Rating: Summary: This book changed my whole outlook on life... Review: I was at a mall and walked into the bookstore. I saw Gary's book Soul Stories, and something told me to buy it. So I did. (I don't buy books this way, believe me!)I read it in 2 days and then read it again over the next week, and am now on my third reading. This book touched my heart like no other. It's easy to follow and understand. It makes SO much sense! I'm buying it to give as a gift to 2 of my friends.

Rating: Summary: Simplicity teeter/tottering on brilliant Review: I think everyone entered this new millennium seeking truthful answers to difficult, internal questions. The stories in Gary Zukav's book "Soul Stories" are at the heart of simplicity. Life problems/situations can seem monumental and so very complicated that one would think that the answer or solution would have to be equally complicated... Gary's message, or answer in his book, is to connect to your intuitive feelings/emotions not your intellect. If you are looking for a book that contains precise answers, strategies or a quick fix, you will be disappointed. The book metaphorically reminds you what it feels like to walk through warm, green grass or on a new plush carpet barefooted.... or to go back to sleep in the morning after a warm shower. The stories seem so simplistic that, at times, the book is more of a meditative aide than informative. The message: practice kindness, what you express will be experienced, seek harmony, trust and love... reading his book, one gets the feeling of sitting down with a childhood, best friend that you haven't seen since high school. Brilliant, in that it restrains the thinking brain while you explore your soul.
Rating: Summary: Gary's repeated message... Review: ...is because he is keen for you to get it. He has to repeat his beliefs because he knows the value of them, and is aware that at any moment, you will 'click'. His books are to be read and re-read. You may have missed something, he wants his message heard. He is trying different approaches and methods. If you got it before, great! This time, his stories capture your imagination, and lead you to water gently. Bitterness, cynicism, sarcasm are what keep you in your prison. If you stop fighting it, you will probably discover the insights in his stories. Keep your mind open and aware at all times, and you will find every line has a gift, a message for you. You'll probably see things even he didn't see when he wrote them. Opportunity comes knocking often, but you have to open the door. That's a small part of what I got from Gary's books. Once you are open... the realisations are endless, the healing profound, life is meaningful, a story.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful if not the most enlightened perspective Review: Gary Zukav has much to give and share. Like so many other's that appear on the great Oprah show these writers become instant best sellers. It's a little sad that others with even more powerful messages of hope, healing are over looked. The Book SIGNALS here at amazon is a prime example. Here a is an important book over looked. I challenge you to go and look at SIGNALS.
Rating: Summary: Too patronizing and not enough substance Review: I really wanted to like this book (and audio tapes) as I have enjoyed seeing the author on Oprah but he reads it to you as if you are a very young child incapable of getting the point - and he never really got to a point. A lot of cute, feel-good stories, a lot of repetition, and not much more, I'm afraid.
Rating: Summary: Good Premise, But Not Enough Depth Review: I reserved Gary Zukav's SOUL STORIES from my local library rather than purchase it because I thought it might prove to be "more of the same" of this popular genre. However, little did I know it would be THAT much more of the same! Mr. Zukav seems very sincere in his beliefs, and the brief length of his chapters and the parable-like format make for easy reading. Indeed, I liked his Hawaiian shaman's emergency blessing so much (for when it's hard to find the good in someone, just remember: "His exhalation feeds the plants.") that I wrote it down. However, I found Mr. Zukav to be quite repetitive in his ideas; so much so that this book could have been half its present length. The content of SOUL STORIES seemed to be much more appropriate for the lecture circuit than for a book-signing.
Rating: Summary: Holy Smoke... Review: So much for all that 'narrow gate' stuff... The Good-News-according-to-Gary assures us that the 'New Man', the 'New Woman' and the 'Universal Human' are on their way...and it's literally a 'walk in the park' compared to the experiences described by other voices over the centuries. Those looking for comfort here may find it, along with much darkness well-suited for whistling.
