Summary: Rumble Fish
Review: Rumble fish is somewhat of a mystery that takes place in an urban setting. The reader is left wondering what Rusty James is up to do next. The reader might also feel confused about steve and Rusty Jame's relationship are they friends to the end or not?The motorcycle boy is a mysterious rebel that has a great deal of influence over Rustuy James as well as the characters.
just when you think the book is predictable it takes a wild twist.Rusty James finds himself in a perdicament where he cannot control what is going on around him. This book is not for people who are into happy endings.

Summary: okay book
Review: rumble fish was an over all okay book. i like s.e. hinton's books. after reading the outsiders for school i hooked on her books. they are different from all the other books that i read. rumble fish played on the lesson that the outsiders did. the importance of friendship, and street smart gets you farther than book smart, well in most cases. it was okay.

Summary: My least favorite Hinton Book.
Review: I have always been a big fan of SE HINTON's book...but this is my least favorite of them all. I am not able to sympathize or relate to the characters in this one at all...and unlike THE OUTSIDERS, I don't find anything interesting about the characters.

Summary: Good... could've been great
Review: After I read S.E. Hinton's novel "The Outsiders", I decided to read this one. When I read it for the first time, I didn't quite understand it. When I read it again, I understood it a lot more. I figured out why it is called "Rumble Fish." It is not because The Motorcycle Boy is amused by the siamese fighting fish. It is called Rumble Fish because in the book, it mentions on how The Motorcycle Boy and Rusty-James are in a glass bubble and on how everyone outside the bubble just live on with their lives. The Motorcycle Boy and Rusty-James are like "rumble fish" that are trapped inside the glass bubble and they are not wanted anywhere. The reason why I say that this book is good and not great is because I expected to learn more about the characters personalities, especially Motorcycle Boy's. He is such an unusual character, and I wish I could've learned more about him. I do not recommend everyone to read this book because some parts in it are questionable. Also it ends too abruptly. The ending will make you decide whether you hate it or you don't. I recommend S.E. Hinton's first novel "The Outsiders" to everyone, but I DO NOT recommend "THAT WAS THEN...THIS IS NOW." Out of Hinton's first three novels, Rumble Fish is my second favorite, THe Outsiders is my first, and That was then... this is now my third favorite. The morale to the story Rumble Fish is "Be careful who you idolize because you might end up just like them."

Summary: it's a good book
Review: I think this is one of those books you either really like or really hate.

I chose to read this book because I really like the author. I probably wouldn't have read it otherwise because I didn't like the title until after I read the book, and I don't like the cover.

A lot of the people who wrote reviews of this said it was really easy to understand. I guess they thought that because it's short and doesn't use big words or anything. I think it's actually complex if you think about it. You think you understand it after you read it but you don't until a few weeks later. It's the kind of book I read more than once. Read it all in one sitting. Motorcycle Boy is the best character I've ever read. I understood everything he said, I think, except for, "Kid, I never got past the river," so if somebody understands that let me know what it means.

This is definitely a good book. The Motorcycle Boy is one of the coolest characters ever. The ending of the book hits you really hard. It's weird how you can see it however you want - like you can think it's really deep or really not. I thought about it after I read it. The characters are realistic, especially Rusty-James (the protagonist) and Steve (his best friend).

For some reason I don't think adults would like this book as much as kids do. It was cool to read because even though I'm about Rusty-James's age my life is so different.

I haven't seen the movie but it sounds a lot different so I don't think it would be nearly as good.

S.E. Hinton is brilliant and it's really cool that she wrote her first book, THE OUTSIDERS, when she was not that much older than me.

Summary: Rumble Fish
Review: Rumble Fish is a story about a boy named Rusty-James and his friend Steve. Rusty-James is the type of boy that wants to drink, party, and get into trouble. Steve is the complete opposite, he does not want to drink, party, or get into trouble. If you like books about teenagers doing bad things and getting into trouble this is defiantly the book to read. I really enjoyed this book and I think that this is a must read. I also enjoyed Outsiders, and That Was Then, This is Now.

Summary: Rumble Fish
Review: I figured if I didn't see him, I'd start forgetting again."
Growing up, had been hard for Rusty James, he didn't want to remember his middle school years. He had been abandoned by his mother when he was a toddler, his father was a drunk and Rusty James had been expelled from school. He was only as good as his last fight and it all came down, crashing in on him.
S.E Hinton takes us into the hard life of a teen age boy. The boy, Rusty James wants to be the strongest street fighter. Rusty James relies on his fists for friends and respect. We see the true emotions of this teenager his loneliness, sadness, fears and confusion.
Rusty James learns the hard way, he never gets a break. He makes mistakes and pays for them. He looses the one person he admires and respects and ends up in a reformatory.
I recommend this book to boys in middle school. The problems are so complex such as poverty and divorce that an adult would like it too

Summary: Ready for a Rumble!?
Review: Rumble Fish is a great book that takes place in about the 1970's about a bunch of greasers and life out on the street back then. The same author that wrote THE OUTSIDERS wrote this book and does a good job writing book about "hoods". I definitely recommend this book to people who are looking for a read with some action!

Summary: Rumble Fish????
Review: At first I had no idea why I even wanted to read a book called "Rumble Fish." That was very wrong of me. I never expected a book with a title like that to turn out as deep, and thought provoking as it was. I sat down with it, planning to read for a half hour, but I ended up reading the entire book in one sitting. Yes, it was very easy to read, no it wasn't easy to understand. After reading, you will think you understand, but you will come to understand that you won't understand it right off the bat. I sat there thinking about what had just happened. I was completely blown away. I had always wanted to live in a big city, like the one in the book, but now I am having second thoughts. I have never been in a fight, let alone a gang fight, with knives. I can't imagine how Rusty-James can just push the thought aside, and be so cool about it. He made me look like a big [wimp]. I didn't even try to understand what was up with Motorcycle Boy. First of all, what kind of a name is Motorcycle Boy, anyway. I don't even know his real name which makes it pretty much impossible to understand his personality.

It might look easy, but looks can be deceiving.
