Summary: Recondo should be read by all Americans
Review: If you enjoy reading personal accounts of combat, this one's for you. This book details the many patrols and missions that Chambers went on. Doesn't spend too much time describing/discussing mundane details of military life. Sticks to personal accounts of action in the jungle. You can see how he turns from a cherry to a veteran recon man over the course of the story. Written very well. Tough to put down. Having read dozens of personal accounts of combat in Vietnam, this one stacks up with the best of the rest.

Summary: Author Tells It Like It Really Was in Viet Nam
Review: If you want to fully comprehend and sense the rigors of that unforgettable war in Viet Nam, RECONDO is a "must read paperback." Larry Chambers' powerfully written book, accurately documents what has been told to me again and again by every one of my buddies who was there.

Summary: A SUPER READ ABOUT REAL PATRIOTS
Review: Larry Chambers takes you into the jungles of Vietnam with a vengeance. He will have you laughing then cringing in the same sentence. He will have you ducking incoming. Once you pick up this book it will be impossible to put down. I have always known that Lurps were the heroes of Vietnam. This book just verifys it.

Summary: Tales of firefights by someone who (barely) survived them.
Review: Miller recounts his days in Vietnam fighting with F Co., 58th Inf. (LRP), 101st Airborne, and later, L Co., 75th Inf (Ranger), 101st Airborne. A must-read for nonfiction fans of SOG units in the Vietnam War. Also recommended: "Eyes of the Eagle" and "Eyes Behind the Lines", by Gary Linderer. If you ever meet Mr. Miller, please shake his hand for me.

Summary: Great story about the school, but...
Review: Once this author starts into the combat stories it turns into fiction. For instance, he writes about the combat actions of his unit on 20 Nov. 1968 as told to him by his fellow authors. That fact that they claimed they killed over 200 NVA soldiers and the team was hit by friendly fire this author is winging it big time.

Summary: It was great!
Review: The book is very thriling and you don't have to wait 200 pages to get to the good stuff, only about 1 or 2 chpaters! They have some harry run-ins with the VC and the NVA. I suggest you read this book!
