Summary: Right on the mark
Review: I picked up businessThink in the Chicago Airport two days ago and just finished it. A GREAT read and probably the most relevant business book I've read in the last couple of years. I finished the book with a much better understanding of why many of the projects I'm working on right now aren't moving quicker. I also have a better understanding of why my team is struggling with what their area of focus should be. As stated in the book, the difference is huge between what we absolutley "should" be working on vs. just what we "could" be working on. This was probably my greatest take away from the book. I highly recommend it.

Summary: The Rules From Those Who Know!
Review: Having read "the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", I'm quick to pick up anything with the FranklinCovey seal of approval. So I was extremely pleased to find this gem among the glut of business books available. So many bad business decisions are made with overinflated egos and blind confidence that most products and companies fail. Those of us with open minds can benefit from the rules presented in "businessThink", and I have to disagree with the mindset of the reviewer from Tampa. If more executives used these rules and did some serious thinking before taking action, they would more likely end up millionaires than "philosophers." The authors here present the "philosophy" in an easy-to-read format... but it's up to the reader to put them into "action"! Highly recommended!

Summary: thinking is the key
Review: The days of jumping into the deep end of the pool and seeing if you sink or swim are long over. The key to success in today's business world is preparation and you do that by thinking. In this excellent book, the authors, through an easy to understand eight rule model, show readers how to rid themselves of the the "that's the way we've always done it" mentality and to develop a "seventh sense" for knowing what or will not work. As the authors' say, "predetermined, premeditated, premature solutions have no inherent value. Zero!

Summary: You talking to me?
Review: I received this book from a colleague who suggested I check out page number 31 where the 1st rule says---"check your ego at the door". I was a little miffed but once I read that chapter and took the test, I was hooked and read the entire book. I must admit, I've seen the err of my ways and I now can "BusinessThink" my way to solutions without being egotistical (this will take some time, but I'm working on it). Kudos to the newest thought leaders from Franklin Covey!

Summary: The next big idea
Review: BusinessThink is a fresh idea in a sea of business rheteric. This book provides managers with tools necessary to solve business problems in today's rollercoaster ride of business. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a way to refresh and enliven their business unit.

Summary: Long on Marketing Short on Substance
Review: The book says that the heart and soul of business is thinking and this is nothing but hogwash! Action makes business not philosophers, deep thinkers or wise old men. There are lots of thinking problems in the book and page after page is concerned with thinking matters. Tell me, did Bill Gates think about Windows or did he go out and sell something? Action not thinking about it is going to make your business. Planning is good and I hope the authors plan to do a much better book next time.

Summary: It's about time for some common sense business thinking
Review: As a person working with many senior and mid level managers, I appreciate the common sense(not common practice) thinking this book offers. It's amazing to me how quickly people jump to "solution" without slowing down to consider some fundamental questions that a good business person would ask.

I only wish that more of the people I deal with would work from this approach - get away from their ego's and personal agendas and start working a process to arrive at conclusions that are based on sound logic and effective dialogue. These are tools I'll definitely apply. Well done Marcum and Smith.

Summary: Like the Special Edition of a DVD, without the special
Review: I bought this book becuase I read Lets Get Real or Lets Not Play by Mahan Khalsa and was very intruiged by it. Lets Get Real is a TERRIFIC book. Little did I know that BusinessThink is basicly the coles notes version of Lets Get Real with two other names plunked above his. There is little additional value added here. If you want to get the same material but more of it and better presented, buy Lets Get Real.
