Rating: Summary: Heartwarming and Wonderful Review: I absolutely loved this book. I bought a copy for my mother and my aunt because I could see our relationships in between these pages. I also loved it because I had just had a baby--and could relate to 40 year old angst over being pregnant. This book will make you feel blessed for the friendships in your life and urge you to remember to tell people how much they mean to you. Buy this book today.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: I am so grateful to Amazon for suggesting this book! I had just finished a book by one of my favorite authors and didn't have anything to read. I decided to trust Amazon's suggestion, which I had never done before. It has rained here for 3 solid days and I haven't been able to put this book down, day and night. I savored each page slowly and I just finished reading, much to my dismay. What an awesome book! I kept checking to see where the last page was because I did NOT want the stories to end. I would recommend this book to anyone because it is about life, love, family, and friendships, and I guarantee you will love it. I only hope Ms Macomber continues on with her saga of the 4 friends. I will certainly buy the next one without a doubt.
Rating: Summary: Friendship - that's what it's all about, after all. Review: I cannot say enough good things about this story. I was enraptured by the unique way that the storyteller began each chapter - what a way to tell a story. The writer is very gifted. I would love to see this in movie form. I would also like to recommend The Color of Revenge by Millicent Hart. You'll love it.
Rating: Summary: A lovely story Review: I enjoyed this book from the first page. The four women featured, all so different, were equally likable, but I confess my favorite story line was Claire's, with Karen a close runner-up. The book is beautifully crafted, the prose deceptively simple yet enormously effective, and most importantly, Macomber engages our emotions. We laugh, we cry, we agonize, and in the end we celebrate each victory as if it were our own. Bravo! This was a terrific hardcover debut.
Rating: Summary: Friendship Through Journaling Review: I first spotted this book in a grocery story and bought it, knowing very well that it wasn't in my budget. Rather than letting it sit there on my shelf, I decided to read it before the summer ended. I was very impressed with the author's style of writing. She based it on a group of women that she meets regularly. Each woman, different in age, profession, and character, met after the class ended to form their own group and share what they wrote and also cope with the problems that one person brought to the table. It's refreshing to read books about a group of women, despite what their lives are, help one another get through the obstacles that put them down. I chose this book because I belong to a similar group like theirs and in my group, we get together to write and share our stories. This book had nothing to do with male bashing, which seems to be the norm in women's fiction. Not to say that it's not an interesting read. But this book is at the top of my best books to read this year.
Rating: Summary: A great friends story Review: I had never read a Debbie MacOmber book before but this one was wonderful and I will go out and get more. A wonderful story about four friends at different places in their lives and hoe they support each other. I finished it in one day. Definately read this one.
Rating: Summary: Debbie At Her Best Review: I have never read a Debbie MacOmber book I did not like and this one is no expection. The four main characters are each at a different stage in life. For that reason they each bring to their friendship a different veiwpoint and insight to what is going on in each other's lives. I have friends of all ages and I get something different and special from each one. The four women meet once a week for breakfast after having met in a journal writing class. Over the course of a year they each face some hard truths about their lives and learn to make adjustments and that forgivness and understanding are the true keys to happiness. I read this book in about 24 hours. I could not put it down. I highly recommend it and will buy copies for the friends who have brought so much to my life just by being in it.
Rating: Summary: Good to the last drop! Review: I loved this book! It reinforced my conviction that our women friends are an essential part of our lives, no matter what age we are. Each character was a well-defined individual. Their problems were ones that so many of us have dealt with at various stages of our lives. All the women had some facet that I could identify with. I admired them for helping each other find the strength and courage to deal with their various situations. Friendship at it's best! Don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story of the meaning of friendship! Review: I picked this book up on a whim, and I gobbled it. Finishing this book left me disappointed - I wanted more!! The way the book ends, however, leaves room for a sequel and I hope Ms. Macomber considers it. I liked the style this book was written in. The story is about the lives of four friends and each chapter is dedicated to one of the four friends. Most chapters open with entries in their journals and then continues with their story. By about 3/4 of the way through the book, each friend's story is intertwined with that of at least one of the other three friends. I understand Ms. Macomber has been writing Romance Novels for some time (this was the first of her books I've read), but this book is so much more than a Romance. I really liked this book and hope there are more like it to come.
Rating: Summary: Unable to stop reading Review: I thought this book was great. It kept you so interested from beginning to end & you didn't want to put it down.
