Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Thrills at times, but overlong Review: Allan Folsom's THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW jump-starts on the first page when Paul Osborn, in a Paris cafe, sees across the room the man who killed his father and gives chase. Over the next 725 (!) pages he continues that chase, which pulls him into the midst of an international conspiracy peopled by various criminals and comrades from France, the U.S., Germany, and Switzerland. An entertaining read. Folsom has a nice way of interrupting the mundane with matter-of-fact horror. Still, there are long sections that could easily have been cut -- this should have been a 400-page book. Some of the plot twists are ludicrous, the good luck of some of the characters entirely unbelievable, but enjoy the book nonetheless. One other note -- the book is marred by numerous typos that should have been corrected in the paperback edition. A good beach read, or save it for a long, long train ride.

I have NEVER EVER found a book that was launched into action as quickly as this...IF by chance YOU know of one that does, PLEASE e-mail me and let me know. WOW! I can't TELL you how many times my jaw was opened in awe of the sheer speed this plot takes, and how fantastic it all was, but through it all you were persuaded to suspend your belief and just take it all in just because it was bloody good fun. The very last verse alone is worth the price of the book--but PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T read it in advance and spoil it. A GREAT story and a GREAT book. Unfortunately his 2nd novel 'Day of Confession' wasn't as compelling, but still it was entertaining. Check this book out and clear away your schedules, especially if you are a slow reader, 'cuz you WON'T want to put it down. Folsom has written a book that Ludlum MIGHT have written in HIS prime had his career started in the early 90's instead of the early 70's. TRUST me, that's high praise indeed.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An amazing rollercoaster Review: "The Day After Tomorrow" is a fast-paced thrill ride. It starts as a man named Paul Osbourne sees his father's killer sitting across from him in a cafe. When Paul's emotions get the better of him, he attacks the man in front of everyone. As the story progresses, not only do we find out that there was more to this man as we thought, but there is more to EVERYONE do we think. Paul and an American police officer (sent over to France to investigate some strange beheadings) are sent on a mad dash across Europe to escape an evil Orginazation set on killing anyone who gets in the way. Plots and subplots galore keep this book interesting from the first page to the last. And with a finishing line enough to make one re-read it dozens of times before finally closing the cover, this is definately a book that shouldn't be missed.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: First Time Writer Strikes Gold Review: Folsom's former scriptwriting career vividly shows in the best psychological thriller in years. The Nazi element of what would happen if they would have won the war or most probably as written in THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW what if they lost and they had something more sinister in mind. Cloning, when this book was written was seen by most as improbable. Now, we wait for legislations to enforce its use. This idea which centres on the main cahracter Dr. Paul Osborne, shows the probability of the widespread conspiricy of Germany and the never-dying Nazis and how many people can get caught up in what Osborne was doing only just to retribut his father's murder thirty years before. To fully understand this page-turning nail-biter you probably have to read the book a couple of times. But all is left to say in this book which will probably be made a fantastic movie is,.....What if?
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Disappointing and Ridiculous Review: I can't really get into a book based on the ridiculous premise that people are being chased across Europe and killed because they have Adolf Hitler's head in a box in deep freeze and want to surgically reattach it to someone else in order to have a re-emergence of the Third Reich. The action sequences are exciting and all, but that really doesn't make up for the far-fetched fantasy world that you and I just don't live in.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: starts off well but loses pace and credibility Review: Starting off thrilling and fast like bullets coming out of a machine gun, the reader is carried to various spots all over Europe. Soon he gets trapped in a net of conspiracy and mystery. The final plot goes on for over 300 pages, far too meticulous, neverending, with too many characters showing up, doing too little. We find out that all Germans hate foreigners, Germany is full of skinheads and all Germans want - even nowadays - is breed a superior race. Giving that and all those irritating spelling mistakes, this book should be read till approx. page 300 and then thrown in a basket.

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Find a better use of your reading time Review: Unpleasant and completely unbelievable premise; full of murder and meyham without a rational purpose. I should have listened to my inner voice to cease and desist when at the very onset of the story the author began his psycho-babble to lay a path for his 'hero'. But alas, I saw it through to the no-surprise end. I picked up this book based on reviews, which just goes to show that YOU SHOULD NOT BELIEVE ALL THAT YOU READ, including my words.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Truly awful Review: Do not bother with this book - go and read something by Le Carre or even an early Tom Clancy novel...this book could have been written by a 10 year old. I had guessed the general theme of the ending about a quarter of the way into the book. Terrible.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book is awesome Review: will keep you guessing until the last page. i highly recommend.
