Summary: The Easiest Book to Read, The Hardest to Understand
Review: Rumble Fish is an elusive, dark novel that gets deeper with meaning each time you read it. This book is NOT something to be read while watching TV. If you do, then I can garantee that you won't like it, let alone understand it. Being extremely vague of exactly where Rusty-James'story takes place, S.E Hinton has created a world where extreme violence is being thrown to the limits, and drugs are taking control of the streets. The Motorcycle Boy is definitely one the most complex characters in young adult literature today; he plays a huge part of the story, yet the reader can only imagine what he is really like. Reading from a phsycological point of view, Rumble Fish delves deeply into the heart of a dangerous fighter; the extreme physical and emotional pain of crying for the first time, what it's like to not be loved; a concept that was never touched on in any other of Hinton's novels. Overall, an INCREDIBLE read that will leave you breathless. Read it again when your twenty-five.

Summary: Mrs. Soldate's Period 3 Review
Review: Rumble Fish is worth reading, but it is slow in some areas. In the story motorcycles and death are key concepts. S.E. Hinton has written many good books including Rumble Fish and Tex. If you want to see the movie see it after reading the book. Motorcycles and death are respresented in the book. For example, motorcycles are talked a lot about in the book. Rusty James older brother, Motorcycle Boy, is nick-named so because he likes to take motorcycles for a ride without permission. Motorcycles are dangerous and unpredictable. In addition, Motorcycle Boy dies trying to free the rumble fish. Motorcycle Boy is shot by Patterson. Sadly the fish dies besides him before reaching their destination. Motorcycle Boy endangers himself and gets himself killed. Overall, Rumble Fish is a good book, but it was kinda weird. It was easy to understand. It was the first book that many people have enjoyed reading. It was cool, but it was too easy to read because it did not have a lot of hard vocabulary.

Summary: Mrs. Soldate's Period 1 Review
Review: Rumble Fish teaches you to stand up for yourself and be prepared for the future. In the story they had many family and drug problems. Tex was very different from Rumble Fish. The author has a good perspective of teen life even though she writes from a male perspective. There are many teens who have family and drug problems like the characters in Rumble Fish. For example, there are no longer that many traditional families because of numerous issues. Rusty James's mom left his dad when he was a toddler. Mr. James's drinking caused them to split up. In addition, there are many young people doing drugs in the story and the world. Biff Wilcox is a pill popper. Cassandra is another drug addict. There are many problems in the story that relate to the world. Rumble Fish was really cool to read and easy to understand. Some people could realte to it. It has good description, so you got to know the characters well. In some parts it was a little slow. Overall, everybody thought it was a good book.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!
Review: I read this in school as a class novel, and none of us could put it down! The book really explains what it was like growing up where gangs were all around you. Some of Rusty-James's problems were the same as you'd fing from a teen. It's one you should get your child to read!

Summary: Couldn't Put It Down
Review: I'm a junior in H.S. and I hate to read with a passion. But when my teacher gave me this book to read for a report I was alittle anoyed he gave what looked to be a kids book because it was so small. But when I started reading it I couldn't stop. So now I always thank him and I've gotten other people to read it and they love it, too. My parents might even read it because I liked it so much.

Summary: REALLY, REALLY GOOD
Review: all i have to say is that rumble fish was incredibly good. at first i was a bit skeptical because the outsiders, that was then this is now, and taming the star runner were okay but hadn't really caught my interest. rumble fish did though! the characters were easy to relate to and really spoke to the reader, the characters, as well as their situation, were very real and provacative. the book was all in all well-written!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: RUMBLE FISH IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK
Review: Rumble Fish is the second book I have read by S.E. Hinton and it is very good. Just like all of her books, once you start reading it, you can't stop! If you liked the Outsiders or Tex, you'll love Rumble Fish! It's GREAT!

Summary: wonderful
Review: Rusty-James can't live up to his brothers rep. and his brother can't live it down. This book is about kids counting on kids. Rusty wants to be as tough as his brother "the motercycle boy". All his brother wants to do is steel motorcycles. Rustys best freind Steve isn't the tough guy around either. When all truely comes togther there very way of live is shatered. This book was ritten by S.E.Hinton so it's no wonder it's so good.

Summary: A disapointment
Review: Honestly, I hated this book. This book had no perpose at all.The plot went no were, and even if it had, I doubt I would have cared. Rusty-James, Motorcycle boy, and Steve have no depth, you don't see them as any more than this: A dumb gang leader wanna be,a motorcycle stealing drifter/loser,and a scardy cat. The book caught my interest in the beganing chapters, but later on became hopelessly dull. I read this book hoping it would be as engrossing as "That Was Then, This is Now",and was endlessly disapointed. If you want to read a truly good book by S.E.Hinton, read "That Was Then, This is Now".
