Rating: Summary: A Job Well Done! Review: I haven't even finished reading this book yet and I love it! I am on page 230 and this book is without a doubt worth it. This book has to do with the misunderstood angst of Buffy's teenage years. It also deals with the complex issues of Buffy and Angel's relationship. The book features Buffy's lovable mom sick. (Could be thought of as a fortelling of season five) Just reading the chapter where Joyce tell's Buffy that she might have cancer made me feel for the book in an emotional way. Sometimes reading a Buffy book is better than watching the episode because you can read Buffy's thoughts and how she is feeling. Between Buffy's sick mother and an immortal vampire, Veronique, Buffy deals with having to save the world on the same day of her mother's surgery. She starts thinking of Veronique as cancer and Buffy must kill it. Throughout the book Buffy has to make some very sad choices. She has to deal with herself and Angel, with the fact that he will live forever, total immortality and she will die old, or young. I love this book because the characters a well matched with those of the TV show. This book was so good that it could be an episode. The fight scenes are very well described and the plot is more than superb. I would give this book 6 stars if it could go up to that! If you are looking for a good Buffy book to read to make you sad or happy in a very Buffy way then I suggest you buy this book! It is worth it.
Rating: Summary: Immortal is Great! Review: Immortal was a wonderful book! The storyline was something that could be on the show. I loved the storyline, but the flashbacks from Veronique's past were my favorite parts of the book. Buffy's mom (Joyce) is sick and has to go to the hospital, making Buffy question her relationship with Angel. Angel will live forever while she will die. Willow was awesome in this book. I loved how she was the "body" for trapped spirits. The dead slayer (and ghost) Lucy was also a great touch. It took me a little longer to read then some of the other Buffy books, but it's still good. Golden and Holder have done it again. Go out and but Immortal!
Rating: Summary: GOSH.... I LUV THIS BOOK Review: I read this book bout a year ago... It was soooo great. i really enjoyed reading it. The whole story was suspense packed... I think the title is ambiguous. It relates on the one hand to buffys mom and on the other to the demon. I live in germany and the title over here is THE DEMON OF DEATH or sumthin like that... so i like urs better ;). Everyone who isnt sure if he shall buy this book....well DO IT !!!
Rating: Summary: Immortal is a Buffy Fav Review: Immortal was a pretty powerful story in the life of Buffy Anne Summers. The storyline that Joyce would get sick totally predetermines the events to come in the actual series. Buffy faces one of the ultimate villains ever as a vampire actually resurrects herself into the next body. Very good use of the Lucy Hanover former slayer assists Buffy Summers current slayer concept. Bad form on the whole Xander and Cordelia split up however. A must read.
Rating: Summary: Interesting, but ... Review: The idea of a vampire who can resurrect after being staked is intriguing to this fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This book examines the idea in a much more effective way than the odd season 5 premiere episode "Buffy vs. Dracula." The story is well-written; Christopher Golden does a great job developing the plot including throwing in historical sections which give the reader a view into Veronique's experiences over the centuries. There's also a sub-plot about Buffy's mom being ill which curiously foreshadows events of last season. Now for the "but" part, so to speak. While the idea is interesting and well-developed, this whole book is a bit more gory than other Buffy novels I've read, and it ends on a depressing note. I still recommend it if you are a fan of the series. I tend to read these during summer hiatus when I am Buffy-deprived.
Rating: Summary: I love this book!!! Review: This is the first Buffy book I read and I LOVED it. It's an oringinal novel, but the story is GREAT and I felt like I was actually there fighting Veronique as Buffy, casting spells as Willow, cracking jokes as Xander, even snapping out comebacks as cordelia. It's a great book and you should pick a copy up today. Don't miss it!
Rating: Summary: Awsome Buffy book!! Review: I liked this one alot. I thought it was well written by Holder and Golden (both masters of buffy verse) and had a great story line. The characters were well written and their interaction during the course of the story was true to the show. Great read!!
Rating: Summary: Please make this into a movie! Review: I could not put this book down. I make it a rule to only read scary and suspenseful books, like Dean koontz and Stephen King, and this book really fit into that genre. I think this coul be made into a great movie. Too bad Eliza Dushku has already been in the show because I could picture her for the last body Veronique inhabited. I thought the authors had the characters down pat, and knew exactly what they would say in a given situation. This was wonderfully written, and I could picure everything that was happening. this is a must read book for Buffy fans, and anyone else who likes scary books.
Rating: Summary: slayergirl2001 Review: This book was excellent. I liked how they had to call upon another slayer, as well as use another slayer to fight Veronique earlier. I enjoyed Angel's 'dealings' with the demon. I thought Veronique's end done incorrectly for an immortal vampire and I was suprised at how the gang stopped her plans. I also enjoyed Buffy having to deal with her mother's problem as well, though the problem was very ironic for later developments on Joyce. All in all, very good.
Rating: Summary: A great Buffy novel Review: I have read several of Golden and Holder novels based on the Buffy show, and I am always impressed with their ability to give voice to the characters' personalities. I never have any trouble picturing Xander, Buffy, Willow or Cordelia in their portrayal in his novels. I am often seen giggling uncontrollably, particularly during dialogues with the entire character group. In Immortal, Buffy meets her match with an immortal vampire named Veronique, who is doing her best to raise the Triumvirate demons with the assistance of eleven of her children vampires. Buffy, Angel and the group are determined to stop her before its too late. I thought the plot was great, albeit slightly drawn out, and again, great character depiction. It's a fast read and high on the entertainment scale. I'm definitely looking forward to another Golden Buffy novel!
