Rating: Summary: One of Morrell's Best Review: The first David Morrell books that I read years ago absolutely enthralled me. "The Fraternity of the Stone" and "The Brotherhood of the Rose" blended action with logic (the reader knows the logic that the protagonist is using to make each move) and threw in touches of Western and Eastern spirituality. What a combination! Expecting the same quality of books, I recently read some of Morrell's newer books. Wow...was I disappointed! It seemed that Morrell had gone the way of Sidney Sheldon and some other talented writers. Producing quality books had given way to cranking out manuscripts as quickly as possible. "The Fifth Profession" represents some of Morrell's best writing. Most readers who enjoyed "The Fraternity of the Stone" and "The Brotherhood of the Rose" will love this one.
Rating: Summary: He Dunit again yall Review: The way Morrell went into depth about the Japanese was very amazing. He brought the Characters to life. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, well couch that is. I loved it. Keep up the good work.

Rating: Summary: The best from Morrell! Couldn't put it down!!! Review: There i was at Boracay (one of the top ten beaches in the whole world) with my friends, and instead of frollicking and swimming, i was sitting under a shade trying to finish this book as fast as i could. i couldn't put it down 'coz the suspense would have killed me
Rating: Summary: Yet another great book by Morrel Review: This book had me hooked from the start to the finish. The first day I got it I could not put it down. This book has one of the best plots in a book I have ever read. It has all the action of the other David Morrel books I've read. If you like a good confusing storyline and a lot of action this is a book for you.
Rating: Summary: Must read Review: This book is amazing! Thoroughly captivating from the get-go, if you like classic Morrell (like "Brotherhood of the Rose" and "Fraternity of the Stone") you have to read this. So many twists and turns to keep the reader interested, I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: A good book that does not maintain the reader's interest Review: This book starts out as being very exciting but soon winds up being less than stellar towards the end. Some historical aspects of Japan are well-researched and nicely tie into the plot. The character development is done well but in the end the main character of Savage fails to impress. What started out as a capable and well-trained protector turns out to be an emotional and confused protagonist. The explanation for that is also not very convincing and is actually downright outrageous. But of course it is just a novel. Readers will find some good entertainment value in this novel and will get a glimpse into Japanese history and culture which is actually the book's main selling point.
Rating: Summary: Loved It Review: This book was full of action and suspense. I just couldn't put it down. After reading it, I went back and reread my favorite parts. The author did an outstanding job of keeping my attention and wrote a great story. I recommend it to anyone who likes books with action and a strong plot.
Rating: Summary: Good Idea, horrible execution Review: This book was recommended to me by a co-worker who knows I love stories about psychological confusion and dreams as well as Japanese culture. I decided to give this book a go on the basis that I did like the movie "In The Name of the Rose" which Morrell also wrote (although I never read the book). About twenty pages into the book, I realized the lack of talent that Morrell possesses. The characters are one dimensional and the dialogue barely rivals that of a few action-loving thirteen-year-olds. The plot, however, is very interesting and has a lot of potential which is the only reason why I finished the book. I kept on imagining how good the book might have been if a talented writer was to have written it. If a talented screenwriter was to get a hold of this book, it may be a really good film as long as Morrell has no influence on it whatsoever. I give it two stars on the basis that there are some interesting facts on the Japanese - U.S. relationship and the story is a good idea. Other than that, I have nothing good to say about it and I will never read another Morrell book again.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Terrific! Review: This is far and away the best book David Morrell has written and one of the best books I have read. It would make a great movie. The characters are rich and the plot takes several, very clever twists that keep the suspense and mystery flowing at a good pace.
