner page-turner
Review: One of the most disapointing movies was Generations. The idea of bringing Kirk and Picard together had the potential to be the best Trek movie. Generations fell short.

Shatner to the rescue! His books, which take place after Generations are all wonderfull, and Spectre is no exception. This is how Picard and Kirk were meant to be together--and now, not only them, but other famous characters as well.

Any Trek fan will love this book, and not be able to put it down. If only they made Shatner's books into movies . . .

Summary: Great story, a little too dark at times though
Review: This has to be the darkest episode of the "Kirk's Return" trilogy that William Shatner has written. The people in the mirror universe are extememly savage and brutal. One part of the story occurs on the prison asteroid. Although it is never confirmed in the story, it is rumored that the broth the prisoners consume on that asteroid is made from the prisoners themselves. Has Shatner been renting "Soylent Green" from his local video store?

What they don't put on television or even in the motion pictures is certainly available in this book. Being that the mirror universe episode was always my favorite, this is a must read! There is one problem. If anyone read "Dark Mirror" by Diane Duane, it states Spock was executed for treason. However, in Shatner's story, he's alive and well. Why can't Pocket Books ever get the stories straight? I know "Dark Mirror" was written before DS9 aired the mirror universe episodes. I just wanted to point it out anyway.

Summary: What happened to the Kirk that we used to know?
Review: After reading the previous three books, I am finding that Shatner has a consistency to be untrue to the characters that the original series' actors had fought so hard to preserve in tough times. What happened to the I-don't-wan't-to-lose-another-man Hero of yesteryear? Now we find Kirk ready to crash two asteroids together killing millions of people if it means that he has a chance of saving his dear old Teilani. Another thing is his devotion to Teilani. It used to be in the original series that Kirk fell in love with the nearest babe, either coaxed some information from her and knocked her out, or he loved her for an hour than dumped her for next week's star. The characters have lame interaction with each other, and the book is a huge blastfest battle game that I quickly lost attention with. A medical impossibility-how could Kirk impregnate a half Romulan-Klingon babe, him being a human? I always assumed in situations like that, it had to be done through genetic alteration and carefull planning. I really Enjoyed Shatner's "The Return" but things seem to be going downhill since then. A good book for people who like games such as Doom, Quake, and Mortal Kombat.

Summary: This is One Good Book
Review: William Shatner, once agian, writes a good book. My only complaint is that you have to have read a few other books for all the pieces to fall together, however since I am something of a Star Trek Fan, I keep up. If you like a story with lots of action starring the best of Star Trek, this is a book you want to read.

Summary: Great book, one flaw?
Review: Okay I loved it! However I may have missed it somewhere, where and how did they get Neelix? You know what I mean if you read the book, I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it yet.

Summary: Excellent Book.
Review: This book is a follow-up to the mirror universe episodes. So, we should see change in the mirror universe in this book.
