Rating: Summary: The different point of view Review: At first, I was not sure I liked the book.A few days later I began to understand the book better and enjoyed it much more than I had before.I liked it so much because it had a different way of seeing things , that it may be something we all can relate too,and to know that life is full of surprises and you have to adapt to it.I also like it because I live in a small town too.(And there is nothing to do here either!)

Rating: Summary: The REAL Golden Rule Review: Zachary Beaver is a wonderful book that teaches a good lesson: it's what's on the inside that counts. I know taht you'e probably heard that before, but this book shows it in a big way: If the fattest kid in the world came to your small town, would you try to make friends with him, or point and laugh? That's why this book is so good, and you should stop reading this right now and pick the book up and read it.
Rating: Summary: When Zacchary Beaver Came To Town Review: In the beginning of the story a boy, named Zachary, in a trailer comes to Antler Texas,[billed as the fattest boy in the world] while Toby [the main character's mom] is trying to become a country singer. Toby's next door neighbor and his best friend Cal has a brother who goes to Vietnam. Toby and Cal spy on Zachary and leave food on the doorstep of Zachary's trailer. Later, they all become friends. Toby and Cal find out that Zachary had never been baptized and they want to arrange his baptism. We think that this book is really great because it has many surprises towards the end of the book. We recommend it for children ages 11-14.
Rating: Summary: When Zachary Beaver Came to Town Review: Book Review "When Zachary Beaver Came to Town" By Kimberly Wills Holt Will you pay Two Dollars to see the fattest boy in the world? Yes?... I used to think that way. I used to say that I will pay any thing as long I see the fattest boy of the world but reading the book When Zachary Beaver came to Town mad me change my mind. If you are thinking on why should I change my mind you should read this passionate, humorous and extraordinary book. You won't waste your time. Toby is thirteen-years-old. This summer was the longest and toughest in his life. ... If you wonder why I change my mind about paying Two Dollars to see the fattest boy in the world you should read this parts from the book "How much do you eat?" he ask Zachary" after Cal ask this question Zachary said, "As much as I can" He sound like "yeah whatever" and that make me feel bad and make me stop reading and think, "How many people ask those kinds of questions." Other sentence that make me feel bad was another question of Cal's, "Where do you go to school?" Zachary answered back, "You're looking at it."What he was trying to say is that he never went out side of the trailer. If I were Zachary after only week I would drive me crazy. I would die of boredom. I think that the author's message was that "one person can change a lot of staff" like feelings and the way of acting. That means to me that one person can come up to me and be my best friend and change my feelings. This means to the world that one president can change one city. My point of view is that i think that that's true. This writer is so good (Kimberly Wills Holt)...

Rating: Summary: A decent fiction story that grabs your interest Review: This story tells of many different people. A 642 pound boy arrives in the small town of Antler, Texas. Not many exciting things happen until Zackary Beaver (the 642 pound boy) comes to town. The story is told through Toby's eyes. I rate this book four stars because it is a good book for children. It also shows many different peoples.
Rating: Summary: Haven't I read this somewhere else? Review: An adequate telling of a coming of age story. I was not enthralled with the narrative. The author has cobbled together familiar themes in an all too short work. I wanted to learn more about the characters and felt cheated when I didn't. Zacharay Beaver is more a distraction than a necessary device for the plot. It's worth a look, but I'm not sure you'll want to come back for seconds.
Rating: Summary: Cannot wait for my son to read this one. Review: This was a great one-day read. What a delight. A thoroughly entertaining book that reminds one of those long summer days when all there was to do was ride a bicycle and wait for the stars to come out. The characters were genuine and so was the situation they found themselves in. I will keep this on the shelf for my son to read 10 years from now. This book is what lazy Sundays were made for.
