Summary: This was the best love story that I have ever read.
Review: In the Last Valentine you can relate to Caroline Thomas as she is going on with life while not knowing if her husband Neil is alive or not. He is in the Air Force and he has to go to war during World War II. This book was very interesting if you want to know what an Air Force pilot went through during the war. He was shot down during an air raid and was taken in by the Phillipino guerillas. The nursed him back to health the best they could. He fought with them against the Japs. He died fighting with them. His body was returned home fifty years after he left for the war. His wife Caroline then knew he was home safe and she could pass on and be with him forever in eternity.

Summary: Love, morality, courage, woven in a unique style.
Review: It is so refreshing to read a novel that doesn't rely on meaninless sex and shallow relationships to get across it's theme. The theme here is clear. Love conquers all. Pratt's unique style of weaving multiple story lines at the same time give the reader a thirst for more. The accuracy of historical events makes you wonder it the story is true. For those who read this and miss the mark... they must not understand pure love. This novel has a thread running deep, that allows the reader to believe at the end that I can have that too. I would recommend The Last Valentine to male and female alike. Anyone who wants a huge dose of true love and courage.

Review: It was an emotional book to read with tears coming from my eyes as I read it. I got so involved in the book that I lost track of all time. I did not want to put it down. I have read The Paradise, Ticket Home, and I will be ordering your latest book, The Christ Report. I can't wait for your next book to come out.

Summary: A truly amazing story
Review: James Pratt wrote a remarkable story of true love, hope, and despair. This was a story of a promise kept and new beginnings. The Last Valentine was absolutely amazing. It moved me in so many ways. The story was not only about true love, but also a story of WWII and the devastation it caused. Caroline waited for her husband, to return from the war, for 50 years. She held on to that promise he made her. The promise he made the day he left. She was so dedicated to him The story made me laugh, it made me cry, but in the end, the story of Neil and Caroline was left in my heart.

Summary: I Couldn't Put It Down
Review: My interest was peeked immediately. I would hurry so that Icould get back to the tender story. I enjoyed the quick way that the author brought me into a new scene. I don't enjoy long discriptive dialogue. I know that true love waits and sacrifices and grows stronger. I have always believed this to be true. It is important for people to know that there are many who stay in love and love grows stronger and better. Deep thoughts touched me and I will remember them and save them. I enjoyed evey minute and couldn't wait to get to the next book "The Lighthouse Keeper." The Last Valentine is a good book, interesting, captivating and with a good moral to it. We need this so much now. Life is good. Love is good. One man and woman - true to each other is very possible and wonderful. I loved this book.

Summary: Beautifully Touching!
Review: One of the sweetest and most poignant books that I have read in a long time. It is an easy, quick read, but the story stays with you for a long time afterwards! I have recommended this book to everyone, especially for a "bring-to-the-beach" read.

Summary: If you liked THE NOTEBOOK, you'll love THE LAST VALENTINE!
Review: Read THE LAST VALENTINE and find out why it has been compared to "Casablance," THE NOTEBOOK, and why People Magazine said it was "like a return ticked to BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY."

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Weak characters and so-so writing
Review: The character development is not deep enough. We are given just a glimpse into what Neil and Caroline's time together was like. It is hard to sympathize much with either of them because we do not really know much about them as a couple.

A great story idea that was not taken to a deep enough level. Read it for a quick love story, but it is definitely not Bridges of Madison County.

Summary: The Last Valentine
Review: The Last Valentine by James Michael Pratt is a story about a couple whose love cannot be torn apart by war. Susan Allison, a reporter from a television studio is assigned to write a love story. In her search for a good story she interviews a man named Neil Thomas Jr., who shares with her a story about his parents never-ending love. Neil gives Susan letters from his father, Lt. Neil Thomas., to his sweetheart and wife, Caroline. Susan begins to read the letters written during World War II. It is February 14, 1944 - Neil's and Caroline's anniversary and Valentine's Day. Caroline is walking with Neil to his train and watches him board along with all the other soldiers. They had been married for a year and now they had to part. As the train is pulling out of the station he promises her that no matter what happens he will come back for her. The Japanese shoot down Neil's plane and he is stranded on an island with Filipino guerrilla fighters. On the island the Filipino guerrilla fighters help Neil gain back his strength so he can help fight the Japanese. A friend of his from the army , Ensign Roberts, had seen Neil's plane go down and had seen Neil climb out of his plane. When Ensign Roberts returns to the United States he searches for Caroline finds her and tells her what had happened to Neil. Caroline anxiously waits for news about her husband, but receives none. For the next fifty years, Caroline, every Valentine's Day, waits at the train station waiting for Neil. On the fiftieth year she receives his last Valentine. The Last Valentine is a wonderful story of love that cannot be broken. The book talks about the war and the men that died and the women who cried for their sons, brothers, and sweethearts. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys love stories. The story about Caroline's and Neil's love is exciting and beautiful. Pratt touches the heart with his details of their love and the hard times they had to go through to finally be together. I enjoyed the book so much that I couldn't put it down. Pratt uses real places in this story which made it feel realistic. He writes about the Los Angeles Union Station and Olvera Street with the small shops making it feel like you are really at the station. Though the book switched back and forth from the past to the present I enjoyed reading this book because of its different style. The letters mixed in with the rest of the story was interesting and something I've rarely seen in the books I've read. I do not recommend this book for those who do not enjoy tearjerkers and don't read carefully. The book was a bit confusing because of the switching back and forth from the present to the past. Throughout the book there are letters from the past and scenes from the present and if you don't read the book carefully you can easily get confused.
