Summary: Ambivalent
Review: I agree with a number of the other reviewers. This novel is emotionally intense and made me cry, but it also drove me crazy. As others said, why would Cat put up with Travis's behavior? It is brutal and emotionally abusive (something like the behavior of the main male figure, I can't remember his name, toward the heroine in the Hawaiian volcano novel; you know the one). What I enjoyed particularly was that she didn't just fall immediately into his arms (though you know she's going to at the end), and he actually had to suffer a little for what he did to her.

Just out of curiosity, why is this woman bankrupting herself and ruining her health to support not only her able-bodied mother but her siblings who are in medical school? Tell them to take loans out like the other med students!

Summary: AN UNEXPECTED PLEASURE.
Review: I ALMOST DIDN'T READ THIS BOOK BECAUSE OF SOME NEGATIVE REVIEWS I'D SEEN, BUT SINCE ELIZABETH LOWELL IS A FAVORITE OF MINE, I WANTED TO GIVE IT A TRY. I WAS VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED, ENJOYED THIS IMMENSELY, AND I'M VERY GLAD I DIDN'T PASS IT UP. ONCE AGAIN ELIZABETH LOWELL HAS MANAGED TO MAKE ME CARE DEEPLY ABOUT HER CHARACTERS AND TO SHARE THEIR JOY AND PAIN. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TO LOWELL FANS AND LET THEM DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES WHETHER ITS WORTH THEIR TIME.

Summary: A real tearjerker!
Review: I am glad to see I was not the only one who read this book with a box of tissues next to me! Just finished "Chain Lightening", also by the incredible Ms. Lowell. I read it in one sitting (no easy feat for me).

Summary: WOW!!
Review: I cannot get over how intensely this book grips you from beginning to end!
What a fabulous deep romance!
They do not write romances like these anymore where the story is all about the passions, emotions, and past traumas that the hero and heroine struggle constantly with, which creates such a sensual atmosphere of tension and suspense, you will not want to put the book down until you finish it!

The hero is a ship designing genius with an ugly past marriage that has blinded him to view women as money-hungry harlots. She is a talented photographer who escaped a more traumatizing marriage and is struggling financially to put her sibling twins into Medical School. She is assigned to take photos of one of his designer ships, but they meet unexpectedly before they know each other's identities and the chemistry between them is instant and genuinely open.

The writing is unbelievably intense; it creates an exotically detailed, moody, and stormy atmosphere that is congruous with the characters' personalities. The reader physically feels the electrical emotions passing through them when they are fighting, making love, crying or admiring each other's artistic genius.

Furthermore, the novel hardly incorporates any side characters, but when they are introduced their development is kept to a minimal-they onle serve to heighten the suspense for the main character's romance-or aid it.

The ending is especially gut-wrenching and I actually wept.

Judith Mcnaught fans, you will be moved by this book. As for everyone else, the same thing goes! Read it and you will not regret the sensual, sexy, tumultuous dive of a romance that you will surely experience!

Summary: Can't go wrong with any of Lowell's books !!
Review: I could not put this book down. I enjoyed the characters and the story flowed. I would recommend this book to everyone. I wish the story never ended. Hopefully she picks up these characters and adds another book with them.

Summary: Very entertaining and moving
Review: I don't ordinarily read a lot of romance novels but for some reason I tossed this in my cart one day. After letting it sit on my nightstand for a month, I picked it up to pass some time. I read the entire book in two sittings! I could relate to the characters' feelings in the matter of the difficult pregnancy and cried a couple of times while reading. I would recommend it to anyone and just left my sister-in-law engrossed in it.

Summary: Despite the flaws of these characters, I enjoyed the book
Review: I found myself getting upset with TH Danvers and his sexist thoughts. Due to him having one bad relationship with a woman only after his money he felt that all women were like that and he tried to put a price on Kat's love for him, how stupid. On the other hand it was very stupid of Kat to work herself to the bone and never have time to take a minute to even feed herself. Even though those were the two problems that I had with both characters, I did enjoy the book and I can also empathize with their beliefs. How many of us work ourselves to death for a better life? Then think about how many of us have been so burned by someone that we think everyone we meet will treat us just as badly. ?

Summary: This has got it all
Review: I loved this book! I, like others, stayed up all night on Friday reading it and after I woke up on Saturday I read the whole thing again. (I'm not kidding you)

This book was about two grown-up, independent people, who fell in love at first sight and were terrified by it. Ok sounds pretty human to me. They have misunderstandings that come about from a lack of communication and once they realize it, they TALK about it. They talk about it like adults, not stupid romance novel characters. It was really refreshing!

Combine a great story (ok maybe a little overly dramatic but that's what we read romance for anyway) with a really great romance, some very steamy scenes, and good writing and you have a gem of a novel.

Thumbs up!

Summary: A terrific rewrite!
Review: I normally avoid this kind of rewrite like the plague, but bought this one because I'd lost my copy of the original. What a pleasant surprize it was. While the 1st half of the book consists largely of padding, the second half felt quite fresh. I especially liked the scenes aboard Wind Dancer, particularly the new ending, which tells us how Travis helped Cat recover from her tragic loss. I had always felt the original ending was a little too pat, moving from "she hates him" to "she loves him again" for no apparent reason. This rewrite is definitely worth reading.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: An okay book but not up to Ms. Lowell's usual standards
Review: I read the reviews and decided to take a chance and read this book because I am a big fan of Elizabeth Lowell. I have to admit I was a little disappointed because it did not seem up to the author's usual standards. The characters lacked depth and the plot was not very interesting.
