Rating: Summary: Soul Stories Review: This book by Gary Zukav is a complete waste of time. It's just a rehash of his really wonderful other books. The book merely recites fairytale-type stories of folks who have experienced supposedly unexplainable events in their lives.Gary is capitalizing on his reputation and writing this book merely for profit.
Rating: Summary: I Love Gary but This Isn't His Best Work Review: First, if you are a fervent Christian you won't like a book by Zukav. I know through personal meditations and religious experience that his premise of reincarnation is true. I have had to blend this into my Christian upbringing. The gift of Zukav and his message of reincarnation, complete with unseen "helper" spirits around us, is that it affirms what some of us have already stumbled upon in our own spiritual work. For this I am very grateful to him. This particular book by him I feel could have been written better. His other book "Seat of the Soul" is much better and gives a better overview of what he is all about. It really does a good job of answering all the questions about life after death and the spirit world that a "new age" seeker may have. His writing is sometimes choppy in any of his books but for someone like me who has been questioning life, death and what it's all about since I can remember it has been a wonderful relief to know others have come to the same conclusions that I have found on my own.
Rating: Summary: GO FOR IT Review: This is a real good book. The stories mentioned are true stories been experienced either by the writer himself or other people he knew. The book discussed different interesting issues which certainly would attract every one. It talks about some kind of feeling which we keep carrying with us during our life trip like anger, fear of anything and jealousy. Of course, for each and every one of those feelings a reason which most of us never really tried hard to find out. It might be in our back head hidden there, cause simply we dont want to discuss it. Definitely while reading this book, you will start to think of yourself and how you feel, you would remember some certain attitudes of yours happened and you behave in a way that startled everyone including yourself... The book also discussed the Male and the Female, the old type and the new type and believe me this is a very interesting part which you should'nt miss.. Moreover, there are certain kind of behaviour the writer advice with like sharing and love. Sharing with others the most valuable things (not necessay in material term) you feel that at certain time you should give it away to somebody else who needs it more than you..... There is also, something very interesting the book mentioned, that never ever judge anything by saying this is good, bad or unfair till you see the whole picture of the thing you are talking about...same with life and Uneverse they are always kind with us and even If something bad happened to us or we experienced something we did'nt like, we should be patient enough to wait and see the good thing out of this experience.... Read this book and you will find the examples which are going to startle you as it did to me..... Enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: A good companion to "Seat of the Soul" Review: I really enjoyed this book, but not as much as Seat of the Soul. I think because I read SOTS at a time when I needed to make a change it spoke to me more than this book did. Maybe if I read Soul Stories last winter when I was in need of some healing, this book could have had the impact on me that Seat of the Soul did. Anyway, it's a book of 52 stories that all show how to reach authentic power through multi-sensory perception. One has to believe in these things in order to be receptive to this book's lessons. If you aren't sure if you are ready for his philosphy, check out Gary Zukov's visits on Oprah. She turned me onto Seat of the Soul and Gary Zukov, and now I never miss an episode when he is on. If his take on life jibes with you, read both books and begin your journey toward authentic power.
Rating: Summary: Soul Food Review: Gary Zukav is one of the most loving insightful people on earth. In this book he shares stories to give examples of how to live a multi-sensory life. I especially enjoyed his sharing of his own experiences and how he has transformed into the person he is.
Rating: Summary: Recommendations for Gary, Oprah, and the Rest of Us Review: 1. Maybe you liked Soul Stories, or part of it like I did. The first 132 pages were a great quick review of our soul's life journey, tailored for the metaphysically challenged like me. But I much prefer Miguel Ruiz's The Four Agreements, Alan Cohen's I Had It All The Time, or Wayne Dyer's Your Sacred Self. 2. Maybe you didn't like Soul Stories, or part of it like I didn't. The rest of the book on Spiritual Partnerships seemed forced, grim, and sophomoric in its writing style. Gary makes it sound like a spiritual partnership is a grueling climb up Mt. Everest roped to your partner. Doesn't sound like much fun. I think a spiritual partnership can be fun, don't you? Gary should read Stewart Wilde's Life Was Not Meant To Be A Struggle, Alan Cohen's Joy Is My Compass, or Ariel and Shya Kane's Working On Yourself Doesn't Work. 3. Maybe you wondered how someone could write two books on spiritual partnerships and never discuss the magnificent spiritual role and awsome spiritual power of the divine gift of sacred sex in an intimate relationship. Maybe you would want to know why Gary only briefly mentions sex three times in Seat of the Soul, and only as an example of the bad addiction he had and you may have. Or only one time in Soul Stories, and only in the context of sexual promiscuity. Maybe Gary should read Dr. Victoria Lee's Soulful Sex, Margo Anand's The Art Of Everyday Ecstasy, or Charles and Caroline Muir's Tantra: The Art of Conscious Loving before he gives us any more advice about how to empower each other in spiritual partnerships. No wonder Gary's descriptions of the work of spiritual partnerships sound so grim: he never includes fun and sex!
Rating: Summary: Soul Stories Review: It is just what it says. Problem is, a bit contrite in its 52 lessons, some of which seem forced. It is as if pressure to publish resulted in an occasional unconvincing vinette. I got more from the table of contents as an indication of what the author was trying to convey than the actual essays following. Gary, if you read this, Seat of the Soul is perfect. Spend your time getting the message out, no need for additional verbage.
Rating: Summary: Feeding my soul Review: This book is so simple and profound at the same time. I had some trouble reading the Seat of the Soul, but this book is like soul food and I couldnt stop eating. His stories are put in terms of everyday life and gives us the tools to go inward and find our power of a multisensory life. For anyone looking to live their life on a conscious aware plane this book is a must.
Rating: Summary: Another Courageous Step Forward Review: While this follow-up book lacks the punch of Mr. Zukav's "Seat of Soul", it still has interest value for those who wonder if they have lived before; and if they do have multisensory perception, a natural innate ability to experience life beyond the realm of the 5 physical senses. The soul stories shared are personal experiences of Mr Zukav, his family and friends. Some do touch a responsive chord in the heart; others elicit skepticism. Yet there is something refreshing about a scientist who courageously steps into the arena of promoting spiritual qualities and attempting to unravel the meaning and mysteries of life. Spiritual partnership? Universal Humans? Sacred Tasks? Authentic Power?Emotional awareness? Harmony, Cooperation? Earth as a training school for spiritual evolution? If these subjects interest you, read this book. If not,-- well then you know what to do. I read the book, it is yet another courageous step forward in attempting to raising our consciousness. You may find your own experience here.
Rating: Summary: A Fellow Soul Teacher and Traveller! Review: As a psychotherapist, author and 25 year seminar trainer on life strategies, I have often quoted Gary Zukov's ideas in my classes and to my clients. What most pleased me about Soul Stories is Gary's own story... his personal journey and struggles. He models authentic power for me in his vulnerability and openness. His honesty helps me to honor my own strengths and weaknesses. He is right when he says that our lives are movies and we need to be not just passive actors, but the directors. I would like to add that we need to be open to the wonders of the universe and that everything good and bad is a gift. And if we have faith in these gifts and are aware of what we are feeling and doing, we can create the life we want and are meant to have.
