Rating: Summary: I usually like Dave Barry, but... Review: I have read several of his books, but this one seemed a lot less funny than most of the others I have read. Not sure exactly what it is about this one, perhaps the topic, or the fact that the same jokes are used over and over. I am having a hard time finishing this one and I usually blaze through Dave Barry books in one or two sittings.
Rating: Summary: A must have for any AP U.S. History Student Review: I love American History and the more you know about it, the funnier this book is. Dave Barry's at his finest in this book and it's a must have for any Dave Barry fan or U.S. History buff. I read this book when I was taking AP US History in high school and laughed my head off. If you love history you'll appreciate it. If you think that it's the most painfully boring subject ever, this book making fun it will help you endure it. Either way, it's a can't miss gift idea (at least in my experience). Dave Barry's book should be used as an American History book. And I'm not making this up. His riffs on the American Revolution and the Civil War are classic. This book is the best of Dave Barry!
Rating: Summary: HAHA! Review: I love history and I love Dave Barry! What a combination! Absolutely hilarious, and the more American history you know or learn, the better it gets. Absolute comic genius; perhaps the funniest book I have ever read. And someone else, thinks so too; I lent my copy and never got it back; and I cant remember to who! :) (or whom or whatever is right)
Rating: Summary: His best book Review: I own just about all of his books, but this one just seems to be his best. In fact, this was the first Dave Barry book that I ever read! I certainly can't thank my friend enough for turning me on to Dave's writing several years back. What makes it even better is if you know the history and can pick up on the more subtle references that he makes. I've read this book probably six times, and each time I pick up on something new -- and hilarious. A must-read.
Rating: Summary: Laugh out Loud Funny Review: I own most of Dave Barry's books, and I love them all, but this one is the best in my opinion. As I've taken History classes, i've gone back and reread the book and the more you know about the real events, the funnier the book is.
Rating: Summary: The funniest book you will EVER read. Review: I re-read this book at least once a year and don't even care if people on the subway look at me funny for laughing out loud. The way Dave rewrites history is brilliant and hysterically funny, absolute genius. You will actually laugh so hard you will cry. If you want to see Dave at his finest, read this book.
Rating: Summary: Best history book, ever Review: I'm currently studying to be a history teacher, so I found this book absolutely hysterical. I adore Dave Barry and I think he's the funniest man alive, so the fact that this book made me laugh so hard I choked on my own spittle didn't surprise me. What did surprise me? I actually learned stuff. No joke.

Rating: Summary: I Wish My REAL History Textbooks Were This Fun To Read Review: I've been told that sometimes the best way to find out if something is truly funny is to read it a second time. I have put this theory to the test repeatedly with Dave's amazing Sort-Of History, and have come out laughing, nearly to tears, every single time (once on a red-eye flight back from the UK-- who said people in coach class never laugh?). I read it as often as I can, usually over the summer. However, I think a parental unit or good friend, can't remember which, "borrowed" it, so I have to buy a NEW one! And believe it or not, this is the God's honest truth, it sort of actually prepared me for AP U.S. History (not the exam, obviously, but as a refresher before the class). Of course, my teacher wasn't too thrilled when I said an oligarchy was "rule by the Oligs". Anyway, long story short, this is the best book in the Wide World of Humor: short, concise, gut-splittingly funny, and cheap! Besides, you'll help Dave buy that new motor yacht he's been wanting! =)
Rating: Summary: The funniest Book I've Ever Read Review: I've read a lot of books (including all of Dave Barry's and a whole lot more I can't remember right now) and 'DAVE BARRY SLEPT HERE' is by far the funniest book I've ever read. This book is Dave at his best, his apex, his acme, whatever the best phrase for 'His Bestest' is, that's what I mean. I've given away about a dozen or so copies to date, and made about a dozen or so friends because of it. Did I mention that this is the FUNNIEST book I've ever read? -RNBaca-
