Summary: Great for science buffs
Review: Although I liked the concept of the book, I got a little weighed down by the technical and scientific background. The characters were flat; you hardly had a chance to get to know them before they were wiped out by the toxins!! I do agree that this would make for a great movie - sort of on the order of "Seven".

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: The 11th Plague is a well researched book
Review: There is no doubt that the amount of information displayed in this novel reveals a deep knowledge of biological toxins. But what I really expected was a more intense scenario. As the name implies, we can't help but to relate this situation with the ancient Plagues of Egypt, where an entire kingdom is sweprt relentlessly with these plagues. The incidents related in this story seem to be somewhat isolated from one another and does not reflect the terror that a kingdom (or a modern country) might have felt with the presence of ten consecutive plagues. Maybe I was expecting to see an entire nation swept with consternation with a story of apocalyptical dimensions. I was expectiong thousands upon thousands of people smitten by man-made organisms; untold numbers of victims; doctors desperate for cures. The mayority of victims in this book are ministers. And only one person can establish any links between these murders. That spoils the fun I was expecting. Nevertheless, the book is good reading material and impressively documented.

Summary: This is a real eye opener
Review: What creepy fun! I loved the twisted plot and learning about biological threats that face us all. I hope that they make the movie soon!

Summary: Interesting premise ruined by horrible writing
Review: As an infectious disease specialist and Pro-MED subscriber, I was most eager to read The Eleventh Plague. Despite a plausible and interesting premise--a recreation of the biblical plagues using biological toxins and infectious organisms--the book utterly failed to please. The writing is stilted and leaden; the characters, flat and uninteresting; and plot development, non-existent. Don't waste your time on this book; read The Coming Plague if you want an accessible and well-written text about infectious disease disasters, past and present.

Summary: read it, read it, read it!
Review: I have a love for technical thrillers, and this one just blew me away. I was totally hooked, and barely put it down from beginning to end. It is terrifying to think all the situations in this story are possible. All the detail made the story very scientific and chilling at the same time. I especially loved all the GORY description and events.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A too real chilling thriller
Review: A seat-of-your-pants read. All too real for the day and age in which we live. Can't wait for the movie! (And I'll never eat foreign-grown strawberries again, John ;)

Summary: A lot of thinking went into this story.
Review: Before modern mankind had classified the insects and given names to disease, the ten plagues were loosed upon Egypt by "I AM". Could these plagues be mimicked today by, let's say, a mad man?! That is exactly what happens in this story. It is easy reading and satisfying to be able to figure out who the villain is without needing a masters in criminology to do it. The real scary thought is if some person reading this story may want to try any of this stuff out on people. In response to that frightful question, I have read on the ProMed medical bulletin board that the facts have been changed enough to prevent this from becoming a bioterrorist cookbook. You can relax. Read it and enjoy!

Summary: Unbelievable suspense.
Review: Unbelievable suspense. Got no sleep until I finished it. Where's the movie?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: captivating
Review: I could not put this novel down until I finished it. I can hardly wait for it to be on the silver screen--Val Kilmer? Howard Stern as Teddy? Hmm..

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Excellent premise, riveting in some chapters, lost in others
Review: The plagues are ominous and quite interesting in their development. It certainly makes you wonder about possibilities for modern day biological warfare. Keep this book away from Sadam! Though I enjoyed it, It would drag in some chapters. Wait for the paperback edition.
