Review: in other words, be sure to have a BIG box of Kleenex on hand before buying this book! if you don't mind crying about every dozen pages or so, then you won't mind reading this book. (or maybe it's just me? animal stories have always affected me that way!) the two stories that really stand out in my mind the most are: 1) the one about the dog who had a special friendship with a toad & 2) the one about the little dog who couldn't be separated from his master even in death (the dog spent his remaining years sleeping on his master's grave -- talk about faithful! stories like these always make me wonder: how can such devoted interspecies love be possible for beings who are supposedly soulless?) & then there are the stories about the pet owners grieving over the loss of their pets -- oh! my! god! talk about a sob-fest! not all the stories are sad, but they sure do seem to be the ones that are the most moving & memorable. be warned: the emotionally faint of heart need not apply...

Review: Like all of the "Chicken Soup" books, this one is heart warming and inspiring, particularly for lovers of the animal kingdom around the world. The loyalty and devotion of feline and canine friends is nothing astonishing or new. Many stories have been written about animal companions who have saved lives and warned us of impending danger, often sacrificing their own lives in the process. Cats, dogs and other wonderful creatures of the animal kingdom give us so much love and ask for so little in return - love goes a long way. Physical disabilities have been made more bearable, loneliness has been eased, hearts have been healed, souls have been mended and a reason to live has been inspired by many animal friends. This book is filled with some of those very touching and inspiring stories. The book leaves us with a very important message, that we can learn a great deal about life and love from those who give us love so unconditionally.

Review: Prior to reading this book, I sometimes found it hard to think beyond my physical relationship with my pet. Now, however, I realize that my dog has the same anxieties, passions, hopes and yearnings that I have felt. Although, we have only "experimented" so far, this book has really encouraged me to open the doors.
