Rating: Summary: Another great book from a truly gifted author Review: I have just completed reading The Locket. Richard Paul Evans has a natural gift of writing on paper what we all have felt at sometime. His books have you deal with all of your emotions and leaves you with hope. Hope in yourself, hope in mankind, and hope in the future. His books are an easy read but very addictive. Once you start you can't put the book down until it is finished. Always a good cry with his books. And that is not at all bad. Sometimes we need a release...
Rating: Summary: Generations apart -- but each learns from the other. Review: How refreshing to read a book that has an inspirational message plus contains no graphic sex or vulgar language, yet at the same time, a believable story that is not contrived...a rarity these days!! I enjoyed the thought-provoking excerpts from Esther's diary at the beginning of each chaper...a clever touch by Evans. The flow is good and his descriptions of the characters and scenes "breathe" with reality. A few times, however, he overdoes the character descriptions with strings of trite adjectives. This is a poignant, touching tale that has a little bit of everything (except sex) and will appeal to males as well as females. I found it difficult to put down once I got into the story. Keep up the quality writing, Richard Paul Evans!
Rating: Summary: Old People Are Valuable People Review: Wonderful! Wonderful! I have not read such a good book in a long time. I did not realize what a great writer Richard Paul Evans was until now. I have read about 5 of his books and have given ratings of 5 on each one of them. I don't give 5s to the well known writers sometimes. Read the book. You will have to love it.
Rating: Summary: I HAVE CHANGED AFTER READING THIS BOOK Review: I have heard of Richard Paul Evans, but have never read his books until now. I recieved The Locket in a fed ex package from my step-daughter. I read it in one night. Start to finnish. The Locket is a story of a longing heart and a yearn for love. It is a story of valuing every moment of your every day life. Is about the enduring qualities of hope and forgiveness. When I read the last page I was left in awe. The book has changed me. For anyone who has experienced the redemption of love, you will identify with this book. The Locket is the best book I've read in years, and since reading it, I have put all of Evans' books I've missed at the top of my Christmas list.
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: In this book I found that the tension just grabs you. It's very hard to put the book down. I have not read any other books by Richard Paul Evans, but I do plan to. Michael Keddington has been through many struggles, such as losing his mother to cancer. But he puts his life back on track and seeks employment at a nursing home. While that time he becomes very close to a resident named Esther. Esther has helped Michael through his struggles by giving him some advice. Then towards the end Michael is accused of a crime that makes him be away from the outside world.
Rating: Summary: Heartfelt Story of Lost Love Review: Young Michael Keddington, after caring for his mother with her losing battle to cancer, gains employment at the local nursing home, The Arcadia. Michael is easily received by the elderly residents because of his sincerity, caring nature and friendship that he offers. Michael especially forms a strong bond with resident Esther Huish. As Michael learns of Esther's sad past, her letters and her locket, he is able to open his heart, find forgiveness and learn from Esther's regret and lost love. However, things take a turn for the worse when Michael is accused a horrendous crime.Richard Paul Evans' The Locket is a story full of heart and hope. This was my second novel by Evans. I first read the Christmas Box and throughly enjoyed it. Writing with passion and heart seems to come so naturally to this author.
