Rating: Summary: A "must read" for business success in the new economy. Review: Customers.com is a well thought-out and pleasantly structured blend of two distinct strengths: 1) the use of innovative marketing and customer service concepts as a framework, and 2) many in-depth overviews of interesting and diverse case studies of companies that have pioneered guidelines for leveraging the internet for their business success. Many thanks to Patricia Seybold and her colleagues for publishing a marvelous compilation of their thought provoking work.

Rating: Summary: Best book on Internet-based customer service and CRM! Review: Patty has once again demonstrated her ability to ascertain critical success factors, this time for online retailing and virtual stores. This is the book that I most highly recommend to Oracle's eC BDMs (electronic commerce "Business Development Managers"). David Scott Lewis, Director, Internet & eCommerce SWAT Team, Oracle Corporation
Rating: Summary: Great introduction to e-commerce Review: Patricia Seybold put together a well organized, easy to read primer on "Why" and "How" to set up a presence in e-commerce. I especially liked her well thought out approach to explaining the eight criticial success factors to creating a profitable e-business. Each step included two case studies where she explained why and how the companies decided to embrace e-commerce. She pointed out key learnings each company made along the way and inclused her own suggestions as to what improvements each could incorporate in their e-business plans to make them even more effective. I appreciated the fact that she segmented the technical information (using a separate heading and font)from the main text so that those of us not of a technical bent could skip over it. I plan to recommend this book to several others in our company and to my clinets as well.
Rating: Summary: Helped me outline my e-commerce strategy - invaluable Review: As a neophyte when it comes to e-commerce and yet given the responsibility of implementing it for my firm, I found this book an incredible resource to help get me started. Doesn't get into the nuts and bolts as much as I need for the 2nd steps but was invaluable in helping me understand where I needed to start.
Rating: Summary: Excellent - A great overview for the new & the experienced Review: An easy read that covers the vision and very tangible examples. The companies addressed don't always have the flashiest, highest profile strategies which is good; not everybody can launch an Amazon. Each example provided practical tips and starting points plus potential traps - and very good examples of migration and roll-out strategies. Customers.com takes the mystery out of e-Commerce and provides an excellent guide that will help anyone with planning a new launch or enhancing an existing service. Everybody on my team now has a copy and we also give the book to our customers who are reviewing their e-Commerce strategy. Invaluable.
Rating: Summary: An excellent book for beginners Review: Very straight forward. I do not think that this is really for advanced users of the internet. People who have used the internet already for some time will realize that most of the things written in the book are internet "common sense" that are being practiced by many on-line shopping web sites already. The book also lacks on the technical aspects of of building an excellent site. It is a good book with some excellent "take-aways" but somewhat too general.
