Summary: For those who truly like the gruesome and creative
Review: Wow-- a top forensic police officer working from his bed as a quadriplegic. Such a great idea that has NEVER been thought of before!

And from the very beginning, where police find a man buried alive with one hand sticking out of the ground, a finger shaved of skin and wearing a woman's ring, the depraved of New York City shine through this book about a serial killer/kidnapper. A beautiful woman must help our "crip," as he calls himself, solve each crime, for which the killer leaves clues to the next victim, before the victim dies.

A great suspense novel, one which I wanted to read before I saw the movie with the gorgeous Denzel Washington playing the quadriplegic and newcomer Angelina Jolie playing the red-headed "partner" for this forensic, bedded genius.

Deaver has created two superb characters who work together with superb sexual tension between them. Readers should check out the next book, "The Coffin Dancer," which features the same players. Hopefully Deaver has more coming for us.

Deaver is Patricia Cornwell caliber, a hard task to accomplish!

Summary: Wow!
Review: This is the first book of Deaver's I have ever read and was very impressed with his writing style. His words just flow with whatever he is describing and this makes for an easy to follow book. The plot and descriptions are absolutely excellent and leave you on the edge of your seat as you read. The dialogue and interactions between the characters are amazing and it's easy to see why this book is popular. I must admit, however, I am slightly biased. I saw the movie before reading the book (excellent movie) and was expecting to be blown away. I was and though the book is very different from the movie, it is extraordinary and is a must-have.

Summary: THE BONE COLLECTOR WAS A BONE CHILLER THRILLER
Review: I purchase this books by J.D. when the movie came out. I understand his previous books are also very good. I decided that I would not read this story until the movie came out on video. To my surprise, I should have started this exciting thriller right away. J.D. hooks the reader on every chapter. I would surely go out and buy the next Lincoln Rhyme's novel by this gifted writer. This whodunit novel give no clues until the end. The buildup of events keeps you reading well into the night; so beware if you have to go to work. The person in this story who commited all the crimes was ....... well let me say you will be surprised just as I was. The next Lincoln Rhyme's novel out is THE COFFEN DANCER and J.Deaver,s third installment on the Lincoln Rhyme saga will be THE EMPTY CHAIR. If you like mystery you will love Jeffery Deaver. Readers of good suspense and mystery will want to take a good look at this book.

The last comment on this is "A GREAT MYSTERY STORY ! "

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Adequate but disappointing
Review: The book was definitely suspenseful, but there were far too many plot twists. The killer's motivation was so tormented that it was implausible, and the post-script, which was clearly the opening for the book's sequels, was so great a coincidence as to be ludicrous. I'm definitely going to have to take a break from Deaver.

Additionally, it was a mistake to have this book read by a British performer. The result sounded like Sherlock Holmes came to New York, where he was incredibly patronizing.

Summary: Gripping
Review: When a movie trailer captures my attention, I will usually get the book and read it first. I'm glad I did this as the movie did have some deviations from the novel. Good read, great detail about the investigation!

Summary: I couldn't put it down
Review: I am a big fan of the "Prey" books by John Sandford and this book was as good as any of those. I was thoroughly engaged by the story and read deep into the night. I was breathless at the end and never suspected who the killer was. I absolutely recommend this book!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Never-ending suspense
Review: One of the best books I have ever read. I just finished the sequel, The Coffin Dancer. The plot, twists, and storyline are incredibly unique. The vivid detail quickly grasps your attention. The amount of insight given into forensics is greatly fascinating. I am quickly becoming a Deaver fan and would recommend this book to anyone.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Meticulously detailed! Inspirational
Review: This book has created its own "genre". Intensive crime scene analysis coupled with a superior plot and all too human characters place this novel in a league of its own. It has served to educate on the precise workings of the analysts within the Police departments and the utilisation of state-of-the art technology in the fight against crime. Lincoln Rhyme, as one of the main characters and a quadriplegic, inspires by his encyclopedic knowledge, and educates us on the challenges of such a condition. His relationship with Amelia Sachs, his protege, is one of the highlights in this extraordinary novel.
