Rating: Summary: Fantastic read!!!!! Review: I just love the new horizons Linda Howard's books are moving into. I had been eagerly waiting for the sequel to Kill and Tell, and I was not disappointed at all. My only hope is that she writes another story continuing the exciting adventures of John and Niema. This book was so much more than the ho-hum romance novels that are saturating the market. Thank you, Linda, and keep 'em coming.
Rating: Summary: A Must Buy Novel Review: I am a long-time Linda Howard fan and love everything she writes. She has never disappointed me. All the Queen's Men is no different. While, my favorites are also the McKensies, John Medina is a wonderful character. I remembered him vividly from Kill and Tell and looked forward to his story. Now I'm looking forward to a Louis Ronsard story and don't forget Eric.
Rating: Summary: Incredible!!!!!!! Review: As always with a Linda Howard novel, this one grabs you on the first page and doesn't let you go to the last one...makes me want to go back and search out her books I've yet to read.John Medina and Niema Burdock are hot from the first moment they are thrown together and the chemistry is still there five years later...where does Linda find these guys?! I promise you, this is a good fast read and you will not be sorry you picked it up and read it, you will only be sorry that the story had to end!
Rating: Summary: Linda Howard Delivers Another Exceptional Suspense Review: The review's here have certainly been mixed - and I approached this new book with some interest. Five stars or one? Linda Howard has been a favorite author of mine for a number of years. I'm sure everyone has their favorites - some you like better than others because of the characters or the plots. "All the Queen's Men" is tightly plotted and paced with a sort of spare quality. Characters are so solidy crafted and depicted they seem real. I did not feel the ending was rushed or slipshod but came as a natural part of the flow of the narrative. The male character was vintage Linda Howard. Somehow she manages to keep creating (or re-creating) the alpha male and is able to keep him fresh and distinctive. The female character is very good, and again vintage Linda Howard (reminding me sometimes of the McKenzie female characters) in her independence and intelligence. The sex scenes were excellently done, as usual. A lot of reviewers complaints were that the characters should have come together sooner. But that would have been at the expense of the plot and other characters, totally ruining the rythym of the story. Would you sacrifice any of the information depicted on Louis Ronsard? No. This is definitely a memorable character that we can hope to see more of in the future. Her action scenes at the end are tense and cleanly written, - not muddled and rushed. And of course - everything is resolved. Or is it? Linda Howard's growth as an author has been wonderful to see and experience. Want to check out an earlier version of John Medina - read "Diamond Bay". If you don't want her to change and growth as an author, either stick to her earlier books or find an author that stays the same like a Ludlum. She raises interesting questions - the world she depicts is a real one with real delimma's and choices. It made me think about my own belief system and the choices I would make given the same circumstances. What more could you ask of any author than to provide you with a wild exciting ride, unforgettable characters - and it makes you think too.
Rating: Summary: There must be more to the story... Review: The story of Niema and John seems to have only begun when the book is over. I did like the book alot but it keeps you wanting more. It seems like part of this book's purpose is to introduce us to more characters to look forward to in the future Linda Howard novels. From reading the reviews I can see a lot of fans are disappointed by 'All The Queen's Men'. I prefer to look at it as "The beginning of a great thing". 'After The Night' and 'Dream Man' and some of Linda Howards other books are much more complete stories. This one 'reeks' of: to be continued... It would be wonderful to see another book featuring John and Niema and several other characters from this book (Louis, Laure, Eric, Cara). I usually finish Linda Howard's books in one day (or night) but I did put this one down at about 1:30 a.m. and finished it the next morning. The romance between Niema and John is slow to develop and both keep their feelings for each other to themselves until close to the end of the book. When we get glimpses of what Dallas and Niema's brief marriage was like before Dallas was tragically killed in a mission gone wrong, it would have been difficult for me to 'buy' a fast romance developing between John and Niema. Although their story takes place 5 years after Dallas was killed, both Niema and John have guilt feelings about that ill-fated mission. When I finished reading the book I did not have the satisfied feeling most of Linda Howard's other books have given me and so I went back and re-read it again the same day I finished it. I then realized that even though I want to read more about John and Niema I am even more interested in seeing a book about Louis Ronsard and his daughter Laure, just imagine what kind of a woman it would take to 'take on' a man like him! You want to hate him but you end up rooting for him by the end of the book. If Linda does take him on as a project, I hope she takes as much time as she needs to make his story unforgettable, we all know she can do it. Linda you go girl!! (BUT NOT TOO FAST) P.S. Don't forget about Eric while you're at it.... I have read all books by Linda Howard and will continue to. Sure some I like better than others, and I will re-read the best ones many times over. The Mackenzie series is one of my favorites and if rumors are true we will get the long awaited Chance Mackenzie story some time in 2000 as a Silhouette Intimate Moments novel. That one should take care of the 'romance' lovers who feel cheated by 'All The Queen's Men'. In some ways Chance sounds very much like John Madena so it will be very interesting to see how Linda Howard brings this strong, silent, mysterious man out of 'hiding' so we can find out what makes him 'tick'. Love ya Linda, keep them coming!!
Rating: Summary: Well developed characters, great motivation, suspenseful plot Review: Linda Howard never disappoints. Once again she creates a credible world populated with well developed characters. The plot is full of suspense. She draws you into the clandestine world of spies with authority. I have always loved the strong characters she creates and she hasn't let anyone down here. An excellent read, a real keeper.
Rating: Summary: Another Great Book by Linda Howard! Review: I have read all of Linda Howards books and even though the newer ones are a different type than her earlier works, they are all wonderful in different ways.I find her latest work to be full of action and diverse characters. I truly enjoyed it and would recomend it highly.
Rating: Summary: Do you like good suspense? BUY THIS BOOK! Review: Ms. Howard's storylines have truly evolved over time. I loved her earlier works and continue to love the new stuff. Different, but GOOD! If you are a formula romance reader, you aren't gonna like this one. These characters don't leave you with warm fuzzies. What you do get are strong characters (this may be an understatement) - both male and female, interesting locations, and fast paced action. If you want to take a time out from your everyday life and live vicariously through some interesting characters for a few hours . . . BUY THIS BOOK! I read all things Howard and have kept them all. This is no exception.
Rating: Summary: A good read but I miss the "old" Howard Review: The book was a good read but the relationship with Niema and John wasn't that full blown. Of her recent books, that seems to be missing. I agree, the Rosard character would be interesting to read about in the future. I think Howard's older books (5+ years ago were better and I could re-read those again and again.
