Summary: Where is the Johannah Lindsey magic????!!!!
Review: I have been fan of Johannah Lindsey for over 18 years. She is one of my 5 top favorite authors. Johannah Lindsey has a flare of leading the reader from every day reality into her unique world of fantasy that makes you wish you never had to leave. But, this was one fantasy I would and left behind, without looking back.
"A Man To Call My Own" is one of the most disorganized stories I have ever read. The story starts out with twin sisters, Amanda and Marian. Marian is the good twin and Amanda is the bad twin. Their father dies and they have to move to Texas to live with their father's sister "Red". Marian hides behind ugly glasses to be different from her sister so as not to attract attention her self from the opposite sex. Amanda is selfish and mean. Chad is sent to pick up the twins and bring them to their aunt. He is attracted to Amanda, but she ignores him and complains through out the whole trip. Meanwhile, ugly shy Marian is attracted to Chad. He gets them home and changes his mind about his attraction to Amanda and without the reader knowing why makes love to Marian. During the whole story Amanda is a real #$5$%$%^ and at the end of the story her character changes. (...)

Summary: Confused
Review: I just don't believe it's a Lindsey! Not this or anything put out in her name since the last Malory book. (late 90's 2000?)They haven't even come close to the real JL.

Is she still out there? Maybe writing under a different name? Help!! Where do you go from here? sigh.

Summary: It was worth the wait!
Review: I just got done reading this book and this was really worth waiting for. Johanna Lindsey is an incredible author and I just wish there were more authors like her. I bought this book the day it came out after work and would have finished it alot sooner if I didn't have so much work to do. Even though the plot is kind of typical, it still was pretty romantic. Like alway, Johanna rocks!

Summary: Good Story
Review: I love Lindsey's books! This story was very entertaining and as always I couldn't put it down. I lover her characters and the sense of humor. It may not been her best work but I would still give it a thumbs up! Can't wait for the next book to come out!

Summary: Don't Waste Your Time and Money!
Review: I never thought I would ever give a Johanna Lindsey book so low a rating; however, this book is garbage. How many times do we have to read about a good twin and a bad twin? This book is full of flat, undeveloped characters, and the most predictable storylines. Quite honestly, I haven't liked much of Johanna Lindsey's books since the 90's. I can't help but think that she needs to focus on the quality of her writing rather than the quantity. Her latest books appear to be rushed out in a manufactured style of writing.

Summary: A stinker
Review: I read about 230 pages of the book (in one sitting) and couldn't finish. Took it back to the library. This book was a rush job and I can't believe Johanna Lindsey, of all people, put her name on this!

Don't worry we still love you Johanna! Crank out some more Malory books and I'll be happy as a pig in slop :)

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I should have waited to get it at the used book store. I was so hoping it would be like her earlier books, I was SO tired of the continueing slow sagas of the Mallory's etc. It was ok, if you are of the old genre, everybody loves a Lindsey then read it. But will it be up to the high standards she began writing with. No. But it is worth it to read one time. This one I'll keep only because I have it in hardcover and I have all of her books. Will I read it again? Doubtful..

Summary: It was a good book
Review: I understand where the repetition comes in but besides that I thought it was a really good book. Actually I took it out of a library and lost it and I was so disappointed because I didnt think I would ever find it again (ok a bit of exaggeration but...) and there it was sitting at another library and I was so excited to read it. I didnt find it disappointing in the least. Also you can say "I could care less" because it's like saying that the topic is so dumb that you could find it in your heart to care less which is insulting. See it all makes sense...anyway good book read it

Summary: Better than people make it out to be...
Review: I was a little surprised by the comments being made about this book. I agree that I prefer some Johanna Lindsey's older titles; however, I really enjoyed this novel and was surprised it was receiving such censure. I happen to like the romance novels where the heroine is not just absolutely, drop-dead gorgeous and the attraction is not immediate but something grows over time. That is what makes a true romance.

That said, the only complaint, which not really a complaint but an observation, was that there could have been some more anticipation leading up to the first love scene. I was actually shocked how quickly it occured and thought it a little unlikely that the heroine wouldn't put a little bit of a fight the first time our hero attempted to take liberties....but such is the case.

All in all, this is a good novel; one that I have read more than once.

Summary: 1/2* A bit dissapointed...
Review: I was looking foward to this book after reading the flap, hoping it was have more in common with her earlier works. I was a bit dissapointed in this book and read it in less than four hours.

While I really felt for Marion, I didn't understand why she felt that she had to hide herself so much. She then felt attracted to Chad, but was going to give him up to save him from her sister's clutches. She isn't a matryr (?), but she acted like all Amanda's actions were her responsibility. Then I have to say I was shocked by how sudden Marion and Chad became lovers. One minute he doesn't like her, the next he's dragging her down in the hay.

I felt that Lindsey spent too much time describing Amanda's faults, so by the end of the book when she tried to portray Amanda in a different light, I could really have cared less. I felt that she got what she deserved. There just wasn't the emotion that I normally find in Lindsey's books. If this is your first book by Lindsey, don't be dissapointed, because there are much better ones out there!
