Rating: Summary: Touching story of love Review: The Locket by Richard Paul Evans has restored my faith in true love. If there ever was a love story to read, this is it. The Locket is another example of one of today's best writers.
Rating: Summary: Read and enjoy this unusual love story! Review: This book was a very quick read, as I have found all of Mr. Evans' books to be. While at times the writing did seem a little lengthy and the plot contrived, I very much appreciated the message behind this book (and all of his books, for that matter). This latest work was indeed a quick read, as I finished it in two readings. The story is quite enjoyable although at times I kept mentally picturing Ali McGraw and Ryan O'Neal (albeit in reversed roles) as Faye and Michael. The book gave me pause as I reflected on Esther's comments on old age and how certain decisions in one's life can indeed be pivotal experiences. This is a must-read for fans of Mr. Evans and it shall receive a place of honor in my library next to the "Christmas Box" series I own. Read and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Richard Paul Evans does it again! Review: I was eagerly anticipating another Richard Paul Evans novel, although I wasn't sure how well he would deviate from the trilogy material. But The Locket is classic Evans style: thoughtful, inspiring, emotional, and romantic. I was not dissapointed in the least!
Rating: Summary: Beautfiul love story....suspenseful Review: This is one of those books that you finish within 2 days, because you just can't put it down. A wonderful love story. Beautiful prose. This is one of my all time favorites for this year.
Rating: Summary: Why I wrote The Locket Review: When I was sixteen, a high school sociology teacher gave us the assignment to visit a nursing home resident every week, for the duration of her course. My first meeting with my adopted resident, Lucille, was as awkward as I imagine a blind date with someone else's great-grandmother would be. Through time, I learned I was Lucille's only visitor, and my attitude began to change. Lucille never spoke to me, but I began to see something change in her demeanor whenever I visited. A quiet gratitude, perhaps. A friendship. Two months after I met Lucille, she died. It was only then that I realized the extent of my connection with her. After learning of her death, I left the nursing home, and I never went back. That is, until I wrote The Locket. The Locket, like all my novels, is a love story. A story about the young love of Michael and Faye and the challenges they face. It is also a story of old love, between Esther and the man she lost so many years before. But ultimately, it is a story of love between genterations, and the nurturing and forgiveness those relationships always require.
Rating: Summary: Levels of "true" love Review: I could not put this book down. Each character is bound to the other in this web of love, lies, truth, sacrifice, and deception. I bought this book to preview for my 8th grade students' Book Club and fell in love with it. At any age, love determines the path in which we take. The Locket explores all the stages of "true" love.
